It's taken me some time to taste this. - And my Dad would bring the crates of pint bottles of Guinness home in the 1960's as the start of 'a rant.' - Usually with his brother. I would get a bottle, and my sister would get a bottle of Woodpecker Cider. Anyway, this Porter is excellent. - I once asked my Dad how many pints o Guinness he'd supped... He once said, " 47, with my brother." I asked why he stopped. He said, "We ran out of money!" - He never missed a day of delivering coal! I kid you not. That sort of steady drinking wasn't unusual in the Pennines, at that time. Right. This is much better than the mass produced cans and bottles of the usual Guinness... I didn't expect any hop notes, but to me, it's brimming with them! Yep, as BG says - "Buy it!" Lovely.
I preferred the Guinness Dublin porter to the Guinness original because I found it less bitter . The Guinness West indies porter is superb though really enjoyed it.
Tesco are doing these beers for 1.50 a bottle all 3 original and the porters. This beer is becoming one of my all time favourites just so much flavour.
Been waiting for this one, love that west indies, ddnt care too much for the Dublin, this and the foreign extras are my favourite guinnesses, followed by the draught..I want one now.
I wonder why these beers cost so much more, they can't be that much harder to make than normal? Definitely better than a normal Guinness, funny how with these Guinness drinks the higher the alcohol content the better the taste. I just wish these were available in cans. 6/5 pounds is a lot for 4 beers. And the foreign is in a little kids size bottle.
+saiyaniam More ingredients. Better ingredients. More time. All sorts of reasons. Also if you are selling lots of something (such as Guinness Draught in cans) you can sell it cheaper in bigger bulk.
Iets face it.... If we were drinking dates, toffee, chocolate, nuts, fennel, licorice, wood, benelin, cloves, etc etc etc..... Our stomach would be in an emergency state This beer is simply yeasty and hoppy..... And very good
my favorite out of the guinesses that i have had are the foreign extra stout and the old guiness extra stout. the new one is okay but the older one had more flavor
Missing Beergoggles. RIP.
The West Indies Porter is spot on and my Friday night bottles of choice.
Lovely.

mickylopez1959 I agree. Real Guinness class.
I loved this porter, and I scored it an "A" (most excellent).

Ngamer834 I liked the Dublin Porter but found it too similar to the much cheaper cans of Guinness Original.

3 for £5. Nice. How much enjoyment can you buy these days for £5
It is a good beer, very porter taste, with hint of chocolate, very clear finish, I dont feel like it is a 6%vol. drink
smell i get starts with black berry then ends with fig, taste unsweetened coffee cold tea root liquorice and something like coal.
ufoools oh also first time i drank it in a normal glass, second in a weizen type glass the weizen glass somehow enhanced everything.
ufoools Nice taste notes my friend. Damn good beer this.
Another spot on one Terry. one day I'm gonna find a beer that you haven't consumed before me...... one day fella!
This one is a regular on my supermarket shopping list. I actually believe it does me good. It tastes full of goodness.
the west indies porter is good but i remember the foreign extra stout being a little more flavorful
Not much in it but this is half the price

TheSlobfather A pukka brew mate. Beautiful toasty roasty naughtiness.
I didn't know that Mick Fleetwood was a beer taster and reviewer.

I really like this beer. It's tastes like dark fruit cake and coffee.
