This album should be heard from start to end. I’ve seen all his tours since 75. Hung out with him and he is so smart, funny and approachable. Going next Saturday to see him here in Dallas.
Nicest Guy In RocknRoll
I saw Alice Cooper sing this song on the Muppet Show back in the early 80's I think. Hard to hear this song without envisioning Muppets dancing around : )
Alice puts on one hell of a show, and those of us that live in Phoenix run into him out and about all the time. He's the nicest guy.
Check out Alice - 'fire fight Australia' STOLE THE DAY!!!!!!!
Been to his Christmas Pudding show a few times and he's always great... I've had friends that play a lot of golf run into him over the years and he's always cool. He played at the Cave Creek Music Festival years ago and he was great.
Alice RULES!
I saw him Wednesday and he put on an amazing show along with the rest of his band. Still rocking hard at 75.
best album he ever made.. imo
Wow, I'm a very old fellow. I remember when Alice was THE Shock Rocker. Welcome to my Nightmare was a television special, and now Alice is hitting golf balls on the celebrity old-boy circuit. We would never have guessed at the time. Not when you had to hide his albums from the parents, LOL
Alice Cooper is a great charisma, whoever saw his concerts can make sure, I like it, there is also a beautiful ballad, "I never cry".
I saw this concert in Phoenix, Easter Sunday, 1975. It was my first Alice Cooper concert and I was hooked. I've enjoyed his music and concerts throughout my life. He's such a nice, good person.
Always the showman. Saw him in the 80s with Motorhead supporting
First time I saw Alice was in 1975 or 1976. It was amazing. The show the guys from Lou Reeds band . It was just before his melt down. He is great guy and never curses or defames religion. Dick Wagner, Steve Hunter, Prakash John, and Davey Johnstone in the late 70's were amazing. Just saw him again and he is touring with Rob Zombie .... Nita Strauss is on
e of the best guitarists at this time.
Another one of my favs. It will never get better than Alice cooper .facts ! Talent x1milllion
Alice set a precedent, by starring in a late night special promoting the album, along with VINCENT PRICE, who appeared as "The Spirit of the Nightmare," (and lent his voice to the track "Devil's Food"). If you can find the DVD or Blu-Ray, it's worth watching it as a 70's time capsule.
You've probably heard I'm Eighteen, possibly Poison -- a big hit in late 80's with MTV rotation, and you may know Feed My Frankenstein from Wayne's World.
This album is one of my favourite albums of all time
This was my first concert ever at 16. We had press passes. The tour was called Welcome to Ny Nightmare. Stage was full of cobwebs and giant spiders 🕷 It was amazing!
That was fun...love Alice Cooper 🔥
Only woman bleed was another 70’s awesome song from Alice
Saw him in Montreal a few times. One show opened with this song.
He sang a whole verse with the lights off . When he came in with welcome to my breakdown the lights came on and he shot out of a coffin.
That tour in 1975 was my first concert....Ok up next Halo of Flies.
Great reaction. You guys shoukd domthe whole album. It is fantastic! Technically this is Alice’s first solo album. For my money he has never topped it. The band is the same band that appears on Lou Reed’’s live album ‘rock n roll animal’ (also worth checking out). They kick some serious ass
Saw Alice do this tour the day after I graduated high school. June 22 1978. Philly Spectrum. Opening act… Blondie. GA, front and center.
I personally love From The Inside and Flush The Fashion albums. Really you can't go wrong with any Alice Cooper album.
Alice Cooper folks, just amazing.
You got to go see him live its nuts from Detroit Michigan lives in AZ. He is one the road.
I'd say there are a few other songs on this album that are even better Halloween songs. The two after this one, "Devil's Food" and "The Black Widow" are for sure (must be played back to back). But also the songs "Cold Ethyl" and "Steven".
The funk comes from Dick Wagner & Steve Hunter on the guitars & Tony Levin on bass.
I had a cat I named Alice after Alice Cooper. lol!
Alice Cooper famously performed this on the Muppet Show. When they called him and invited him to be on, he thought it was a mistake - that he was being asked to do a children's show. He asked what other guests had performed on the show and when they told him Vincent Price had done the show, he said, "I'm in!"
I remember Kermit was worrying about the special effects invoice !!!!
"Devil's Food / Black Widow" - "Some Folks" - "Only Women Bleed" - "Department of Youth" should be the next on your list from this album.
Basically the whole album 😆
If had to choose 2
Black Widow
Only Women Bleed
Though of course not an easy choice.
@@jgsrhythm100 the lyrics are great in only women bleed but i think that they should here steven
@@yonatanmeiron6725 Yonatan is my Hebrew name!
Department of Yourh by Alice is fire. 🫣😎👍
This was a concept album about a boy named Steven. His other big song from back in the day was Billion Dollar Babies. You should add that to your list.
I live in the Phoenix area! He’s the coolest dude! Ty I like your Phoenix Suns merch. Been to many games a blast. Come for a visit if you haven’t been. I’ve been through KY many times. Beautiful state. I miss my roots . You all are amazing! Enjoy your channel! Watch all of the time! I can tell Ty you dabbled in drums. I’m musician singer songwriter. I’m a professional. Fun time toured with big names record now enjoying what I love to do outside of music. Music is in my blood! You all have a great friendships . Totally awesome! Take care! 😊🫶🦃🎸☀️🌵🇺🇸🙏
Alice didn't put on a concert he put on a SHOW there was actually a TV Halloween special called Welcome to my Nightmare Alice had Vincent Price on it. My favorite's are Eighteen, Under My Wheels, Billion Dollar Babies and Elected
Brilliant reaction!!! You guys totally got the concept,100% !! Regarding Jim Morrison Alice Cooper opened for the Doors in the late 60's. While performing a song "Nobody Likes Me" and shouting "You hate me' You hate me" he freaked the drug induced crowd out so much they went running for their lives, literally clearing the room!! There soon to be manager "Shep Gordon" was so impressed by the crowds response , to the point that they would actually bail on The Doors,he thought all we have to do is reverse that energy, lol. a few years later were filling stadiums!
excellent reaction, you guys have good ears. first time watcher i'll check out some more. nightmare is a great song by alice's new band of hired guns. he just left his original crew when he did this track. i love the comment about how it made you feel trapped. great insight. so glad you just listen and don't do videos or lyrics. at least the first time, you have to let your ears guide you.
Gotta watch the stage show with this song
I saw this concert at the Forum in L.A. in 1975, even did my face up like his. Fun concert.
I associate this song with the movie nightmares on elm street, Freddy Krueger, "welcome to nightmares", my nightmares, like it, still relevant
I listen this album since 1975 and i do not get enough ,you have to listen this album entirety to know the story of Steven ,the best album of Alice , maybe with Killer .
This album is also one of the best sounding DVD-Audio discs out there. Crystal clear and very detailed.
Hi guys. This my fav album of his. Not one song is bad, but you do have to listen ALL the way thru!
If you want that atmosphere like you mentioned in ballad of Dwight Fry then you should listen to Steven, immediately, by Alice Cooper.
K I'm old now .. I saw this first I. Muppet show .. N loved !! They did long form of song song to calling out to Steven .. N all the big baddy monsters jammed out wit Alice in his bedroom .. Was great ..
Yes Thank You!!! The bands name was originally Alice Cooper though the audience assumed singer Vincent Furnier was Alice. Vince became Alice and this album was when it became a solo project vs a band. Definiley a major shift and far more theatrical. This whole album is a masterpiece and this track merely the introduction! I suggest at least a few more earlier tracks before delving into his brilliant later70's material.
Next 'Billion Dollar Babies" (73) with additional vocals by Donovan!
Though if from this album has got to be
1) "The Black Widow" (with introduction by Vincent Price)
2) "Only Women Bleed"
but audio tracks please. Both brilliant!
MORE BAND MAID!!!! They are on a US tour as we speak!
The album is heavily disco influenced. It was 1975
Do the Yacht Rock side of Alice...You And Me/I Never Cry/Only Women Bleed. Three brilliant Lite Rock tunes!!!
Hey guys, Alice is an icon and has a lot more songs than just School's Out and No More Mr Nice Guy. If you get a chance, you should check out, I"m Eighteen, Billion Dollar Babies, Under My Wheels, Poison, Be My Lover, Feed My Frankenstein and there's so many more. If you wanted a more scary one for Halloween, go with I Love the Dead or Sickthings. Cheers!
Great song, and loved your reaction, thanks guys!
Guys, I highly recommend y’all check out the Supergroup - Hollywood Vampires - Hero!
Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, Joe Perry. Johnny’s vocals on this cover of David Bowie’s Hero is amazing.
I've seen Alice 3 times, the last time just before Covid hit. He is awesome live, despite being in his 70's. On bass on this track is Tony Levin, who went on to join King Crimson and play for Peter Gabriel. And that noise you were wondering, it's keyboards...
Alice Cooper - Killer was a good album. ,Songs, Killer,, You drive me nervous,,Halo of flies
I child of the likes of Jason Vorhees, Micheal Meyers and Freddy Kruger I always think of Alice explaining the trauma of the slasher movies of the '80s.
He did this on the muppet show
Best concert ever.
He is on the road live now I think he is going to the UK and Europe right now.
I love Alice Cooper, cold ethyl is also a good song.
I think what you were looking for or expected can definitely be found in COLD ETHYL
my first concert was this tour. 1975, front row, f'd up!
One of his newer songs I love is Might as Well Be On Mars, he said he kind of had a Blade Runner thought when setting up the mood.
David Bowie - Young Americans, Fame and so many more
Love the videos, especially the Al Stewart stuff. How about some Nick Drake, especially Pink Moon, Northern Sky and One of These Things First.
Good call on the Jim Morrison comparison. There's an earlier A.C. song, "Desperado", that was an homage to J.M. The whole album is pretty diverse. Rock, jazz, ballads, pop, with the spookier stuff near the end. And as somebody already mentioned there's a good rocker near the beginning called "Black Widow" that's narrated by a classic horror movie legend named Vincent Price. I think the whole album is a really cool ride
Take a listen to any song off of his album "Killer"...I think that's prime Alice. This is whole album tells a story...the whole thing is pretty awesome. Keep up the good work.
You need to play the entire album in its entirety as it goes through a story of insanity
Would have preferred my suggestion Feed My Frankenstein 😁 but this is good too! Saw Alice's show just a few months ago, it is still fantastic and one of my favorite concert experiences - again (I think it's 3 times now)
Definitely a doors sound... I always thought that
FOR HALLOWEEN, listen to YEARS AGO of the same album. SUPER CREEPY!!!
I was wondering is you would do this one. Always good to hear Alice Cooper. Live he puts on an amazing show.
Another classic Alice Cooper song. For some newer songs of his try Brutal Planet and I'm Alice.
Check out Fire from 1968, by Crazy Arthur Brown. He started it all!
Classic Album , check out Years ago,Steven & The Awakening, need to play all 3 tracks together
You've got so much to learn about Alice so, as they say when you're getting into a hotrod, "Get in, sit down, shut up and hold on" 🤣🤣!!! Welcome to your nightmare !!! I think you're gonna like it ...
So i came in late and had to go back to the beginning. Nick your face couldn't take anymore at 8:25... 😂 When i was young i really was afraid of him (his eyes). I was afraid of the video too... But i watched his Behind the Music and Biography. He is very interesting and i have mad respect for him!!! Plus his cameo was so fun in Wayne's World! Not my favorite, but good Halloween song!
u guys haven't heard "Feed my Frankenstein?"
Alice Cooper does like his horns and orchestration. Even though this is not his original band that did Ballad of Dwight Fry, it's still pretty cool, and the production value is excellent. Eventually you must listen to more of his earlier work, with the original band. His radio hits are really the lamest of his songs.
Элис Купер топ
My opening song for Halloween Scaryoke weekend at the bar I DJ at :)
Happy Halloween 🎃
I liked your takes.
If you want a different feel that you might not expect from Alice, try "I Never Cry"
And "You and Me," a completely unexpected hit ballad.
Or Only Women Bleed
Love them saxes....dang!
That synth may have been a moog device I had a little portable 1 I got at the yard sale 1 time in mid 70s
React to the Muppet Show version!! That's the definitive version!
You should listen to "Dead Babies".
Wicked.
Definetely different.
another Alice Cooper song you should hear is late eighties early ninties song called hey stoopid it's a anti drug song but is really hair metalish catchy
Hell no. probably his worst period
Alice is my hero, can't believe these guys don't know much Alice! Educate yourself 😊
What about Eighteen? Surely you’ve heard that.
As others have said, the album should be taken as a whole. You get a much better understanding of all the songs when you listen to all of them. The story of Steven can be seen to be extended in later albums, where you can find songs that fit with the WTMN album. Along Came A Spider is regarded as another Steven album, even if it isn't explicitly so. The Welcome 2 My Nightmare sequel seems to conclude (in my opinion) the story of Steven. I think Alice Cooper could put together a rock opera about Steven.
I remember as a kid hearing this song on The Muppet show with Alice Cooper it was awesome. Here is the link to that video if you want to check it out ua-cam.com/video/IZg_HE3V5tE/v-deo.html
Maybe wrong but don’t think that you did Scaretale, or the Phantom of the opera by Nightwish. Maybe appropriate for the season. Time to return to them
Check out Hollywood vampires
Billion Dollar Babies.
COLD ETHYL
PLEASE DO BLACK WIDOW WITH VINCENT PRICE INTRO
Ok think I missmoshed couple shows .. But Muppets was a fun
In the spirit of Joe Biden, i have only two words: When is the next Al Stewart reaction??!!
They have to take the ‘Roads to Moscow’
I suggest "On The Border" for a different sound from what they have listened to so far.
@Scifi and Donna, I agree with you both and don't envy the guys having to choose. I can see reasons for both. But either way it's a win! (Although, I confess my earworm for September/Oct has been RtM, the last 2 weeks it's been constant Josephine Baker (live)...lol.)
Thanks for your fun reaction! As some others have requested, I'm suggesting Halo of Flies for your next Alice Cooper song.
1) It's considered among his best songs, and would be new to all of you (it's my favorite of his).
2) This is his prog-rock masterpiece. In the early 70's, with the rise of prog-rock, his band was getting labeled as "untalented shock-rockers". They said "here, hold our beers", and crafted this epic song with lots of different feels and tempos, a drum solo, great bass work, etc.
3) This is more like hard-rock or even metal, especially the fast-paced midsection, as compared to the theatrical rock of the other 2 songs of his you've reacted to.
