Note that it's left ambiguous whether or not Frisk actually survived the blast. We just see them lying on the ground, with their knife having fallen out of their hand. Depending on your perspective, NEO could have *actually* killed Frisk. Doing so would mean that Frisk probably had to reload their save . . . only to end up fighting him again. And being hit by the self-destruct sequence once again. If you could believe that Frisk died, NEO did what Sans failed. He actually managed to trap Frisk into an endless loop of reloads, unable to actually survive the fight no matter what they do. And he doesn't even know he did it.
Lunamoon Stars Well a good theorie says that sans has absorbed the human soul (which can explain the blue and yellow eye and the "blood") and because of that he started the fight (which can explain why the music is megalovania and not song that might play when you fight sans)
I'm in honestly love with this!!! The lyrics , voice , the dialogue ...! This is amazing . When the chorus sang MTT-NEO part , I was feeling there was Alphys together with the children and survivors cheering Mettaton behind the screen . It was just wow ! And the art: it was marvelous! I loved to watch it! The soft shade and this awesome neon light was such an marvelous combination of the artists
@Chara That's because Mettaton is roboticized. When an organic/magical lifeform is transformed into a robot, it's called robotization. Mettaton was built by roboticizing a ghost. How to roboticize a ghost? Make a ghost become corporeal inside a robot. Since Determination can't melt metal, Mettaton became the only monster able to handle DT without being killed. Not even Undyne can resist too much, and we all know that she's more determined than most monsters (she's definitely more determined than everyone else in the Royal Guard). And if you wonder why Undyne's armor melt with her, I believe the armor isn't actually made of metal. The armor is actually made of magic. Evidence is Undyne's transformation on Genocide, as the armor transforms with her.
I just realized, Mettaton has frisk in an infinite loop! Frisk will never get past him! Every single battle ends with him exploding and frisk dying. When frisk resets and they battle again, Mettaton will explode again, killing both. Then frisk will reset, and they fight again, resulting in both dying.
I'd imagine it more as a 'unavoidable' 40 or so dmg kind of deal. So one would survive with enough hp. Infact, it's like that in the fanmade battle too.
Interesting how many different endings the series has, one metaton destroyed frisk, another alphys stops frisk and saves the monsters, and them there's the one where frisk wins

Well blow me down, I was just thinking how awesome the original Power of Neo was, and how I'd love to see an extended version and BOOM! There it was! Magical! NEO is such a oft-ignored part, admittedly because it's a wonderfully dark joke/anti-climax, but hearing full versions and seeing a proper battle for him is great every single time. Even just hearing the opening lines was great, even down to the nod of how surprised the 'player' would be at realizing that YES, he is legitimately fighting back this time. Quizzerd was fucking awesome as Mettaton, funny yet legitimately badass as well, you can just feel the anger radiating even in his more cheerful moments. And that shot of Asgore, Sans and Alphys watching was wonderful! The amounts of heroism in lyrics, tune, vocals and art were amazing, a second hero of justice standing up for the Underground! Great stuff!
This is just... mind blowing. I'm going to assume this does not take place in the musical, and that is fine because of how clever this song is. Mettaton kept saying how you both were going die (also props to everyone in the vid), but of course you have the power to reset so that wasn't possible. You could not died... until the explosion. I love how you made that part realistic. That explosion should have killed in the game, but because game magic, you don't. In here, you do. And the best part is, you actually can't get past mettaton. Every time you kill him, you get blown up in the mess of it as well. This is an amazing song. You all are wonderful, and keep up the good work!

Agent Tex I'll be honest, Mettaton used to be one of my least favorites because my first time seeing Undertale, which was a play through by a UA-camr, I skipped the video of hotland, and then found fan fiction and judged him by that. That was a mistake because most fan fiction butcher his character. They make him seem as a 2d character that is really, really vain. Like, so vain it hurts to read. Now that I actually got the game and played through hotland, I found out he is so, so much more and is now in my top ten. I love his Neo form, and love all the different ways he is executed in the genocide route

OH MY JESUS CHRIST! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG! AAAA! Ok. When we've got that out of the way, I want to talk about the awesomeness of this song. So, first of all, Mettaton NEO is an under-rated character (at least I think so) and "Power of NEO" is a really short song and I've only seen a couple of lyrics for it. But this... This song can go hand in hand with legendary MOTI version. And the remix is OH MY GOD!(that's a new adjective btw). I love Vetrom's remix and only remix I love more is "Savior of Humanity". Then, voice acting. When I first heard this, I couldn't recognize Mettaton's voice actor. I remember Quizzerd as Steel of LemonLight, but it's like you just punched me in the face and shouted: NOOOO! QUIZ IS A BEAST AND HIS VOICE CAN GO FROM THE "Oh yeees" smooth TO "Papyrus" range. And that's what I love about "Welcome Darling" Quiz. Then, let's talk about lyrics. Joshman's lyrics just amaze me. "Alphys Takes Action" touched the deepest parts of my soul, "Empty House" was as haunting as fu... heck.(don't want my comment to get demonitized. who knows, maybe it's possible.) "Heartbreak" is soul-crushing. And this is just heroic. And I also love the word collide, don't know why. Joshman, I love your lyrics, and I'm sure everyone else does. man, i love that voice actor! incredibly well written lyrics too! the singer absolutely brings the emotion, i think it would be even better if they could bring more _force_ behind their words, especially in the first half of the song. my favorite part of this song is just the voice actor _talking,_ it's such a _perfect_ voice for Mettaton even if the singing isn't as powerful as it could be. the music behind the voice is pretty great as well, although it's kind of low-energy throughout the whole song, and the vocals lose impact as a result. the chorus sounds amazing also! it really gives this version of the song its own unique feeling. that said this song is really well put together!!!! i will probably be listening to it many times
To be honest, it's so nice to hear creative and constructive criticism instead of just mindless performance-bashing. I would actually urge you to try a little exercise, if you're still invested in the song and the fandom now even a year+ later - try to sing the first four blocks of two line phrases. And then place your breathing naturally. It's a very hectic and technically challenging song with a breakneck pace and little time to catch your breath. And looking back on a 3 year old song is always tricky business but in the end, it's valuable critique that you've provided.
@@samparsons9550 Re-listening to it (a year later) i think that yeah, that's probably the main issue, a lack of time to breathe inbetween lyrics. If i were making it i would probably not try so hard to match _every single note_ to a syllable, but just have words that complement the song. For a very direct comparison, i think the "Power of NEO" cover by man on the internet actually does a fairly good job at it (except the "child of man" part, that still feels rushed) alternatively, maybe the lack of breathing time could've been mitigated by recording every line seperately or something, but i dunno how that would sound.
If I'm being real, the voice sounds a little too high (especially compared to final stand) , and it sounds a bit too distant. I like the voice apart from those issues, and I love the lyrics. There, if I'm giving criticism, it's gonna be constructive.
I like to compare covers so... here is my stand about Power of NEO LemonLight vs MOTI I like how these two covers are the same song but with diffrent meaning, LemonLight version at least for me shows mettaton's ego, while MOTI version shows more of Mettaton's heroism, of course they both show both of these in some way. I love the backing lyrics in both version, here being "M-E-T-T-A-T-O-N NEO!" and MOTI being "We love you Mettaton", "Come on now Mettaton" and "Exploding Mettaton" and they show opposite of what I said before, LemonLight being heroism and MOTI being Ego. Last thing for now is the "Losing Hope and death moment". MOTI switched from "Courtains rise, salvation I bring" goes to "Courtains fall, salvation I bring" and Mettaton's voice begins to get shaky towards the end, and here it is simply from "The fate of our world" to "The fate of your world" and I don't see any voice shaking or anything like that. About death, they both end in good ways, MOTI does follow how it happens in the game, but on the other side the self destruct was an amazing plot twist. Overall I prefer the MOTI version, but this isn't very far behind

MTT NEO can die, as seen in Undertale. He self destructs at the end killing himself and Frisk. Frisk resets, but can't do anything to stop the self destruct sequence. Therefor nobody ever wins however Frisk can't continue their genocide.

I just realized. If Mettaton has Alphys' extracted Determination in his circuits like is implied, an explosion could be enough to stop the human for good. We don't know 100% how determination works, but I think it's safe to assume that Mettaton's determination extract can Rival the humans, so how far a stretch from there is it to say true determination is all that can kill more determination. An explosion radiating that kind of energy could render the Humans energy weakened, if not killing them instantly then taking their power to change fate so when they reach Sans it's one and done. If that's all you were curious about, it's done here. Past this is a tangent on the side effects --- There is a problem though. If the explosion could radiate determination, it could leave the equivalent to nuclear fallout in the core, if not all of Hotland. This would make their only major source of energy unaccessible, and they would lose power. With such dwindling numbers of monsters, this single fact could kill all monster kind anyway. IDK, tell me your thoughts

I'll be honest, Mettaton used to be one of my least favorites because my first time seeing Undertale, which was a play through by a UA-camr, I skipped the video of hotland, and then found fan fiction and judged him by that. That was a mistake because most fan fiction butcher his character. They make him seem as a 2d character that is really, really vain. Like, so vain it hurts to read. Now that I actually got the game and played through hotland, I found out he is so, so much more and is now in my top ten. I love his Neo form, and love all the different ways he is executed in the genocide route

OH MY JESUS CHRIST! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG! AAAA! Ok. When we've got that out of the way, I want to talk about the awesomeness of this song. So, first of all, Mettaton NEO is an under-rated character (at least I think so) and "Power of NEO" is a really short song and I've only seen a couple of lyrics for it. But this... This song can go hand in hand with legendary MOTI version. And the remix is OH MY GOD!(that's a new adjective btw). I love Vetrom's remix and only remix I love more is "Savior of Humanity". Then, voice acting. When I first heard this, I couldn't recognize Mettaton's voice actor. I remember Quizzerd as Steel of LemonLight, but it's like you just punched me in the face and shouted: NOOOO! QUIZ IS A BEAST AND HIS VOICE CAN GO FROM THE "Oh yeees" smooth TO "Papyrus" range. And that's what I love about "Welcome Darling" Quiz.
Then, let's talk about lyrics. Joshman's lyrics just amaze me. "Alphys Takes Action" touched the deepest parts of my soul, "Empty House" was as haunting as fu... heck.(don't want my comment to get demonitized. who knows, maybe it's possible.) "Heartbreak" is soul-crushing. And this is just heroic. And I also love the word collide, don't know why. Joshman, I love your lyrics, and I'm sure everyone else does. So, for everyone's sake, keep up the amazing work!
Now, in the end, I want to say something to the artists/artist: OMG HAVE MY BABIES...*intentional loud cough* I mean, oh my God, it's so amazing! (and, forget that from earlier. the babies are mine!)

man, i love that voice actor! incredibly well written lyrics too! the singer absolutely brings the emotion, i think it would be even better if they could bring more _force_ behind their words, especially in the first half of the song. my favorite part of this song is just the voice actor _talking,_ it's such a _perfect_ voice for Mettaton even if the singing isn't as powerful as it could be.
the music behind the voice is pretty great as well, although it's kind of low-energy throughout the whole song, and the vocals lose impact as a result.
the chorus sounds amazing also! it really gives this version of the song its own unique feeling.
that said this song is really well put together!!!! i will probably be listening to it many times
To be honest, it's so nice to hear creative and constructive criticism instead of just mindless performance-bashing. I would actually urge you to try a little exercise, if you're still invested in the song and the fandom now even a year+ later - try to sing the first four blocks of two line phrases. And then place your breathing naturally.
It's a very hectic and technically challenging song with a breakneck pace and little time to catch your breath. And looking back on a 3 year old song is always tricky business but in the end, it's valuable critique that you've provided.

If i were making it i would probably not try so hard to match _every single note_ to a syllable, but just have words that complement the song. For a very direct comparison, i think the "Power of NEO" cover by man on the internet actually does a fairly good job at it (except the "child of man" part, that still feels rushed)
alternatively, maybe the lack of breathing time could've been mitigated by recording every line seperately or something, but i dunno how that would sound.

I like to compare covers so... here is my stand about Power of NEO
LemonLight vs MOTI
I like how these two covers are the same song but with diffrent meaning, LemonLight version at least for me shows mettaton's ego, while MOTI version shows more of Mettaton's heroism, of course they both show both of these in some way.
I love the backing lyrics in both version, here being "M-E-T-T-A-T-O-N NEO!" and MOTI being "We love you Mettaton", "Come on now Mettaton" and "Exploding Mettaton" and they show opposite of what I said before, LemonLight being heroism and MOTI being Ego.
Last thing for now is the "Losing Hope and death moment". MOTI switched from "Courtains rise, salvation I bring" goes to "Courtains fall, salvation I bring" and Mettaton's voice begins to get shaky towards the end, and here it is simply from "The fate of our world" to "The fate of your world" and I don't see any voice shaking or anything like that.
About death, they both end in good ways, MOTI does follow how it happens in the game, but on the other side the self destruct was an amazing plot twist.
Overall I prefer the MOTI version, but this isn't very far behind

I like the fandoms version of mettaton Neo too, but I kinda disagree with the whole thing that the fandom did it better then Toby I’m sure if he did design a battle it would probably be similar to what the fandom imagines, but the fact is that genocide isn’t supposed to be rewarding this is why only undyne really put up a fight she was strong and the human was still pretty weak the mettaton neo fight was suppose to show that you’ve truly become a monster and killed someone in one shot who was actually prepared to fight unlike toriel, papyrus, muffet, and Asgore since toriel believed you were weak and couldn’t fight, papyrus just wanted to show you mercy and become your friend, muffet didn’t really take her fight seriously and Asgore kept his guard down the entire time

When I woke up on a Sunday morning the least thing I expected is to see a power of neo ( full version ) from lemonlight production. This is by far better then man on the internet version. MTT NEO can die, as seen in Undertale. He self destructs at the end killing himself and Frisk. Frisk resets, but can't do anything to stop the self destruct sequence. Therefor nobody ever wins however Frisk can't continue their genocide.

I just realized. If Mettaton has Alphys' extracted Determination in his circuits like is implied, an explosion could be enough to stop the human for good.
We don't know 100% how determination works, but I think it's safe to assume that Mettaton's determination extract can Rival the humans, so how far a stretch from there is it to say true determination is all that can kill more determination. An explosion radiating that kind of energy could render the Humans energy weakened, if not killing them instantly then taking their power to change fate so when they reach Sans it's one and done.

There is a problem though. If the explosion could radiate determination, it could leave the equivalent to nuclear fallout in the core, if not all of Hotland. This would make their only major source of energy unaccessible, and they would lose power. With such dwindling numbers of monsters, this single fact could kill all monster kind anyway.
