I have always enjoyed how he treats every video like somone is watching a painting video for the first time, but he also dodges sounding condescending or like some kind of know it all
Those Dothraki miniatures are really nice, I should really come back around to ASOIF. Great tips overall, the tips about adding the Targaryen Reds and Whites really helps to avoid and otherwise drab looking model.
The tone and rhythm of Duncan's voice are so calming that I listen to his vids while debugging tangled code programmed by baboons to avoid raging and pulling all my hairs off.
I just want to say that you have been a massive inspiration for me. I am relatively new to 40K and I got excited when you were the painter in a GW video. Now that you're doing your own thing, it's really cool! I always look forward to these videos!
Cheers Duncan : years ago back in the 1970's I obtained a catalogue from Historex which had a section on painting horses and even today when painting animals I refer to it, as even a basic horse has so many defined areas but yours looks good painted in dark colours. Cheers for sharing.
That's fantastic! Really interested in the ASoIaF game. Also the warpaint on the horse is brilliant - wish I could get it as good on my Bonesplitterz Boarboyz - but it's all practice!
Hey Duncan you should look into painting some of the darkest dungeon miniatures from the board game mythic is making. There's a bunch of choices and they all look fantastic. I'm not sure when the game launches but I think you could have some great fun.
Duncan, you've become a bit of a meme with "Thin your paints" line, it is all done in good fun and in theme with what you like. Such as "Thin your paints or I thin your ranks!" With your photoshopped as a Commissar aiming a bolter at the viewer. How do you feel about becoming a meme yourself?
Hi Abe, we already have. We have a full tutorial in the Academy (duncanrhodes.com) covering everything you need to know to paint that magnificent miniature (or should we say 'big'iture?!?!?)
I'm finally getting round to trying to paint my metal fellowship and have an idea of doing cloaks so that its hard to immediately see if they are grey or green - any hints as to how to do this sort of optical trick?
I find the number of paint used daunting. Does a model need to be completed quickly (all paints to hand) or can the colour (and cost) be spread over a number of weeks?
There's no technical reason why you need to paint your models all in one go, or at speed. The paint finish is unaffected. If you're in no mad rush to get an army completed for gaming, you can take it at your own pace.
Just use the base coats, maybe using the same colour for the wood and leather. You usually can get away with using a single wash for all of the model, or can just forgo shading it entirely. Also prioritise drybrushing if you really need to do some highlights.
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA Monochrome or greyscale models. I/he intends to paint a spooky space marine squad made of ghosts from all different chapters, with a kind of old black & white movie feel, but not so muted as to be boring. Think Dracula.
You do it great on the Camera, but you only show a few paint strokes and then the final part :( how about showing some more painting and talking over it? I love seeing your videos, the technique and your amazing to explain the steps, but I’m sadly feeling I’m seeing you more, than the actual painting process

Thanks Pete. Yeah, it can be tough to add variety to 'earthly' colours but some spot colours to tie the Army together can really help 😊

The miniature looks great and the painting is fantastic! Thanks for sharing this tutorial.
Duncan, I absolutely LOVE your ASOIAF content lately! fantastic game with amazing minis!
Excellent! I've never seen that game's miniatures close up before - really nice sculpt.
a Duncan painting video is like balm for my soul

has a single dot of paint ever made such a difference, that eye 👌
this gives me two thin coats of happieness
thank you i have been lookeing for a way to make Dothraki-esc Whitescars
It's nice seeing you be able to use other paint brands than citadel now.

CMON has come a long way!
Hi Duncan, it would be really nice to see how you would paint a 15mm figure, for example a flames of war figure. love your work greetings from Denmark
Great tutorial Duncan.
Just a quick note - for bay horses you should also darken the muzzle and ear-tips in the same way as the lower legs.
Great paint scheme
Thanks Mike :-)
Yay! Another video to make me feel inferior. Top stuff. You've got a steadier hand than Solid Snake after a Diazepam.
Lol

Season 6 was a great finale!
Duncan great series, but how about doing a series on the basics, choice of paints, brushes etc., maybe some simpler models for noobs.
This was amazing, thanks!
Not going lie to that Regiment brush by Army painter is a thing of beauty
Great work!
Epic Work!

Is there any chance u can paint the silent king? I’m super new to the hobby and bought it but now I’m like how do I paint this behemoth.

Good luck!
My mans is at it again!
Hey! Could you do shadow sun because I bought her for my army and can’t find any good tutorials out there thanks
Duncan, your are spoiling us
A video on how you did the base would be relly helpful!
Hi Jools. We actually did a full tutorial for the grasslands base on our website (duncanrhodes.com) 😊
Hi Duncan, please more asoiaf tmg, I really enjoyed it
THANK YOU DUNCAN!
LOOOOOVE this channel! Will you ever use P3 paints?
Wild!
I'm finally getting round to trying to paint my metal fellowship and have an idea of doing cloaks so that its hard to immediately see if they are grey or green - any hints as to how to do this sort of optical trick?
How about paint them with your preferred grey recipe and then drop some green glazes into choice areas and the recesses?
That's a good horse.
Duncan we are not worthy
Thank you , DRPA .
Hi,
Could you prepare a movie about glaze? How to use it? What can we gat thanks it?
Would you do a batrep for ASOIAF miniature game??
Two first coats!
Yes!!!!!!
Nice!
Dunkan, are you out of Games Worshop ???
Do you use the Uniform Grey as a primer or do I need to prime before the Zandri Dust or Uniform Grey?
Hi Jean. We used Zandri Dust Spray as our Primer.
Amazing, really amazing. One question: what scale are your figures?
The Song of Ice & Fire Wargame is 32mm scale
Whenever I watch a tutorial and they use Vallejo products my shoulders sink. I find their paints really difficult to get hold off where I live.
Thank you for doing a horse

Is there a budget version of this? I can imagine most having this array of paint their disposal

Learn to mix colors yourself. Just buy Black white yellow blue Red and metallics
Does Mr. Rhodes do requests? Just asking for... erm... a friend of mine (yes, that'll do...)
What is your...sorrry, you're friends request?

i was actually a dothraki on game of thrones
Nice ☺
How can I light up this comment so that it stands out from the rest. Great job especially the horse.
