      Sonic? That's original! Dude, I always find this particular anecdote funny - the one when people are surprised that it's soft - because my hair isn't soft - it feels like a scouring brush (steel wool). Once, on my CELTA (teacher training) course, one of the instructors said 'I wonder if your hair's cottony or wiry' and then he stuck his hand in it and said 'wiry'. I was flabbergasted but also weirdly impressed at his arguably offensive (yet accurate) descriptors. :/

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  3 роки тому +1

      Haha! Great question - so ideally, you'll have a friend you can speak to regularly who will help you understand things better. That's the best-case scenario if talking through things is how you learn. The person should be non-judgemental and friendly.
      As an alternative, you can process your thoughts/leanings by talking to yourself or journalling.
      As for actually sharing the info with others - as I mentioned, I'm an English teacher - and one of the techniques I was trained to teach students is called framing. It's essentially building structures that you can plop your thoughts into. It's useful for when students have oral exams. So if they're asked 'what do you think about the impact of X on Y?', depending on the length of time to answer, they can build something like: statement/ anecdote/observation related to the question --> opinion --> 'There are two main reasons for this' --> 'firstly: ..." ---> 'secondly...' --> summary.
      For example, if you asked me how I feel about identity given that I've lived in lots of different places, I might say (if I can actually pluck out the answer in the time and I'm not dying of crippling anxiety - this response is simplified). 'People tend to associate their sense of self with where they come from. Personally, I do not identify in this way. There are two main reasons for this. Firstly, I left my 'home' country when I was 12 so I had to adjust to an entirely different culture at the start of my adolescence. And secondly, I've always connected with people on the basis of authenticity, kindness and similar interests, as opposed to nationality. Essentially, for me, identity does not need to be tied in to national origin.'
      I hope this helps! x

    • @sweetandsimple.
      @sweetandsimple. 3 роки тому

      @@NaturallyHigh talking to myself and writing are the only times my thoughts are perfectly articulated. But I think I get anxiety when I speak to others cause 1) I feel like I’m on a race against their eventual boredom of my voice and 2) I’m so focused on saying all the right words to prevent people from wrong assumptions of what I say and really mean. I often feel misunderstood. The struggle!! Thank you so much for detailed response! I’ll definitely use that tip of framing. Now to find someone nonjudgmental to practice with 🥴

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  3 роки тому

      @@sweetandsimple. OMG what you describe Is soooooo painfully familiar. What's your MBTI type? Both of the phenomena are my exact experience, especially since I tend to be thinking through speech and I don't want to confuse people or give them the wrong impression by doing that aloud but then in not doing it, it feels as though my thoughts are hindered. As a child, I did it too but I just didn't care what people though. I think now, knowing that other people are perfectly capable of forming fully-fledged thoughts in their heads before saying them, I feel like a pleb VERY OFTEN.
      There are all sorts of 'frames' you can use. There's a website called No Freakin' Speaking (google it) that features some more that might be useful but you can also come up with your own when you're calm.
      One of my friends thinks I might be autistic... It was so random but when I mentioned this 'framing' thing they said it's probably my way of 'masking'. I disagree because I don't really identify with the other traits of autism.
      Is this anxiety a new phenomenon? Can you pinpoint when it started?

    I would assume that you can easily be annoyed by people that operate differently than you expect or come to different conclusions given the same information. I'm assuming the "why" question pops into your head a lot when people do things different from you expectation. Very enjoyable video

    • @NaturallyHigh
      @NaturallyHigh  3 роки тому

      Interesting assumption... I wouldn't say so - I tend to be accepting of other ways of doing things and other viewpoint - my concern comes in when things start to verge on inflicting suffering. I definitely do ask 'why' a lot! Do you? I'm glad you enjoyed it! Share it - it seems as though fewer people have seen it than usually would by now.

      @@NaturallyHigh I will share the video. You are a most animated introvert. As I have gotten older, "why" has become less important because the answer is often elusive or unattainable

      @NaturallyHigh  3 роки тому

      @@darinjones4303 yay! Thanks! I'm definitely not an introvert. I hear you about 'why' - whether there's a solid answer depends on whether the decision was made analytically or intuitively; in either case there's so much room for confabulation.

      @@NaturallyHigh It has been a long time indeed! I had no ideas they were lots of affinities between INFJs and ENFPs as you pointed in other comments. Have you ever gotten another type before? I took the test 3 times. I got INFJ the 1st and 3rd and INFP the 2nd.

      Yes but you can recreate an immersive experience through frequent interaction with speakers of and material (films/podcasts/books/magazines) in the language.
