It's basically a case of retraining your brain to make adjustments for color differentials...and I'd argue it's a survival thing (color can be an easy way to pick out something safe).

Latias is never orange, red or the colour drifting in the pink part in this light.
Must say that Chilling cheated with the Zoroak too, because the dinosaur is the second pokemon with red.

@@Martin77641, I'd consider Tyrantrum more on the red spectrum (it's kinda on the red/purple end of things) than Zoroark (which I'd consider more black). Ultimately, though, it's all up to them (or their "judges") to decide whether or not something is allowed...I wouldn't even necessarily call the "official" colors (as per Game Freak's coding) right in many cases (ain't no way that Ponyta/Rapidash are yellow or Druddigon is red).
@@BBB_photography_adventures, thing is that, unless you have learned that you're color-blind (usually by having eye tests for another reason or being told that the colors "aren't right"), you're going to see it as whatever color until you retrain your mind to make the adjustments. The fact that color-blindness can go undetected for years (a child doesn't ask "What color is that?" or something similar) makes it harder to diagnose and thereafter adjust the teaching.
Hell, it could slip by parents and not be diagnosed until partway through school...a child could say something "green" was "yellow" and, instead of realizing something was off, the teacher could simply call them incorrect and move on...

To be fair, ever since the move to 3d it does look much more pink than red... but orange? I miss the vibrant sprites we used to have.

B) Quick is colorblind and looked it up to be safe which was the smarter call
C) Chillin continued to call it orange even when Quick called him out
D) you don’t need to look up the colors of Latios or Latías to see the proper color
E) they even joke after this that maybe chillin is colorblind with how off he was at color judging this episode so I don’t know why you think it is at all your place to say any of my comments are incorrect.

I love how scuffed these color challenges are, it's a nice reminder that it's all just a game between two pals. Hopefully nobody gets too upset about the executive decisions made

Well it is not about decisions made of it not being fair or shit, but it is more about insulting the pokemon species or something. Like latias is known to be the red pokemon (of the lati twins), yet here it easily recruited for orange as if a decade of knowledge about this pokemon was thrown into the garbage. So kind of insulting just in total

@@YinsKingdom Thank you. And I must say, I do think it shouldn't be like an outrage and because of it disliking the video and shit like that, but I do think that avoiding these type of things are better to do for future videos because of more mean comments and just not to offend anyone
I like how Chilln balanced out his color mixups by catching a red pokemon for his orange catch and an orange-ish pokemon for his red catch.
The irony of Quick being better at spotting the right colors than Chillin
Makes sense to me...basically living with it allows your brain to readjust to be able to understand what's going on (in daily life, driving, for example...but it stems from a basic survival instinct).

@@Js-eq7yd, if GG got it diagnosed early on, he could've been taught to denote between close colors (like red/pink and blue/green). This would allow him to tell colors slightly better than the average colorblind person. In no way, shape or form, for example, is Latias "orange" (as Chilln decided (even in the lighting)...it's either pink (as many of us see) or red (based on the PokéDex).
Look at it like this...if you're taught from a young age that a stoplight is red/yellow (or amber, depending on your location)/green, you've got comparisons to gauge shade; if you're not taught that baseline, you can't really make the comparison easily (it's also based on your type of colorblindness...you could have trouble denoting between the red/yellow or even the yellow/green spectrums).

With these color challenges, QuickGG should either get extra time to account for the looking things up or should do this on a call with a moderator or other neutral 3rd party to figure out the colors.

In GG's case, I'd probably suggest pulling up the list of "official" PokéDex colors and using that.
Tbf after this I think Chilling might be a little colorblind too, so probably both of them need some type of moderator.

Chillin thought Latias was orange, and QuickGG thought that Tapu Fini was blue.. yeaaaah there’s gotta be some third party for both of them if this challenge comes back. Either that or they pull up the Pokédex to check the colors before they accept the Pokémon.

I have that filter. It’s called my eyes. I feel his pain.
There's different levels of colour blindness, so it would be impossible to find a filter that adjusted to all of them.
QuickGG's colour blindness seems to be really weird, because it doesn't really match any level really, which leads me to believe he's not really colourblind and just has some perception problem or something like that, because sometimes he sees and understands the actual colour, but other times he doesn't.

To better assess the color of a pokemon you gotta look at the gen 4-5 sprites. In those terrible 3d models they look so desaturated and faded that from some angles Latias does in fact look pink (yet definitely not orange lol)

Hey video idea. Catch infinate amounts of pokemon you want for 15 minutes BUT at the end you have to choose your pokemon from what you remember they have. No re-checking their stats instead you have to remember what they had.

Honestly Cinderace is more orange than Latias, because it's pants are some sort of dark burnt-orange, which is between red and orange. Latias is some sort of pink, which is a combination of white and red.

Me and a friend did this, and the subjective differences between us were wild on the colors, though we did a "dominant color" version which increased the subjectivity.
Skipping color day in preschool won’t come back to haunt me later in life.
