Summer time is coming to an end and I'm now moving into a house near school! So sorry for the bunches of reactions that are coming in late, but I have no internet at home and life of moving into an unfurnished/dirty place is vErY hEctIC so basically here are the reactions that have been filmed and have yet to be edited&posted:

To me 'Hi High' sounds like an sports anime opening, I'm totally digging it!

The top note that Chuu belts is a G5 which is the TOP TOP TOP of a soprano belt in pop music (rarely will you see someone go above an F5-F#5 when belting)
sohysng can belt up to a c#6 and ariana a bb5... i mean yeah its rare but many do
@@danielpeyrou Yep, you're absolutely right, people can go higher. They don't usually do it on a full belt, but it is possible. Sohyang lives in that upper register. It's just not done all the time by everyone, hence it being rare.

i'll wait till their music core performance where the back track is lowered so we can hear their vocals much better
Nah, it's not hate cause it's true (and isn't really a negative, playback is extremely commonplace with these performances.) Chuu's high note especially, you can tell from her body/face that she's not stressing at all when the high note comes which she would have to in order to hit it with as much power as the audio. I have zero doubt that she can and will hit it perfectly when it's not playback, but in that particular performance, it's very obviously playback.
playback is common in all entertainment industries including in the west especially with choreo.
tbh listening to it back, some members sounded live (Heejin and Kim Lip mostly) while others didn't so much. It's for sure playback, but doesn't mean they weren't singing it live too. Chuu's especially wasn't completely live, "stressing it" isn't a bad thing or a fault, it's necessary for the power and range she hits it and her body language doesn't match. Not really about her voice reaching that note, but rather the attack. Again, though, not a negative and isn't a criticism. I don't doubt she can hit it, she just didn't do it in that performance and there could be many reasons why, but it's not really serious. I'm eager to hear a fully live version.
This song is really catchy and energetic! What I found interesting is that the last time they did the "hi hi hi hi" part, they came in on beat 3, or in other words they used a 2/4 measure instead of the full 4/4. That threw me for a loop.
Btw to clarify, the way I'm counting, each "hi" is a half note.
Kent The rhythm change really bugged me, I'm never going to get used to that part :(
Tri Bui The way I see it, it was just getting a little bit repetitive with the lyrics, but that change came at the right time to stir things up and keep it interesting.
@@kent4302 u got a point there. The skipped beat really threw me off when I'm counting the beats/notes. And with u saying the last reff it's 2/4, for me it's the skipped beats and fast paces that makes it easier to count it as 2/4. So for me it's 2/4 when it's skipped then 4/4 for the rest of the reff.
Anyway, Loona's really (I think) would become a great contender in GG. What makes me amazed is for some reason I got the feel of WJSN in this MV, and I can't find the reason why..

they have hint that this debut song is mashup all girl front+ love4eva& love&live to make a "3 dimensional" song so the element of 3 songs you can feel it in this song and make it to a whole new dimension

Yooo watching Kevin saying all those "kpop related words" makes me happy for some reason... Ma boy seems to be getting deep into this universe. I love the fact that even though he knows a lot about music he doesn't just criticize every single aspect of the song on a extremely objective and souless way. Like he said in a recent live stream (LOONA Solo Songs) "Sometimes a good 1 (chord/tonic) is all you need" (Apparently meaning that complexity is not the answer for everything which also resemble his views on Jeon Soyeon's "Idle Song") . To Kevin: Man I wish you also create some kpop related content by yourself in the future.
It's not a super fantastic song in isolation, but in the context of the group, the MV, how it's an amalgamation of everything, a celebration of where they have reached, it's perfect.
Also, it sounded like love4eva because both sound like Gee, which isn't a complaint!
This is the first time I have ever seen Kevin being a fanboy than a musician, that was new to me but I love it, Kenvin is so accurate lol

Definitely Hi High feels like Love&Live, Girl Front, and Love4eva brought all together! The bridge really reminds me of Love&Live because of its pace, and then synths and the intro remind me of Girl Front. Then, the whole speed of the song, lyrics, and dance was like Love4eva!

Kevin is such a fan =)))) I dont like the song at first listening but totally got hooked after the 2nd listen, somehow admire you guys for having fair opinions about every songs even though upon first time hearing them, maybe due to your musical knowledge. Totally agree with Kevin when he talked about the chorus, I like the verses better than the chorus as well. Lovely video btw.

I have a feeling Hi High is the same composer as love4eva bc of the speaking intro as well as the added beat later on and with that being said also reminds me of Gee once again 😉 but idk LOL
As far as I know, It's monotree (i think gee has different producer). And maybe you are hearing gee in first part of the song, bc to tribute for yyxy love4eva. . . Bc this song is the mix of all subunit song. However, I never hear Gee or Very very very vibes in here.
For me FavOrite grew on me, but Hi High was an instant fav.

Umu, you said you like the 1/3 stuff the most from Loona. In that case I highly recommend you go and listen to Lovelyz's entire discography. They're one of the most harmonically adventurous girl groups.
That's because LOOΠΔ's CEO/Music Producer/Lyricist used to be in charge of Lovelyz when he was still in Woolim but left because they rejected the "Girl of the Month" project because of the high budget requirement to make LOOΠΔ (he had 40 albums prepared for it pre-debut - debut ready)

@@ohar-el6808 Interesting, I looked it up, and he seems to be A&R and creative director. He doesn't actually compose/arrange/produce music as far as I can tell.
The actual composers have been making similar music for a long time. Hwanghyun from MonoTree (composer/producer of Love & Live, Kiss Later, Valentine Girl, frozen, Hi High) also did older songs like Aside by SHINee, Is it OK? by f(x), and Snowy Wish by SNSD.

imo hi high was an amazing debut. i think we were all confused as to what theyd sound like as a group and while, yes, this does lean more towards yyxy's stuff, i think this is a great combination of all 3 subunits while still being distinctly loona. the girls have yet to fail to impress! orbits, fighting! lets get hi high to 20m before xx!

Those aren't actually 32nd notes that the synths are doing those are just 16th notes within 193 bpm making it seem a lot faster than you would expect

Olivia was lost in the OEC world. OEC found her and teleported her back to Eden (that's why she's at the top of the platform) but they knew Yves was gonna be there. So Yves convinced Olivia to finally reject Eden (that's why she jumped) and the moon was finally completed
Has anyone pointed out that at the start of the second verse, the OEC girls are confronting Olivia Hye in the heart attack spotlight where Chuu falls asleep in?
