- By the end of 2022, eggs cost an average of 60% more than the year prior, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In New York City, some reported paying up to $10 or more for a dozen eggs. Not only are eggs the latest product to suffer from high inflation, but the industry is also battling a deadly avian flu that threatens to wipe out entire flocks of birds. The impact has been felt from the farm, all the way to small business owners across the country.
