Beartooth HIghway Scenic Motorcycle Ride - August 9, 2023

- A beautiful August motorcycle ride over Beartooth Highway from Red Lodge Mt. This is part one of two videos of the Beartooth Highway and Chief Joseph Highway.
This first part is from Red Lodge Mt to the Chief Joseph Highway turnoff.
******(see below)
The Entire Loop is from Red Lodge Mt. heading south on Highway 212 over Beartooth Highway and then Highway 296 - Chief Joseph highway. once you reach Wyo Hwy 120 turn left to Belfry Mt. and then Hwy 308 Through Bear Creek and back to Red Lodge.
A beautiful way to spend the day.
Unfortunately people have been stealing road signs on Chief Joseph Highway. the Beartooth Highway sign, the Chief Joseph scenic byway sign and the Wyo Hwy 296 signs have all been stolen.
I just don't get why people do that sort of thing.
****** I have noticed a few errors on the video. The date of the ride was actually August 9th but in the entry I typed in yesterday's date of the 13th since I was working on it yesterday.
I accidently put that highway 212 was westbound out of Red Lodge but it is actually southbound.
Apologies for any confusion.
I am also wondering if chapters cause more commercials in the videos.. I have a lot more youtube learning to do.
My wife and I drove this a few years ago in the SUV. My dream is to ride it on the Harley. You've done a terrific job with the filming and the music, and have really done right in highlighting this must ride highway. Well done.
Thank you so much I am glad that you enjoyed the ride. I hope you get the chance to ride it on your Harley.
Thanks for the advice on cameras and filming. Plan to travel this area July 2025. Be riding from Fort Worth. Will practice with a camera and filming well before I get there.
Sounds Awesome! Have a great trip!. Also when I film I just do it in 10 to 30 second intervals, just to catch the good stuff. Plus it is easier to edit that way, for me anyway. Safe Travels and enjoy the Beartooth Highway
Hey Lori, I just love your videos; You make me feel like I am right there with ya guys. That was a beautiful ride. Thanks for sharing . Prayers Flying from Michigan for safe travels!
Thank you! I am so glad that you are enjoying the videos. 😊
Beautiful video. My parents just got back from their trip here last week. Totally different experience. Zero visibility, blizzard weather conditions and overall treacherous drive. Several abandoned motorcycles from what they told me. 🥹 I came across your video because I wanted to see what she "would have seen" had weather been different. Thank you for sharing. -Rhianna from NH
Glad you enjoyed the video!. Sorry your parents experience was the snowstorm. I heard it was really bad up there on the first closing. The were more preemptive 2 days ago when they closed it early due to a snowstorm coming. I hope that they get another chance to go over the pass, August has better more stable weather up there.
Beautifully videoed, with great music! I watch and listen while working out on my stationary bike. I've never ridden it so fast! Thanks for this blessing!
That is awesome! I am so glad you liked the video and it helped with your workout. Thank you so much for your comment.
This is a bucket list ride for me. My wife rides her own bike, but is scared of heights. We rode million dollar hwy and rocky mountain national park together because she is a trooper. But she said I would have to do this one without her...lol
I haven't seen the Million Dollar Highway in person but I believe it might be a bit more intimidating than the Beartooth Highway. Just the fact that beartooth has a lot more guardrail and in most places the drop off without a guardrail is more gradual but pretty rocky. It would be a shame for her to miss out on this ride. Maybe come to Red Lodge and rent a Slingshot so you can both enjoy the Beartooth together.
Thank you for taking this video, this road is definitely on my wish list.
It is definitely worth a trip, hopefully you can go soon.
Amazing video. I am doing that trip next month and so looking forward to this ride!!
I hope you have an awesome ride! I was up there today and it was just beautiful. 😊
Wow! So much gorgeous scenery, all in one ride. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching! The Beartooth Highway is amazing.
Thanks for making this. How cold was it. I’ll be in that area last week September/first week August.
The day we rode in August it was probably 60 degrees, there is generally a 10 degree difference between Red Lodge and the Summit not accounting for the wind which can sometimes be pretty fierce. September can be either nice or snowing, it's best to look at the weather forecast before heading up. Have a great ride! 😊
@@loristravelshey, I’m trying to find a gimble for my GoPro. What’s your set up?
@@ghostmost2614 I do not use a gimbal, I have the GoPro 11 on a Volta. The setup works good for me on the back of the bike. I just let the GoPro fix the movement.
We probably passed you!!! We went over from Cody/Chief Joseph to Red Lodge. OMG! Super day. Then down through Lovell and Burgess because of your recommendations. Outstanding. Used a dashcam to record it all and my buddy a GoPro with some problems he had. In Deadwood now to do Rushmore, Needles, Custer etc before the LONG ride back to Boston. Thanks again
Maybe! What were you traveling in? I am glad that you enjoyed the route. I understand about the GoPro issues, I have them a lot but Im getting better. 😊 Enjoy the rest of your travels, stay safe.
@@loristravels we were on 2 Harleys one red and one black with a brief stop at Top of the World store Great day
@@mrfoomutt It was a great day.
Nice nature of country.
Thank you, It is a beautiful area.
Very nice video thanks. I grew up in Red Lodge until 12 years old so this is special to me
I am so glad that you enjoyed the video. Red Lodge is an amazing place to live. So much beauty there.
What a nicely done rendition of that road! I only watched half of it and need to go, but I can't wait to watch the rest! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thank you! It is an amazing road with spectacular scenery. Also near the summit you can find some incredible Quartz and pink granite melded together. I absolutely love the rocks up there, I get distracted a lot and end up with 50 lbs of rock in my pack. 😉
I reached the summit August 9th at 4pm on the nose. Looks like you headed up a bit earlier. Beautiful day for it. I was probably still stuck in traffic in Yellowstone lol
I was a beautiful day for sure! Any day up on the Beartooth is great. Yellowstone does have its share of traffic Jams, I been caught up in many. 😊
Thank you for sharing these stunning moments
Thank you for watching. The Beartooth Highway is an amazing place.
Absolutely love this video and this ride. What is the weather like in August? How would I prepare properly for the temperatures?
Thank you so much. On this day I believe it was in the high 60's. The temp can vary greatly. Depending on the weather forecast there can even be snow. I always wear my leather jacket and gloves up there. At 10K feet the weather can change rapidly so it is best to be prepared just in case. Just watch the forecast and Have a great ride.
When would be the best time to go that I wouldn’t be bogged down in traffic.
@@SuperSquitch This ride was close to mid day. As you can see there isn't a lot of traffic, people are generally spread out unless you get behind a camper. Are you from a Metro area? Traffic here is nothing compared to a metro area. Even the most busy days would feel like heaven compared to that.
Thank you for the info. I’m from New York. I want to take a ride cross country on my bike. Haven’t gone west yet.
@SuperSquitch You will absolutely fall in love.
I rode it twice August 9th just got back home from out there it's amazing
Glad you enjoyed your ride! There was a lot of Bikes up there that day, Did I happen to catch you riding? I try to video the bikes as much as possible.
OMG, This is a bucket list adventure.. Thanks for this.
I am so glad that you like the video, hope you get a chance to visit soon!
I ride the pass and Chief Joseph hwy at least once a year. Hands down the greatest American ride. You missed the chipmunks at the rest area and a photo of the bear tooth. Don't forget to stop at "the top of the world," store.
I am working on another video that will have all those things, except the Top of the world store. We rarely stop there unless we are being Tour Guides for family and friends. Glad you get the opportunity to ride the passes at least once a year. It is beautiful up there.
Need to ride this one for sure. My channel: - Wild Man RG3
Definitely take the time to do it, you will not regret it. Chief Joseph pass is amazing too.
Great video. It looks completely different riding out of Red Lodge. I saw scenery we did not see just two weeks ago when we road it. Thanks for the look again.
Thanks! It does look completely different, I always hope people have the time to ride Beartooth and Chief Joseph both ways for the best experience. 😊
That was just an absolutely gorgeous trip! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, the Beartooth Highway is definitely a must see.
You folks do a great job. I very much enjoy your videos!!
Thank you so much! 😊. We are glad you are enjoying them.
Thank you again Lori thank the one one the front for not getting me into a side ways type scenario... they hurt. Calgary
Thanks for watching! I will thank my chauffeur! 😊

Great video!!!
Thanks for watching! 😊
Thank you 🙂
You’re welcome 😊
Very nice.
Glad you like the Video. Thank you for watching.
I've riden the Beartooth Pass with you so many times. I almost, almost, don't need to do in real life. Did I say almost? Thanks again.
It is definitely a place you have to see to get the whole experience. I never get tired of it. Thank you for watching.
The video is nice but, difficult to feel the air and the sun, and smell the smells in a video.
@bradboustead1682 😂🤣. I’ll have to work on that 😎
@@loristravels My comment is for Paul, not a criticism of your video.
Always enjoy your vids Lori. Great job.
Thank you 😊. I hope you are not getting tired of Beartooth Highway and the Bighorn mountains.
