This was my main camera I used in 2019 on an 8 month trip across Asia. Such an unbelievable camera. I ended up selling it during the mist of the lockdown last year to experiment with a Leica m6 camera (the Q is like a gateway drug to all things Leica... haha). I hope to pick up a Q2 sometime in the future when the world gets "back to normal" it's the perfect camera to document everyday life/travel. Glad to see someone use there camera so much!

I just inherited one of these cameras and look forward to learning how to be fluent with it. Seems like it'll take a year of use to get to used to the depth of flexibility it has. But your testament is very validating to this gem of a camera.

Good to see how durable these epic camera's are - a good advert for Leica and their renowned build quality.
I am tempted by one of these, but my credit card just wont stretch that far at the moment. A small thing to do with buying a campervan and an M1 macbook to replace my 8 year old macbook that failed.

Thanks, Fred! I'm planning to do a video sharing more sample pics. Here's one that I love, taken of a place that I loved to visit (Bouchon Bistro in Beverly Hills) which is unfortunately now closed: www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/on-the-outdoor-patio-of-bar-bouchon-part-of-the-bouchon-news-photo/544528782?adppopup=true
I'm also really proud of some of my work documenting the early days of the pandemic. This one captures the visual concept well, I think, and the Q's bokeh (at F1.7) means that you can't distinguish which restaurant this is. In that way, it can be used to generally depict the concept of a "closed restaurant" (and has been a lot) www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/chairs-are-wrapped-in-caution-tape-at-a-restuarant-in-news-photo/1212992726?adppopup=true
And I'm proud of the self portrait in this article, which captured a specific, challenging moment in time for my own work: thebolditalic.com/the-eerie-job-of-photographing-san-franciscos-empty-streets-5f4fc58041ca

I purchased the Leica Q-P used but in mint condition last summer. It is the most fun I’ve had while using a camera. I bring it along with me everywhere now.
Good to see that thumbs up grip gets brassy with age. Mine is only starting to reveal that beautiful look.

Great video. Only thing I take issue with is the lens cap. Everyone I know who has a Q or Q2 has problems with this constantly falling off! There are a lot of third party lens caps for this as the one that comes with the camera is so bad. (Alternatively, I just use the lens hood and a UV filter for lens protection. Never use a cap at all after all the frustrations with the one that comes with the camera)

For me the continuous mode isn't working at all when I shooting a wedding. So many shots are slightly out of focus even if I use a high shutter speed, this doesn't happen in the S setting. There is absolutely no info about durability of the camera, where it's been, what it's gone thru during the 4 years of use. It's all about basic Q spec, functionality, and menu that you can find anywhere else, and no, not even a few samples of the 500k+ photos.

Crikey, for someone that makes so many random YT review videos, I'm really amazed how you have time to fit in your professional photo-journalism and make 500,000 images in 4 years! Well done, lucky you shoot Leica!! How do you charge your batteries? My Q batteries take forever to charge, and I'm lucky if I get a couple hundred from each charge. On the days you shoot 5000 images, that must be quite challenging.

There is simply not enough time to do 5,000 shots a day with a Leica Q - I don't buy that, I want to believe it , but it is virtually impossible unless being forced under extreme conditions - - - > = 15 shots per minute for 6 hours straight, no time to eat a meal or have a drink, do post production, make appointments, reviewing the material, relay the results to your customers who hire you, sleep and interact socially IRL or via the internet..... Considering you take time to prepare a shoot, and each shot actually, unless you are on burst a (sports?) lot, there is just no way in freakin h-e-l-l-o to pull off that number.

Mirrorless revolution started with M43 with Panasonic the GF1 in 2009. If you're talking fixed lens full-frame point and shoot then maybe. Also "Leica makes the best lens in the world" is all subjective. There are lenses that are way sharper, less distortion etc. Just say you prefer the "Leica look". Even though the lens is labeled as a Summilux, it's closer to a Summicron if you round up. 😉

I think the best lens in the world that he mentioned is regarding the "Leica Look". That creamy out of focus "roundness" background that is hard to see in other brands. Im not really a Leica user. But, I have shot with Leicas (borrowed from a colleague) and I can tell you - there is something about the bokeh and the "look" of the image that I dont get from my usual Nikon or Sony. Don't know about others but sharpness is not be all and end all for me. Even Sigma lenses can shoot sharp images. Instead, I always searching for that kind of "look" in images when shooting with particular brand.

Here's an example of a photo I took on my Leica Q in the NY Times: www.nytimes.com/2019/08/01/technology/doordash-cavier-deal.html
Tell me what news sources you read, and I'll post links to my Leica Q photos published there :)

Not to be a nitpicker, but I have to nitpick here. The Q is not a mirrorless camera in the accepted sense. "Mirrorless" usually refers to an interchangeable lens camera that does not use a mirror and prism mechanism like a DSLR. Your usage of the term implies that a smartphone is a mirrorless camera, simply because it doesn't use a mirror. The Q, like the Fuji X100 and Ricoh GR, is a large sensor fixed-lens camera.
