A couple of reasons. ICM lightens up a lot when the 6th player busts, so we aren't as handcuffed. Also, the big stack is going to have a good amount of raise folds, so our shove has a good amount of fold equity.
Exactly for this reason! I still haven’t walked this tournament through with a coach, but the chip lead was either opening or jamming 95%+ of range and having the blocker and stacks behind that are handcuffed I went for this spot. The KQo his range is as strong, but we don’t have any fold equity beacuse he jams.
cause the guy next to him has 3.5BB after paying the SB in the next hand? That's a $1800 pay jump right there, I wouldn't even call with AQo with a 30BI difference.
Very different position, A9 was a shove or fold. ICM was far different than the KQ which was always a snap fold, at 10 BB the bust far outweighs the double, but basically joint 5th(last) the A9 was a plus EV against a bullying stack, unfortunately someone woke up with the goods
icm jail throughout; really tough spots m8 haha - I could feel the pain. You'll learn a ton on review, well played though m8 great result, your getting closer to a title!
AQo way too tight given current meta, especially if its two regs. Open folding the Q9s is way too tight as well, put in the work and develop a strat for these spots whether it be splitting ranges , limping or just jamming but understand how different ICM circumstances and calling ranges interact. Even if he they have a propensity to call a bit too wide Q9s just too good. Rest was brutal, but played well for the most part. KQo is a pretty easy fold, the A9o is prob a tad too wide but how villian was splitting ranges I don't hate it and could be convinced its good for reasons you stated. Def need to put in more work on FT ICM spots, and play around with how your utility and equity are correlated in different spots, trust me will do a ton for your anxiety and stress while playing FTs.
Obviously you never know.. but i don't hate 4b jamming AQ. It looks super strong we have great blockers. Just me, but i think i'd have ripped AQ for 20 there. Watched a little more from that comment and want to add on.. I understand entirely the ICM you are considering and ladders.. but i really think you should be jamming Q9 suited from button with 10bbs.. you want to accumulate chips going into the FT not making the FT with bottom stack. I'm not saying be crazy but Q9 suited is hardly a crazy jam from the button. Also, you decide then at FT not to shove your 12bbs on button with A5 suited vs HJ open. I get it's the chip leader but you probably should be shoving there IMO. You aren't comfortably in 2nd or 3rd place in chips. You still need to be accumulating and you aren't always going to find better spots later.
Don't you want villain to have the naked Ace of clubs when you had AQ? I like calling 60-70% of the time with AQ without a club same with A of club and almost always with Q of club...... Tho A or Q same same because either way you block AK of clubs A5 A4 A3 A2 of clubs KQ......... Since Q and J of clubs are on the board his combos of clubs are limited to AK A10 K10 of clubs and A2-A5 of clubs meaning way more combos of bluffs with a single club holding or AJ AK A10 off.....
And some k9 of clubs...... I say what I said because you yourself said he's opening and 3betting way to much. So 60-70% of time calling like I said up top ^ is against tight players or regs....... Against him your hands always a call if his style is as said
See this is where I’ll never be a poker pro, my anger would get the better of me having to continuously fold and call with QJ off, knowing that it’s definitely not the right decision 🤣
Right but when he reshoved AJ there wasn't any min 3bet. There was an open and a BTN shove that is a weak Ax or broadways lot of the times. He folded AQ because of the small min 3bet
if youre folding kqo in the SB against him, why are you shoving A9o with 5 behind? anyways gg
Aye. My thoughts exactly

GG!!! great sum, to the moon, good luck on the river!!!
That guy jamming AJ s was such a bad jam hahahaha

I feel you 😂😂😂
But that’s why you learn and understand what to do in tight spots like that with icm pressure
Gg. Btw u folded AQ multiple times but called AJ shove from the same player You folded AQ to

Yeah what Fabio said :))
Played from 230 players down to ft and not a single 3b bluff pre?
Not every single hand makes it into the video, so there might have just been some of them
@horchler07 I can’t believe you didn’t know these were just highlights, you can’t be that daft seriously 🤷🤦♂️
Technically the bust out hand was
He is a nit
pog
Kq fold is scared money 😂. 100% call
