    insane game. close one! if you had held the YOP, you would have more felxibility to use both YOP cards on your next turn. instead, the rare sheep you got went unused, and got plucked from your hand. also, since you did use the YOP, it would have been better to settle on the desert wood port, knowing that your enemies would be blocking the 6 wheat, because it makes your wood more actionable. it makes the 9 wood almost as good as the 6 wheat. Well played all around!!

      Definitely agree with that, in hindsight I wish I got anything but the YOP there, but I definitely could’ve used it better

    Port your wheat for an ore, city the 11/5/6, and then road-settle on the 6 wheat. With this setup, you have 7 showing, 8 points, and only need to focus on the road. Very flexible with the 6 wheat, 9 wood, and 5/6 brick to produce roads. Probably could have won like 4 or 5 turns earlier with way less risk.

      This is the clear best play here. The key to this mistake is not focussing on the right win conditon for your setup.

      I think had I not bought the 2nd year of plenty the 2 devs would’ve paid off. But I think the city and settlement looks a lot stronger anyway, was just not wanting to make myself a bigger threat

    Thinking settle on the wood port instead of the six wheat again might have been better. If the six is blocked then the nine wood isn’t

      I came here to say this, fully agree. The extra single wheat doesn't really help. Whereas the wood port grants a ton of flexibility with the 9 so now you have a second threat if they block your 6

      Looking back I definitely agree! Wood port was much more useful. Settle on the desert FTW!

    idk why you didnt go with the 8 5 4 to start because there are a lot more wood and sheep spots to get on the second pick

      Ya know, I agree for sure, idk why I didn’t even consider it, but it ended up working out for me as the other wood/sheep spots were taken and I got the brick/sheep that I needed. But had I taken the 854 it would’ve changed the board a little bit for whoever placed 2nd, and as a result making it a better possibility for the wood/sheep to be available

    You could've road settled on the 6 wheat and citied on the same turn. Instead you wasted your wheat to buy two dev cards, one of which was a yop. You then said you could use the yop to build a settlement or city in the future, kinda funny and definitely a blunder.

      Ya know I’d say this is more complicated than saying buying those 2 devs there was definitely a blunder. Because say my 2nd dev was ANYTHING but the YOP? A 2nd knight would’ve made it easy for me take army, RB would’ve been great for expanding, VP would’ve made this game easier to win, and mono is just always good. I’d say this particular situation boils down to how useless the YOP can be in some situations. And early in this game you can see how useful YOP can potentially be (when red had YOP) 2 opposite ends of the spectrum.

    it's weird to me why you didn't connect with the 5/6/11, you would have had a guaranteed longest road after that point and you'd also make sure orange is never a threat. still, a great spot at the end!

      @@catanblunders5113 i meant at around 10:30. just port the wheat for a brick and you're done - guaranteed longest road after that p much.

      @@theReal1618 yes I see now, but still, that would’ve been 1 road not connected and still could’ve been cut off, I also couldn’t settle or expand if I placed my roads there. I liked building the roads the way I did this game and think it would’ve limited my options if I did what you mentioned. But always good to think about these things 😎
