Problem was he's not versatile like Boston who played with alot more humility, Russell played only one way which surprised no one and it was his undoing. If he'd used a different tactic and been nice, polite and exercised a little patience then he woulda stuck around alot longer and coulda lasted till the end but pride became his downfall as he became too full himself. Redemption Island was worse than South Pacific. The only good player was Rob. He completely controlled the game by Day 1. Phillip was annoying and he was the key reason why I almost stopped watching his season. With South Pacific: Coach, Ozzy, Cochran, and Sophie were the best players.
The Russell clip was taken out of context. He wasn’t just crying because he lost. He played 3 times in 4 seasons and it ended up costing him his marriage and relationship with his kids, and wanted to use this season to play a different game and fix that and he didn’t get the chance because “He’s Russell”. They could’ve used him to have a better shot and beating Rob and his tribe and they chose to get rid of him.
Russel wasn’t crying cause he was out he was crying because before that, that wasn’t shown to viewers that he was going to bring both his kids out and apologize to them on swearing to his kids he posted it on his UA-cam channel

More than enough time to adopt a new approach to the game, and more than enough time to figure out precisely why his strategy backfired on him. He needed to work on his attitude, his personality, and most of all, his personal hygiene. The one and only way to prevent the scenario you're complaining about was for Russell to move all the way out of his comfort zone and play the right-hand man of whichever core alliance came up first (in other words, be their Natalie White). Instead, he ran the exact same tired old play in the exact same tired old way and ended up the first one out of the tribe. So really, it's not a question of a jury being dumb but a question of a third-time player, who no longer had the cloak of anonymity protecting him in the landmark season, being dumb.
If he had admitted at FTC his whole spiel was an act apparently he was winning 5-4 over Rob with the votes of: Grant- hated Rob for voting him out and never talked to him again. Ralph Matt- admits he was bitter at Rob and didnt want to vote him. Admitted in his jury speech video he was disregarding Natalie but Phillip could get his vote with the right speech. Mike- he said after he would have voted Phillip if he delivered at FTC. Julie, Steve, Ashley, David would still have voted for Rob. This just proves btw Rob had no prayer against anyone but Phillip and his personal fuckwhore Natalie. The fact even Phillip would have beaten him 5-4 had he not bombed FTC, means everyone else is a lock over Rob.
It's funny that the biggest cry baby was shown right after a confessional of Rob crying about Amber. I feel like overall in all their seasons Russell and Rob both deserve runner up in that award (after Sugar of course). I also remember Russell crying at the Samoa reunion after he lost and Rob getting crybabyitus when he was dehydrated in heroes vs villains.
Russell's not a crybaby. It must be hard to be the best player twice and win neither of them and than come back for the 3rd time and get voted off right away
