    Besides the clover you have bent grass in your yard. I have similar grass problems lighter areas or brown looking areas. Go look at the grass, instead of straight one single blades of grass they look like little tree grass shapes, this is bent grass. It I think is called bent grass as if you don’t water like every day or so you’ll find it laid over matted down and brown. It is fine for golf course putting greens, but in your yard it is considered invasive. The turf guys will put Roundup on it. Then reseed after they have killed it all. I am trying to pull it out by thatching. I hand raked my hole yard with a garden rake many hours and a lot of work.. Going to try the machine you demonstrated here. Then I am going to over-seed those areas with a Fescue and Kentucky Blue grass. Thanks for the video. Looks like the machine might do what I need on the Bent grass areas. Don’t want to throw the cancer causing Roundup in my yard.

    Great video! Can you attach a bag to the power rake to make clean up easier?

    • @onesimpledad
      @onesimpledad  6 місяців тому

      They make a bag assemble for TR-20. So the bag frame is $555 and the bag is $153 but the bag has been discontinued. Might be able to find a used one on ebay

    The economy is really bad if a guy with Porsche can't afford landscaping companies to take care of his lawn . The video was good 👍 .

    How much does it weigh? Did you lift into the SUV on your own?

    • @onesimpledad
      @onesimpledad  3 дні тому

      @BombsAway2012 it weighs 135 lbs. I lifted it by myself to get it out of the SUV, but I had my wife help me lift it to put it in the SUV. I'm pretty sure I could have lifted it by myself, but I was worried i would scratch the Porsche.

    Hello and beautiful lawn. What grass type do you have and what height do you mow?

      I use the Scott's sun and shade mix.

    They say dethatching is necessary. It breaks the crown and allows weeds to sprout. You should do core aerating instead.

    • @onesimpledad
      @onesimpledad  4 місяці тому

      Thanks for the tip... I keep trying different methods to see what works best for my lawn. I've been core aerating in the fall when i put grass seed down and dethatching in the spring, and both seem to help. I've been happy with the results. Well, thanks for watching

    • @devonwatt2194

      Not instead of, in conjunction with.
      Aeration is not a replacement for dethatching

    I have a lot of grass and want to rent this as well, can you pick up the thatch with your mower or is blowing and raking into piles the best way? Also how long after putting down weed and feed would you put grass seed? I also have a plan to rent an overseeder but I want to dethatch first.

    • @onesimpledad
      @onesimpledad  6 місяців тому

      Yes, you could use a lawn mower to pick up the thatch. Blower is the easiest. If you put grass seed down then don't put weed and feed down. Otherwise you have to wait 2 months after putting weed and feed down before putting any seed down.
      Best to seed in the fall and weed and feed in the spring

    What are your thoughts on power raking the lawn 2 or 3 times???

    • @onesimpledad
      @onesimpledad  6 місяців тому

      2 times is enough, but more can be better depending on how much moss or thatch is in lawn. Just remember to rake or blow off the lawn after you finish.

    What’s the difference between power raking or using a dethatcher

    • @apenza4304
      @apenza4304 5 місяців тому

      The power raking is more aggressive and tears up the lawn more, ua-cam.com/video/EL9d5W_ZU24/v-deo.htmlsi=CELh9JgEYhxCXryC

    • @onesimpledad
      @onesimpledad  5 місяців тому +1

      Power rakes are designed for thicker thatch and are more heavy duty and aggressively remove thatch.... a dethatcher is used for lighter layers of thatch. Well, thanks for watching

    • @onesimpledad
      @onesimpledad  6 місяців тому

    So it’s not self propelled?

    • @onesimpledad
      @onesimpledad  3 місяці тому

      @Sh0ckwaveProductions it's not, but it is.... as soon as the blades grab hold of the lawn, it starts to take off like it's self-propelled... if it has nothing to grab on to... then you are pushing it. very easy to use... easier than an aerator
