I have to say that when you started this build,I didn't think I would really care for it , being a plastic kit builder, but I have been following it and man, this little boat is really cool. Alot more details and parts involved then I expected. Anyway, I really like it.

I gave up on pristine a long time ago. I like to show wear and tear!

Great video Ben as always your attention to detail is amazing - one small query Ben if I may - the ships wheel looks as though it is the wrong way round as the operator or operators would be facing the stern of the ship which is definitely not correct

That’s how the instructions have you install it 🤷🏻‍♂️ believe me, I double checked.

Throw some black paint on it and the hit is with some sandpaper or wait till the paint starts to dry and then rub it with a rag

How does the helmsman fit between the ships wheel and that hutch? It seems that wheel should have been rotated to the rear?

You stand next to it and watch your feet!

The helmsman would actually stand behind the wheel, not in front of it. The 'Hutch' is actually a binnacle housing, holding the compass and light. This was not 'fixed' in position, but could be moved.

A trivial point: It's belaying pin, not belay pin.

On another channel I just heard them referred to as 'belay pins', so maybe that is an acceptable term. But I have never heard it before, and if you google it you are pointed to "belaying pin". And that term makes more grammatical sense.

it looks like to me that the wheel and that hutch are way too close. the only way a man could work the wheel is from the side which does not seem correct. sorta like trying to steer your car from the passenger seat. but if that's what it shows then that is the way it is and was done.

Those are how the instructions have you do it. I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to stand off to the side and I think it’s a lot easier than we are imagining. The other thing is I have not taken out any of the figures yet. They are to scale and a lot bigger than you would imagine. I think it would help everyone’s perspective.
