Vinces voice when he's getting extra gravely is hilarious
Flair said he'd been out all night with Dibiase the nigt before and turned up and did that, whilst Dibiase was so hungover that he requested that he be elimiated early.
fun fact "30 men, addicted to ico-pro and dressed as tradesmen" was in fact the working tag-line for this show.
It's like you're trying to get recognized for their joke. Pfft no way dude. You ain't it.
Your comment gave me a little laugh as you did have a fair few wrestlers with second jobs, be it the Repo Man a the lower end of the job scale up to IRS in the middle and Rick Martel at the top end of the job scale as a fashion model. Then Ico-Pro which was advertised everywhere on the WWF’s media sources from banners and adverts on tv to adverts in the WWF Magazine, I’m surprised it didn’t show up on the railings on the WrestleMania, Royal Rumble & Raw video games on the SNES & Mega Drive/Genesis. It was
launched alongside the WBF and like the WBF it was shit and no one asked for it. All the wrestlers I’ve seen in shoot interviews say they were given loads of Ico-Pro for and it tasted awful, Bret Hart said he was given loads by the WWE but like everyone else he had his own stuff so he gave it all away to friends, family and neighbours but the neighbours ended up leaving back on his doorstep, he said it tasted absolutely disgusting and he thought it had no nutritional value to it whatsoever. Then you have Curt Hennig’s son Joe (Curtis Axel) who said he took some Ico-Pro when he was a teenager and started lifting weights for “football” and it him diarrhoea (sorry but any sport where you run with a ball which isn’t even a ball as a ball is spherical in shape, in your hands and throw it isn’t “football”. I’m not American/Canadian as you can guess).
Big Boss Man was an insanely agile worker for such a big dude. Watch him wrestle, moved like a man half his size.
1993 would have that youngster Carlos Colon entering the Rumble! What a feather in his cap it would be if he could win it!
LMAO Everyone was a youngster to Gorilla
Gorilla being funny 😂
Monsoon was hilarious….😂😂
So glad I found this channel. Lately I have just been binging these and having edibles and I can't stop laughing. These guys need their own TV show, the quality of their jokes.
Dude, I'll finish one of these videos and feel like I've been on an emotional rollercoaster. I go from hysterical belly laughing at the well intentioned jokes about the absurdity of the wrestling world, to serious as a heart attack when one of the fellas gets into these really great stories about wrestling history that I never knew. The next moment I feel a rush of sweet childhood nostalgia, and then every few videos, I get hit with a mental flash bang when they bring up some obscure wrestler or event that I remember seeing on TV as it aired.
These guys are funny af!! Much love from the United States guys- thank you for this level of quality entertainment. Its shows like this that make me grateful that I tough out so much cringe internet content to come across gems like these.
The interview Flair does after the winning the title is one of his best. ‘With a tear in my eye….’
Best commentary ever in the history of wrestling by Bobby Heenan during the rumble, how he puts Flair over.
Absolutely brilliant!!
This is what I miss in today's wrestling .
So funny, - it is a skirt, not a kilt 😂😂😂
RIP the late great Bobby Heenan
"It's not fair to Flair!"
That's not fair to Flair!
Bobby the Brain was truly an original, that might've been imitated and never duplicated.
*_"Jannetty tried to dive through the window to escape. Did you see that? What an act of cowardice "_* 🤣😂😅
He's still the best
AGREED!
This is the most anyone has ever talked about Skinner.
Probably not even Skinner himself
They didn’t even talk about Skinner just his name lmao
Steve is a legend
And now your the 2nd longest. Congratulations!
Steve kern was great ...he drew in every other territory but in the wwf he just got lost in the crowd
Skinner...AKA Steve Keirn...was great as one half of the 'Fabulous Ones' tag team, before going to the WWF.
I hate how as fans we were given good wrestlers in crap gimmicks
@@docbloom247 Agreed
Skinner was awesome. Loved now he committed to his character with the Everglades shots and the knifes and chew. The guy was talent. I remember that gator claw necklace as well
@@docbloom247 I grew up watching Mid South where Terry Taylor was one of the top white meat babyfaces. You can imagine my confusion when, while checking out WWF one day in like 1989 (which I rarely did as it was still considered the lesser of the two big companies in the southern US), I saw Taylor dressed up as a damned chicken.
@@tmage23 His career never recovered from that.
2:37 the footage of Flair coming to the ring, and DiBiase walking out, really hits me in the nostalgia feels
I was there for that PPV. When Hogan tricked Sid and pulled him over the rope, we booed him out of the building. When the tape came out, they dubbed it so it sounded like we cheered what Hogan did.
Same aul Vince always at it
Vince's introductions is like a list of cartoon characters. Such was 80's WWF
The opening montage for this made me fear for VInce's vocal cords
This is the 19th consecutive appearance on PPV by Hercules. There's hope for us all folks!
Flair cutting what I call a “Harley Race champ” promo. Yes, he’s a heel but he acknowledges how great his opponents are and he’s the man
That’s the genuine secret to a heel promo - putting over your opponent all the while keeping your own image intact.
Yes, my opponent is a fantastic athlete and has won many matches against many strong opponents, but the victory parade stops here…and it’s that easy.
Not only do I love every video on this channel, I'm also in love with the theme music.
The theme song is crazy good.
I think it’s an NJPW jam, and they always have solid tracks.
I hear it in my sleep sometimes
@@Phantasia_Workshop So I'm not the only one 😂
@@joshuaDstarks NJPW? You got a link, mate?
@@unusedsub3003 I think the boys said what it was on another video…lemme go look around a little.
I looked up some people that were on that boxing bill from the 18th century and I loved that they all had nicknames. I really like Harry Gray the clog maker
This is the most entertaining wrestling show anywhere currently. Thank you so much.
Parasailing injury is such an '80s accident to have. Like breaking your leg skiing.
Or having a hair spray related fire happen.
Dropping a Breville on your foot
If Repo Man won the Royal Rumble it would have been the greatest day of my life
Would have gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling in my tum tum
Are you Simon Miller in disguise? 😂
It would have been amazing if he had done a repo job on the title at the end of the Rumble 😂
@@55poncho no bruv. I’m the Wizard in the Sky
Only if he had stolen the victory like Austin would do five years later.
I've watched this Rumble more than any match, any show, any movie. I once could tell you every US President in order, but that knowledge is gone. Replaced by the entry order and eliminated order of this Rumble.
I still have the original taped live I'd always call my Uncle who had the huge 1980s Early to mid 90s big satellite dish in the corner of your backyard...to tape every PPV starting from Survivor Series 1991 until early 1993...Great Memories..I was in grade 6 and I wore a ric flair shirt they sold at Zellers...Here in Canada with Ric sitting in front of a mirror...Damn that would be worth something today I bet
Skinner went on to be headteacher at an elementary school. I saw a documentary about it.
"We boast an outstanding, caring, highly skilled faculty of staff. And Skinner, the Head."
I don't know why, but that is creepy
I think "and Skinner" should be in any conversation when talking about a major pay per view. like "WrestleMania 9. for an event that had such bad matchez it had some great talent. and Skinner."
That music is iconic glamour and glitz. What’s the Liver and Onions equivalent 😂
I was front row for a house show when I was 12, and Skinner was one of the best parts of the show. He was breaking character laughing at me roasting him the whole match. It was hilarious.
Imagine if Skinner had won that Rumble. I reckon your entire life trajectory would have changed for the worse. Probably gave up all hope in humanity and descended to a life of crime
Wow, I've never heard such a blatant lie in my whole entire life. It's amazing the lengths and depths mentally ill people will go to get attention.
@@Matthew-qu1qlbut it Could be true though…
Finally something from glory days when I used to watch WWF 🤗🤩👍
One of my favourite VHS tapes back in the day. Even the cover and mini poster was amazing. Surely one of the most memorable shows of all time.
This was the first PPV I was able to talk my folks into buying for me. Greatest Ever! Wooooo!
I misss the amped up Vince giving us the intro only he can....The Vince when he still really REALLY cared
👊
or had just done some coke with Hulk...?! 🤔🤐
I loved watching Mr Perfect trying not to laugh!
“Skiiiiiiinnnnnnneeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr!”
Saint Loo-is is the correct pronunciation for anyone wondering but it's also affectionately referred to as "Saint Louie"
👋 *_'So long screwey see you in Saint Louie'_* 🥕 🐇
The Rumble and Survivor series were always my favourite events as they were different. I'm so glad that the WWE seems to be moving a bit more back towards the traditional elimination matches at Survivor series. The 92 Rumble was definitely something special though, I'm not sure, even with some great modern "surprise entrant" moments, there's been another rumble to top it. I think mostly, and I've actually watched it again quite recently, what it is is that even the filler guys, who you know have absolutely no hope of winning, seemed to really be selling how important it was that they (in kayfabe) had just as much chance of winning the World Title as Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage or Ric Flair, they were really putting deathgrips on the top rope to stop themselves being eliminated etc.
With a Tear in my Eye it was great seeing Ric Flair when the Royal rumble lol
With a tear in my eye...
WWF had their most star studded royal rumble ever in 1992, and followed it up with their least star studded rumble in 1993. I think Skinner was one of the top 5 names in that one 😂
The 1995 Rumble says hold my beer
93 was dog muck and i was getting outta wrestling half way through that year until 99
yes, unfortunately they were really clutching at straws with the likes of Carlos Colon and Damien Demento. Quite a few tag teams in it as well, when I think the Royal Rumble should mostly consistent of singles wrestlers, or maybe a maximum of 2 tag teams (one face, one heel) at most.
10:34-10:37 "...to find out who is the man? For 4 months...". If read as one sentence, it sounds like Flair says "to find out who is the man for four months". Flair lost the title 4 months later in april at Wrestlemania.
To be historically accurate, 30 people most of whom are related to each other resorting to violence to be the last remaining person to get the big prize is how Byzantine royal courts worked. Getting Thrake Theme was drawing number 30 and getting Anatolikon Theme was drawing number 1.
Skinners time to shine. Steamed Hams anyone?
I miss the PPVs having their own theme songs that were the same for a few years.
🥁 🎹 🎶 *_Whoa whoa Wrestlemania fighting to survive_* 😂
Years of making that voice is why Vince sounds the way he does now 😂😂😂
The following match was rubbish but the Legion of Doom's promo against the natural disasters was one of my favourite things in wrestling ever. "You know what makes us sick, besides everything?"
I still love that theme for the Royal Rumble, proper dodgy but a guilty pleasure 😂
Best rumble ever.
The best Royal Rumble ever.
say what you want about Vince, part of the excitement and theatre back then was his 'promo' on introducing each combatant with that iconic music playing......this is probably what I miss most about the Royal Rumble, although I'd argue it was quintessentially an '80s/90s thang, i.e. of its era. It doesn't really work now, because they generally don't have EVERY single entrant ready to go, they try and add a few 'surprise' entrants (although this seems to becoming less and less with each new year..). It would get me hyped though, you knew when it was Rumble time!! Such a brilliant package back then, even if each card or event wasn't always 'stellar'......
I don't know if a catchphrase counts as a nickname, but Ric getting mad at Becky Lynch for using The Man thinking that's his nickname and not some old violent fragile drunkard saying at some bar, will never not be funny.
This is the greatest era… well the end of an era..😢😢
Vince’s throat burning stormer!
So glad superintendent chalmers gave him time off for this
The first Royal Rumble was won by Jim Duggan.
Pete, Marc, and Skinner!
Another great video.
I await the deluge of tedious Americans complaining about the initial pronunciation of "St. Louis".
No doubt that the 1992 Royal Rumble is the best Royal Rumble ever! From Bobby Heenan on commentary putting Ric Flair over constantly and when a couple of wrestlers have ganged up on Flair and have nearly got him over the top rope and Ric Flair is hanging on for dear life and Heenan is saying “Be fair to Flair!” is simply brilliant as you can hear the despair in Heenan’s voice. And you have Gorilla Monsoon putting Ric Flair down through the Royal Rumble match but as soon as Flair wins the match and WWF Championship you can hear the relief and excitement in Bobby Heenan’s voice and he sounds out of breath like he’s just spent every minute in that match with Ric Flair and after he gloats to Gorilla Monsoon telling him that he knew Flair could win he says his goodbyes as he’s off to celebrate with Flair and Mr Perfect and we get that classic “And with a tear in my eye” promo. Only thing that spoils the Royal Rumble match is Hulk Hogan acting like a child and a heel by holding on to Sid’s arm from the outside after he’s been eliminated making it easy for Ric Flair to come up behind Sid and dump him out as Hogan was already pulling on Sid’s arm and had him part the way over the top rope.
Great video upload enjoyed watching this great royal rumble as well love some of the intros to rumbles so good 👍
It's LORD ALFRED
This was great. The videos are getting really good.
*Put that cigarette out.*
I had no idea Patterson came out of San Francisco.. makes sense.
He was French Canadian, was billed from Montreal and 'Cisco.
*_[But San Francisco, though a profitable home base from 1965 to 1977 and the city billed as his hometown during his time in the WWF, eventually began to wear on Patterson. “I wanted something . . . different.]_*-ringer
1992 and 2001 are the best rumbles
'99 for me. That was when Vince became my fave wrestler.
Bobby Herman: Jack ‘ on the take’ Tunney 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Only thing that sounds more agonizing to plot out than a Rumble is the G1 or similar round robin tournaments.
Easily.
Booking a G1 would make me lose sleep.
@@joshuaDstarks They must have some sort of Excel formula by this point where you just plug in who you want to win each block and work backwards from there.
Greatest match of all time. But 91 was damn good, too!
Paul Diamond is Canadian! Given name is Tom Boric. Lived in Winnipeg for a few years.
Hard to think earth quake was young but looked 40
29 in this
Oi! 40 is young! To some of us. (He does look eternally old. Kinda like Hogan.)
Dopest Rumble of all time fr fr
Vince can growl with the beat of em'.
Best rumble ever
Saw u on boch a mania. Sweeeeeet
My 1st Royal Rumble I watched on Sky. I always thought they sold Flair short with his pre-title opponents. Made sense to put him with people he'd worked with years before but Tito Santana wasn't going anywhere at that time. I think it slowed his momentum down. After all in the UK I only knew Flair for a few years from PWI and WCW on Granada, starting in 1990.
You boys must be getting close to be able to tempt some former WWF/E staff to give some insider info
I fucking love this channel
The Royal Rumble is like a battle royale in reverse. Instead of eliminating guys, you add guys. And also eliminate guys.
'Battle Roy AL' sounds like a fast food burger. Or a fight between two blokes called Roy & Al, over said burger.
Absolutely brilliant 👏 the classic 👌
Lol Rick Flair is 43 in 1992 but he looks 65.
You guy's rock
That would make a good movie, Battle Royal 9 men boxing tournament, live action movie or animated and dramatic action or comedy like dodge ball, I smell a good premise
I’ve always said Battle Royal the way you say it because it’s just a totally different thing that doesn’t exist otherwise.
Royal isn’t a type of fight but RoyAL means a free for all fight. And that’s what it is
I remember that 😁
SKINNER!!!
Skinnnerrr the alligator man!
Skinner!
Is the Brooklyn brawler from the 1930s
😂 5o's if you watch _The Lords of Flatbush_ and _The Wild One_ for some context.
When he debuted in the late 8o's this was a time when the _US_ was still nostalgic for the 5o's. Via the cultural zeitgeist of the likes of *_Back to the Future, & Happy Days_*
As for the 3o's (2o's) wrestler displaced in the _WWF_ early 9o's that would've been *_Big Bully Busick._* 😅
I like how the editing skipped over all the other entrants except Skinner and Hogan. Just made me think. Hogan Skinner eyeing down across the ring... You think you're special you do.
I feel like I got Skinner-baited
This episode ended too quickly man
Wow, how far back was this recorded? Taker has been in the Hall of Fame for a year and half and Bulldog over 3 years.
Also Sid, Repo Man (as part of Demolition), Rick Martel and Haku could eventually make the Hall. That could make it 20 out of 30 when all said and done.
* Jimmy Superfly Snuka was taken out of the Hall when they finally charged him for murdering his girlfriend.
Skinner was Steve Keirn, a half of The Fabulous Ones. Lost on me then of course.
So weird Ric said Mirror Mirror on the wall in that promo. That line has never existed. The witch in snow white says "Magic Mirror on the wall".
Is the berserker a Viking
Yes he would come down the ring with shield and sword in hand. On one occasion he tried murderin the Undertaker with that sword of his, look it up 😅
Is the skinner an American version of crocodile Dundee
'The best single hour of wrestling you'll probably ever see.'
What about Shawn v Bret iron Man?
This is WAY better.
Wow the million dollar man actually DIDNT look fat for a change lol
🎉
it not fair to flarbooby had great line
This was the free Rumble wasnt it?
No ppv this Rumble took place in 1992. The first one held in 1988 was the free one in which _Hacksaw Jim Buggers_ won.
I will never understand the ridiculous ric flair gimmick but damn I can't not like him. His wrestling is boring and hes always looked washed up but i cant stop enjoying him in the ring. He's that corny uncle that somehow adds life to the party. 😂
Especially when he has one too many gets tipsy then naked and begins chasing the stewardess around the airplane.
