Relógios de $100,00, de tecnologia a quartzo são tão ou mais precisos que relógios de R$ 1.000.000,00 mecânicos. É uma questão de eu querer ser visto usando um relógio caro, ou cagar pra isso, como o Bill Gates, que usa relógios descartáveis de plástico. Mas jogadores de futebol e artistas "precisam" de status, então, normalmente são vistos ostentando Rolex(es) chamativos e espalhafatosos. Mas na prática todos marcam a mesma hora e entregam o que prometem: informar a hora com precisão. Eu tenho um Technos desde 91 que não acaba nunca, não atrasa, não adianta, não falha. Quando estragar, periga eu não trocar por nenhum, porque o celular também aposentou o relógio, que ainda continua a ser usado pelo pessoal que se acostumou a ter relógio. Mas a geração mais nova quase não usa relógio. Além do Technos temos o Champion e talvez, ainda, o Mondaine. Mas o que manda mesmo são os descartáveis de camelô Made in China, de marcas genéricas, ou falsificações "legítimas". Embora eu não seja um aficionado por relógios, como designer, gosto de algumas linhas da Seiko, Mido e Tissot, de design sóbrio, fino, com poucos elementos. Mas se fosse comprar um, talvez ficasse com um Casio de mostrador analógico e desenho minimalista. Eu acho que, nos últimos 20/25 anos, a indústria adotou uma tendência de criar modelos exagerados, brutos e de mau-gosto, pesados e grandões, chamativos. São movimentos de marketing e da indústria, que aposta em ciclos de estilo e obsolescência, assim como o tamanho da boca das calças, a largura da gravata, e etc. O movimento tem sido o de fazer modelos exagerados e chamativos, na maioria. O meu Technos é um daqueles imitando aquele modelo clássico e de desenho de domínio público, por ter a patente vencida, do Rolex Submariner, pequeno, mostrador preto. Mas não é mais fabricado naquele tamanho, aumentaram as dimensões, e virou um trambolho.
Japanese watches are the best! I have Casio MTP1183. 10 years old. Still looks good and work very well, very versatile watch too. My uncle have still working Seiko 5 quartz bought in 1999. during war, opened only like two times.
You can't compare 10k high end jewerly watch with 50 bucks workhorse. Cheap quartz casio, wear it every day, in mud, snow, summer, work with it, swim with it, when it dies you buy another one and you're good.

Not true. In England, Davis and Wilsdorf had a company called Wilsdorf and Davis in London. Hans went home to Geneva in 1905 and registered the Rolex name, and later the Tudor name. Rolex was always a Swiss watch.

HMT was popular in India maybe 2 decades ago, now its hard to find anywhere. Its been replaced by Titan and its other brands like Sonata and FastTrack.

@@swissphotographies I’ve visited 2 Swiss manufacturing plants by Swatch, Hondas and Toyotas manufacturing plants, Phillips manufacturing and design studios, and more. A lot of these places have a very similar approach to manufacturing than you may think, but the Japanese have an astounding difference to how they do things. I know i’m blessed to be in a position to visit these plants, but seeing a handful of these companies myself despite them operating in different industries has influenced my views on manufacturing from different countries. This is not by me, but from older colleagues who have told me that manufacturing quality in the West has been on a constant decline and I can agree to some degree as I was not impressed by the setup and operation of the manufacturing facilities in the American and European market. China has potential to do better but it all matters on the specifications given by the company outsourcing their labor. That’s why Apple products have far better quality than your typical knick knacks from Ali Baba, despite being from the same country. I would say the country that produces above average quality goods, consistently, would be Japan without a doubt. Just go to any Japanese multinational manufacturing plant and you’ll be surprised at how well their management is operating their facilities.

I have Timor, UK military dive watch 10 ATM, ... 50 ies, I have got it from my grand dad 40 years ago and is still in a good shape. I heard the brand was reviwed some years ago. I don't know where it is production today. The brand used to be a military watch standard.

it’s all marketing. America and China have the biggest banks, Japan makes the most reliable watches, Belgium makes better chocolates, etc.
