    Vorn is a traditional Mangalorean dessert made from split green gram (moong dal), coconut milk & jaggery. This is a vegan recipe. Vorn tastes best when served hot or chilled. Hope you enjoy it.
    Ingredients:
    200 gm moong dal ( 1 cup)
    3/4 cup Jaggery -depend on sweet
    1 tbsp of Rice flour
    200 ml coconut milk [Thick - 1st extract coconut milk
    200 ml coconut milk [Thin - 2nd extract coconut milk
    200 ml plain water or 3rd extract coconut milk
    1/4 tsp cardamom
    Salt to taste
    1/4 cup each roasted cashews and raisins
    Method:
    Wash 1 cup moong dal ( 200 gms) 2-3 times.
    Add 2 cups of water. Pressure cook for 1 whistle
    Take a pan add 2 tbsp Ghee, roast cashews and raisins
    once done, remove and keep it aside
    same, pan add boiled moong dal, jaggery, salt and thin coconut milk.
    [if you are using Tetra pack, take 200 ml of coconut milk add same amount of water [[200 ml milk+200ml water]
    Let the coconut milk set first with dal on low flame, later increase the heat and stir well.
    Check for salt & sweetness. Allow the mixture to have pouring consistency.
    add 1 tbsp of rice flour diluted with 1 tbsp of water, stir well
    add thick coconut milk [200 ml of tetra pack] ,cardamom, roasted dry fruits.
    On a low heat, simmer for 2-3 minutes.
    Delicious Kheer or Vorn ready to serve.
