This is the closest non-Fender product to the Fender Sixty-Six, and I'm here for it. I'd bet that would look amazeballs with a Starcaster/Mooncaster neck!
Warmoth needs to offer that Fender Deluxe/AmPro style neck joint. Other aftermarket parts makers offer it and Allparts sells the neck plates. PLEASE????😊😊
Good luck. They won't roll fingerboard edges and they won't give us a reasonable heel contour. I'll never get a Warmoth neck ever again. They feel obsolete.. even Chinese strats have rolled fingerboard edges nowadays..
Yes! Their raison d'être is "Fender Compatible Parts". That contoured heel joint is mainstream Fender now. Drilling neck for big blocky heel is retrograde. 😞
Looks great! After looking at the website, I have some suggestions that I hope Warmoth will take into serious consideration. 1. Give the option of making the Dinkycaster body semi-hollow. 2. Give the option of having either a jazzmaster/jaguar and mustang trem systems. 3. Where the pickguard is concerned, allow for an angled bridge humbucker, in both standard and reversed positions. 4. Allow for a hole to be placed in the lower horn for a toggle switch or a master volume knob. This goes for the traditional selector switch area as well for those who prefer a toggle over a tip type switch.
I heartily endorse #4. The control space is currently like a very cramped strat and would benefit by carving into that horn real estate. The Dinky manages to be a 25.5" scale offset with even less room than a Jaguar which feels like a tough sell compared to the 34" inch bass where just being smaller is a plus.
So cool! Would love to see the body shape outline, overlayed to see the difference. I have a video showing this between a Strat and Charvel’s Dinky (part 4). You guys should too. 😊 Love that you guys are riffing on traditional body shapes! Awesome as always Aaron and Warmoth!
I have a 90’s MIJ Fender Strat with a three bolt neck. The bass wood body spilt due to an accident. A few years back I ordered a Strat replacement alder body from Warmoth and the three bolt holes aligned perfectly with the existing neck. The pick guard needed a bit of a jiggle but the holes were near perfect too.
For me, Spike in Warmoth customer service is unbelievably knowledgeable and helpful. I've called him a million times with questions. He literally knows EVERYTHING.
Congrats on your new creation - I love the extended cutaway! Though I’m honestly not a fan of Fender’s offset guitars, I adore the Jazz Bass. To me, your Dinkycaster looks much more like a Jazz Bass than any of Fender’s offset guitars - that’s a job well done in my book!
@@IrateWizrd yes, and if I remember correctly, there was some kind of lawsuit involved. Which is weird since many companies have made this shape, including Hamer.

That is a really sweet looking offset strat or offstrat. It looks really well balanced, and just all around like a great guitar. Warmoth has a winner with this one.
One thing to note is the upper-horn is longer than a Strat, but the knee cut is further back, which means less neck heavy when standing, but more when sitting.
My first and only customer built guitar was a dinky sized Strat by the Great Steve Spalding in the mid 80’s. Still have it, and was my main guitar for 40 years. It also had a Warmoth neck!!!! Only suggestion is why not make that curved cut on the neck pocket for better access to the upper frets! Keep ‘ em coming 💥👍
Aaron, That stressed me out a bit taking that apart since I own one of those AM Pro 2 Strats. One of my favorite guitars. You did a great job doing it though. Good luck with the new body.
I just bought one of those in the Mystic Surf Green color. I've had strats before, but I've rarely played them and always sold them. This time, I think this one will be my forever strat.
I was bummed when I found out the Fender Sixty Six wasn't going to be made in a left handed version, so it's cool that Warmoth is now offering this shape. It's a shame I'm not in the market for guitars. Maybe one day I'll have one.
@@ewm335 This won't fit a Warmoth Modern neck with the side adjust mechanism though 😒 But since Aaron now has a surplus Fender American Pro body, he might experiment with that... 😏 (-> which Warmoth necks fit that body and which don't? Wouldn't that be interesting!?)
Seeing new Warmoth products puts a smile on my face. And the world is brighter with you making videos, Aaron :) I hope you guys are thinking about new neck profiles too. I’d love a C profile, a bit thicker than the standard thin.
Why the heck would I want to give Fender crazy money for one of their necks, when I could get a flame maple one from Warmoth? Oh that's right I already have a Fender neck. Oh well I guess I could sell my Fender body. I apologize. I should probably keep my Fender guitar together. Thank you Fender for allowing custom licensed copies of your headstock designs. And thank you Leo for those designs. With a little inspiration from Paul.
He tore that down like he worked in some kinda "Gone in 60 seconds" guitar chop shop! The new body is cool, but I still like Warmoth's take on the Musiclander so much. I am thinking about my next guitar, which will definitely be from Warmoth, 'cuz nobody else builds what I want and dream about... but if you had something like a "white" equivalent of the beautiful holoflake, or something like the new Fender "chrome glow" finish, I'd be buying a lot faster!
For a moment, I thought you were going to make something like a Jackson Dinky style body, which is a scaled down version of the Strat as well... Then I remembered you already make the Soloist, heh. I guess one difference would be that Jackson Dinkys, although very rarely, also came with pickguards as well, which you don't offer for the Soloist... Except for the 7/8 S-Style body... Then the only difference is the sharper edge radius of the Jackson Dinkys, which I love. If you are confused by what I'm talking about, look up a Jackson PS-1.
I love how much room the rear-routed variant's control cavity has! This could be my alternative to a Nomad, the only price difference being $20 because rear-routed controls are not standard. Can you estimate how much smaller the Dinkycaster is than one of the larger body styles, like a nomad?
Man the controls are making me claustrophobic. Did you find the switch and/or knob placement too tight? I think I might leave the volume pot blank on that and settle for a master tone. ..... it's hard to say over UA-cam!
Ok, I didn't like it from the pictures but after seeing it in 3D (albeit on a 2D screen) I am starting to dig it! Especially the smaller size. Now, please sort out an LP/Regal double-cutaway body, preferably with double-binding option ;)

Looks very very cool, honestly been lusting over a Warmoth build for like a decade at this point. Being in Europe the shipping has always held me back but I'm going to do it in the next 12 months. It's time.

My biggest peeves with offsets is they tend not to fit standard cases (but this is a fairly modest offset, so I hope its not a problem) and they don't sit well on guitar stands (unless it is the type of stand where the guitar actually hags by the headstock).
