In relation to the ABs vs England, these 2 upcoming games will be England’s best chance to beat the ABs & I have England as favourites to at least draw the series & maybe even win it 2-0. My reasons are… The way the ABs season is structured, is that the ABs play all of their games in 1 ‘6 month clump’ - the June series, the Rugby Championship & then the NH End of Year Internationals & then a 6-7 month until the next June Series. Whereas the NH Countries have the 6 Nations, a few months break, the June Internationals, a few months break, the Autum Internationals, a few months break & then back into the 6 Nations. And this time around, England have had a warm-up game against Japan and have had Steve Borthwick etc at the Coaching Helm since leading into RWC23. So with the ABs playing their first game under a new Coach with the likelihood of new AB Players/Combinations, I would put England as favourites, albeit close, for the opening test down in Dunedin. Fortress Eden Park may even be too soon for the latest AB group to protect. It’s not all doom & gloom as the ABs are simply starting their journey with this new group of Coaches & Players which I am excited about & looking forward to see their growth with the next pinnacle being RWC27. It will be interesting though to see if this initial squad is being picked for the 3 games & then the squad changes slightly for the Rugby Championship & then changes again for End of Year Tour as the plans start to role out for RWC27. And while England picked a squad of 35-36 to tour, why are the ABs only picking 32 for a Home Series? Are those the rules or can the ABs also pick a squad of 35-36? Or is it an official squad of 32 with 4 extra players being brought in to help with 'training'...?
@@bassk9939 Yeah, since that post I have tweaked my thinking. As Razor said this 32 player squad is (more) about the ‘here & now’ to play/beat England so it is almost based on proven players/combinations of that first ‘23’ & then the other 9 as cover with the other 4/5 as extra cover/apprentices to see where they are at especially for the game against Fiji. Given that there was still the SR Final to go which could have incurred injuries to key players, given that when the squad could be named, when it came together, all of the PR etc they would have to do, how few training sessions they will actually have, especially those SR Final players doing their post-match recovery, before naming the starting 15 & the bench for the Test on the 6th July, I reckon that this squad of 32 was picked based primarily/solely on the 23 to be named to face England. There will be changes/additions for the Rugby Championship Squad & more than likely a few more changes again for the End of Year (NZ Autumn’s Squad) & going forward. With the expected return of Jordan, Roigard etc, the selection of the Maori ABs & the ABs (2nd) XV, that will show us where the depth is coming from. Then there are the current batch of U20s, U18s & those who are doing their time with the 7s, maybe Mounga, Frizzel etc. ‘We’ also have to keep an eye out for ‘late developers’ who aren’t currently on the radar or maybe a Tall Black, a Rower/Canoer, an America;s Cup Grinder, a ‘Brad Thorne’ who would like to try a switch of sports. Or we could get Kevin Barrett to advise some other ex-players on how to go home & breed some future ABs… Exciting times
From a ‘fans’ perspective… Convenience of terminology: Are the NZ SR teams Franchises or (traditional) Clubs? How many U5s, U7s, ‘Ripper’ Teams do each of the SR teams have? For me the SR Teams are Franchises. With regards to expanding the SR Profile/Game, which Japanese Club or which US Franchise would ever actually win a game against any of the NZ SR Teams or would they be just a poor relation like the Sunwolves were? As a fan, I want teams who can contribute more to the competition as opposed to only money to pay for the Execs expenses. I keep banging on about it but get more games for the AB 2nd XVs, the Maori ABs and even create an AB Barbarians/Guest Team where the likes of old, new players could gain experience so that the likes of Fabien Holland, Anton Segner, Players needing game time, some U20s mixed with some ‘old’ boys or even NPC/Heartland players could just add to the depth of NZ Rugby. Even if the games are against Tier 2, 3 etc Countries or even Clubs in the Top14, Gallagher Premirship etc - just get games under the belt, experiences for players, improve the ABs Brand, a varied type of game for the fan to watch and hopefully not as a financial loss to the NZR/Grassroots rugby & doesn't involve Player Burnout. The overseas Broadcast/Content (I get to watch) is not as ‘complete’ as the NZ televised version. The coverage (I see) basically starts as the Players are leaving the tunnel to start the match & then the coverage stops just a few seconds after the Final Whistle with maybe the respective Captains immediate On-Pitch Post-Match interview. I personally would like to see more build-up & Post Match analysis/comment (if it was with Pundits I could relate to and/or tolerate).
10:50 This is debatable. And quite ironic The Blues won the Super Rugby championship by employing a very Northern Hemisphere style of rugby. Beating their fellow New Zealand teams-the Hurricanes, Chiefs, and Caders-who each played a traditional All Black Southern Hemisphere style of rugby. However, the panel is asserting that this style won't be effective against Northern Hemisphere nations and that we need to continue playing an expansive game?
Blues proved that the forward dominant play beats the running game style. A dominant forward pack combined with rush defense can shut down the All Blacks game.
@@stealthpakfaI agree. It makes you wonder how a team like La Rochelle would fare in Super Rugby. Their players are even bigger than the Blues! If they played in the same style, or if South African teams were still part of the competition, New Zealand teams would need to adapt quickly. They're too used to playing a fast-paced, attacking game against each other. It's almost a relief that the Blues have highlighted the different styles of rugby for us. Barring the Blues, all the NZ teams now function as All Black trial teams with no unique style, which will eventually be exposed when they face different opposition who bring a different level of physicality.
They assert that you can’t beat someone at their own game. Which is true. No one else can out run NZ, the same way you’re not going to out muscle the South Africans.

Interestingly Toulouse just edged out La Rochelle this weekend with their rolling-with-the-punches, expansive style of game. If they ripped the Band-Aid off for Super Rugby’s eligibility criteria (ie let Kiwis, Aussies and anyone else play for whoever and still stay eligible for their national sides) I would love to see the Force turn into a quasi Saffa side (with a good chunk of Aussies too) so that we’d have that South African style of game back into Super Rugby without having the expensive travel burden and out of kilter time zones.
@@mthabitX And didn't the Bulls (or one of the SA teams) make it into the SR Final without having played a single NZ Team all year due the the Groups etc that they played under that year?

All rosey and glossy from the Super Rugby chair, meanwhile Rugby continues to die a slow death in Australia - helped along by a terrible Super Rugby comp
Why don't the big NH teams or SA adopt that Blues style against the ABs? - It obviously works and they have big enough 'athletes'? e.g France the Boks etc
All blacks were in the finale World Cup 2023 and all blacks with 14 dominated boks . So it don’t work . Now with Razor , all blacks will smash all the teams with strong row ( just with blues canes chiefs saders players ).
@@DrissZyani-bu5mo What? the Blues just won the comp and the style does work lol (also the Boks didnt use that style in the final) My point is it will interesting to see if International sides who have 'Big athletes' (Will Skeltons, Romaine Taofifenua, Posolo Tuilagi etc) - Adopt the same style as the Blues going forward as the Blues have dominated Super Rugby (against All Black filled teams) with it
Not one of the knockout games were close. The final 41-10 was a white wash. The Super competition needed a classic with a winning try in extra time. The final wasnt even close. I wager that game did nothing to grow super rugby.
@@TheLIMREPORT Nah I doubt even the Cheetahs would wanna be in your comp now, the Australians can barely keep up their end budget wise, it's a sinking ship.
The other four SA Provinces (Cheetahs, Pumas, Kings and Griquas) will possibly be in a second division URC in the not too distant future to give Scotland more teams and have additional depth for the Welsh, Irish and Italians to play off. That will likely be the next progression now that Glasgow has won the URC and if Scottish momentum continues.
Are you saying that the SA teams who are not even good enough for the URC, effectively SA 3rd Div teams, are good enough to compete with the 5 NZ SR Teams? Mate, you're having a laugh. The much better top tier SA SR teams were really only competitive on their own home soil in their day anyway as it was. And as JK said, the time zone differences between SA & NZ are too great for regular/frequent Player/Fan welfare. While it is a 12+ hour flight between SA & Europe, at least it is pretty much the same time zones so there is not the tiredness of usual Jet Lag one gets from travelling across multiple time zones. SA should stick to Europe.
The Sth Africans complained about the travel,as if they were the only teams to travel those tine zones, they left the competition because they couldn't win many. That's what people do if they keep getting beaten, they lose interest and walk away.
Well personal opinion here but I don’t give two shits if DuPont comes here and plays or a Sexton comes or someone else from NH comes and plays super. I like to go see the current All Blacks play and the future All Blacks in making trying to gain that spot. Super rugby this year has been the best season since probably 2019. We can do better next year, we just shouldn’t jump the gun

@@jlm0175yea agree about Havili - some big errors and for as hard as he plays, not sure about the lines jordie is running or his pass timing to set up others. Some big opportunities missed and SA put a target on him. Fihaki's decision making is really good.
Goldie said he was disappointed in how chiefs played then brought up the stats which clearly showed that Blues would be so much better than chiefs in every aspect of the game
Definitely reckon being able to mix Kiwis and Aussies across all teams would help with developing more uncertainty in results. The NRL’s salary cap and requirements around rep players having to have a salary floor really helps move talent around the comp. It would’ve been great if the Crusaders at their peak had to move around some talent to other clubs to even out the comp like Penrith has to in the NRL. They should be compensated in some way for their development but in terms of squads, something that helps that player movement would definitely help the comp become more interesting. And yes, the NRL does a great job with marketing and fan engagement. We really need to copy that to help this great game shine.
Have to add Shaun Stevenson is very unlucky not be in the squad too! He's a fantastic player. Scored on debut last year in the close Dunedin Test. I hope he gets another Test opportunity. Hoskins Sotutu very unlucky. Peter Lakai very unlucky. Ruben Love unlucky, he should be tried at 10. Brayden Iose and Josh Moorby have been knocking on the door too. Can't wait for Cam Roigard and Will Jordan to comeback also.
I do remember the previous show was all about the chiefs. Now that the Blues won the championship. What next guys and gal? KS can be the captain and the 3 clowns in the show can be the coaches. well done sky sports.
The Chiefs Backs didn't get a chance to use the ball as the Blues Forwards dominated the game/possession & most of the ball that the Chiefs Backs got was on the back foot. It was a tough night at the office for all of the Chiefs players & coaches. Sometimes, you hope a single bit of inspirational play e.g. a turnover, an intercept, a tackle will turn the momentum but that didn't happen for the Chiefs so the tough night for the Chiefs just continued...

It's funny how JK & Sir Kirwan lambast the way the Boks play, pushing the expansive game, whilst the blues Won the championship based on a powerful pack, with forward dominance, with one brute who smashed into everything and opened the backs to live on the crumbs. Guest on show "we need to be more fan-centric"
JK: i love that.
Also JK "I believe that people are not missing the South African trip"

Well, fans probably aren’t missing the SA game timings. I wasn’t getting up at 3am to watch SA teams without their Bok’s get pumped.
Even if you don't get up at 3am re0lays can still be watch at whatever time you want unless...the games never happen
@@joepunk90 True, but the games were rarely a decent contest with most Bok’s playing elsewhere.
@@DavidSmith-yi8ou That's fair. It didn't have the same challenge in the last few seasons before they exited.
32 with extended training group. Home series so you can bring whoever you want with minor logistically disruption.
Christie, Mils, Jeff and other guy counted the MIGHTY BLUES "out" on last weeks show. CHEHOOO! Up the MIGHTY BLUES
This show is full of Chiefs (Hillbilly region of NZ) sycophants.
From a ‘fans’ perspective…
Convenience of terminology: Are the NZ SR teams Franchises or (traditional) Clubs?
And quite ironic
The Blues won the Super Rugby championship by employing a very Northern Hemisphere style of rugby.
The Blues winning in that style makes you wonder how a team like La Rochelle would fare in Super Rugby. Their players are even bigger than the Blues! If they played in the same style, or if South African teams were still part of the competition, New Zealand teams would need to adapt quickly.
WE NEED SOUTH AFRICA BACK IN SUPER RUGBY 🏉
Who's going to pay them?
@@mthabitX And didn't the Bulls (or one of the SA teams) make it into the SR Final without having played a single NZ Team all year due the the Groups etc that they played under that year?
Great show by all. Love it, luv ya all. Blues the Champs! Hurricanes v Blues Final next year on a dry track.
Daltons nickname should be Casper because I didn't see him all night

He also goes missing like Sotutu
Thank you sir JK I’m with you 100% but we need to bring South Africa teams back too

But Auckland scored 40 points, it’s a good blend of tough forwards moving forward and talented backs capitalising on go forward
URC best championship three different winners in 4 years south africa teams made competition must better keep your super rugby we ....don't need it
The Blues wingers hunt through the middle.
We need the young guys to take over!!!! Also Flanders from the hurricanes should be a all black
Defence wins championships. Thanks Goldy. That's exactly what the Boks do.
Greatest championship was the Highlanders. With the exception of the Smiths a team of No Names.
Idk what style we are adopting, but there's a reason we have this record, and it's not only because we razzle dazzle on a chess board. But when the boys click, they click no other.
Super rugby final was borring as a neutral put it off after 20 minutes was one sided and thats not what a final should be but the urc final was good ot was close and entertaining
All rosey and glossy from the Super Rugby chair, meanwhile Rugby continues to die a slow death in Australia - helped along by a terrible Super Rugby comp
How is the Wallabies demise the fault of SR?
PROUDLY BLUES🏆🏆🏆🏆💪🏽💙
With 11 teams now in super rugby, there should be 20 games. Each team plays each other twice with 2 byes
@@DrissZyani-bu5mo I’m sure we watching a different Game🤣🤣
@@DrissZyani-bu5mo What? the Blues just won the comp and the style does work lol
(also the Boks didnt use that style in the final)
My point is it will interesting to see if International sides who have 'Big athletes' (Will Skeltons, Romaine Taofifenua, Posolo Tuilagi etc) - Adopt the same style as the Blues going forward as the Blues have dominated Super Rugby (against All Black filled teams) with it
Not one of the knockout games were close. The final 41-10 was a white wash. The Super competition needed a classic with a winning try in extra time. The final wasnt even close. I wager that game did nothing to grow super rugby.
Vern Cotter is going to make the Blues dynasty and I’m pleased the Blues won well.
Will the super rugby managers consider RSA teams that does not play in the URC competition to be included in Super rugby ?
Urggh do we really want the Cheetahs and Kings back?
@@TheLIMREPORT Nah I doubt even the Cheetahs would wanna be in your comp now, the Australians can barely keep up their end budget wise, it's a sinking ship.
No I don't think so. If you think they should then tell us why.
Shame still hurt bout Ur WC loss..can't beat the Boks in a final💩💩

@@hellsbells24 Except for the fact it's not actually a question. Friend.
Nah sexton has a new gig ( retired ) and writing his memoir. What might have been.
How’s those Warriors going?🤯
BlackAdder was a sentimental choice .
Does anyone rate Chay Fihaki? or is he leaving or something? Rate him over Love
Yes indeed, he plays like what Jordie Barrett SHOULD be playing like (Chay started out as a centre) has the best boot out of all of our fullbacks right now and has the most power.... Especially if you took stock of the baabaas game on the weekend. I'll be annoyed if havili makes it after the last couple of years he's had but am sure Chay has probably done enough to get a nod (over Love, Stevenson and Perofeta)
Doesn't matter wat we think will the selectors pick him?don't think so
Must be smoking picking him over Love
@@rubendutoit586 He's from Christchurch bro
@@jlm0175yea agree about Havili - some big errors and for as hard as he plays, not sure about the lines jordie is running or his pass timing to set up others. Some big opportunities missed and SA put a target on him. Fihaki's decision making is really good.
Goldie said he was disappointed in how chiefs played then brought up the stats which clearly showed that Blues would be so much better than chiefs in every aspect of the game
Yer like it jeff. But needs few more there at games. Hard economy rekon lot dont see that.
Congratulations Blues see you in Fiji next year Vs FijianDrua 2025!
Canes fan. But yer auckland were good all year n showed it n the final.
We just need our own players and develop depth. NRL is where it is because they concentrate on their Fans and players
We need to adopt Auckland's winning style
I do remember the previous show was all about the chiefs. Now that the Blues won the championship. What next guys and gal? KS can be the captain and the 3 clowns in the show can be the coaches. well done sky sports.
Narawa found wanting. McKenzie a huge liability at first five.
Suddenly this is the greatest championship of all time, thought Kirwan was still promoting that scuttle-butt roll back the ball checkers game called league that he loves so much?
the smugness of Kirwin is appalling.....
Why?
He’s relieved not smug.

First season that there's no Crusaders in the playoffs and we get the worst final yet.. shame. Don't blame the Blues who were just too good for the Chiefs. Guess we've been spoilt for finals of late. Congratulations Blues.
How was it worst?
Wrong, the Crusaders failed to make the playoffs in 1996, 1997, and 2001
Crusaders missed them most recently in 2015, that was a great final. But I do agree that this seasons final was one of the worst

They should stop calling it super rugby. It's not super rugby anymore it's a new tournament. You can't compare the current travel to what it used to be.
Nobody gives a toss about a light show. Seriously.
It's funny how JK & Sir Kirwan lambast the way the Boks play, pushing the expansive game, whilst the blues Won the championship based on a powerful pack, with forward dominance, with one brute who smashed into everything and opened the backs to live on the crumbs. The "modern game" is lost on these two pundits JK & SK just as it was lost by the (SA) SR teams who left behind their traditional strengths for the expansive basket ball globe trotter, thankfully, it's been corrected now. Well done Blues, wake these pundits to real Rugby, how it used to be played and then we might see stadiums filled again in NZ. People want to see authentic played Rugby not 52-47 scorline Rugby. Give us tactics, grunt up front, balanced attack and get rid of the big time waster, The TMO.
It's funny how you don't know JK is John Kirwan .. and he is an All Blacks great. He knows a great deal about the game. You don't.
