  • Zhiyun Fiveray M20C Combo Kit 20W pocket RGB light review.
Zhiyun Fiveray M20C is a compact, but powerful light with 20W of power and adorable kit, that includes honeycomb grid and even barn-doors. Zhiyun Fiveray M20C also supports full RGB spectrum as well as 2500K to 10000K CCT range and 95+ CRI rating. Zhiyun Fiveray M20C has a lot of customizable color effects, magnets, a lot of mounting points, good battery life and great brightness in both CCT and RGB modes. Zhiyun Fiveray M20C also uses an easy to use App and can be paired with other Zhiyun lights. In this video I'll be making a comparison of Zhiyun Fiveray M20C with Yongnuo 360 II, a traditional 8W pocket light and with a big 80W COB light Sokani X60 with RGB LEDs. Enjoy watching Zhiyun Fiveray M20C Combo kit in-depth review.

Which pocket light would you pick - Zhiyun M20C or the Aputure MC Pro and why?

Thank you for this review. I do a lot of single interview filming in office environments where the lighting is uncontrollable. My light kit is frequently used to provide fill lighting to counter the overhead fixtures that can’t be turned off. I purchased two of these lights and they work great while packing small even with light stands. A carry bag instead of a rolling kit. I haven’t tried these as primary lighting yet, we’ll see. Two points I would like to add. First, the internal battery capacity times are uneven, it’s rated for an hour at 50% intensity but it will run out with mixed color temperatures at 75% in 45 minutes. Not sure if dialed over to one extreme will last longer. Second, you can run these lights off of a USB power source but it’s very dependent on the output wattage of the power supply. A common AC power strip with USB ports often only puts out around 5 watts per port, so the M20 will only go to 25% intensity. A budget Anker 20w USB power supply will power up to 90% intensity, the M20 indicates it’s receiving 18 watts. Nifty light.

I cannot connect to the app via Bluetooth. How did you get your phone connected

It was pretty seamless… try to restart the phone and reset Bluetooth on the device itself

The unit works fine manually, but not through the ZY Vega app. Bluetooth will not work even after resetting. Maybe an android device problem.

Worst compact light ever for outdoors. Totally exposed for the elements.

Which compact light would be better if I may ask?

Why would you even use this low-power light outdoors? That's a bit weird)) if you need a whether-proof light - you'll be paying a lot more, don't forget)

@@NOlimitsON I'm a wildlife filmmaker and photographer. It's wonderful to film or photograph small things or light up the shadows a bit or add accent light like for insects, mushrooms, etc. I own 2 cheap $30 lights that has 2 sides (one side is RGB, the other is CCT) and with aluminum build and it's pretty strong for what it is, not sure how many watts. I also use compact 60W-100W COB lights on camera. If interested, I can send you youtube links.
Also during our monsoon season it's nearly daily light rain/drizzles. Doesn't need to be 100% waterproof but at least has some mild weather sealing. Most of the time they're soaked wet, including the DJI Mic, with zero problems.
