El Salvador 2022 | Surf Trip | El Zonte

- Our second surf trip from Florida to El Salvador in August 2022. This year we stayed in El Zonte instead of El Sunzal. The swell was on the smaller side with some less than ideal wind direction, but we got a few fun days. I took mostly photos this time with my big camera (OM System OM-1) so most of the surfing footage is from my DJI Mavic Air 2S... which I had never used for surfing. Also used my Insta360 Go 2 for the POV shots.
We surfed mostly at El Zonte, but caught a few waves at Sunzal, Mizata, and K59... The last day we were able to get some fun rides at Punta Roca (my fav break) before the wind shifted. I still have yet to actually see Roca at its full potential, hopefully next trip!
This is a vacation edit for my friends so I wanted to keep as much in the video as possible. and it ended up fairly long.

Nice edit! Heading to El Zonte in Nov. Did you get a surf rack for your rental car? And how was the parking situation?
My friends and I always travel with a soft board rack for the roof. Our lodging was at El Zonte so we parked inside their gate, but parking at each break is different. Sometimes you find free parking on the side streets.... sometimes you have to pay a random guy to park in what looks like free parking, sometimes its obvious there is no free parking and you'll need to find a paid lot or a place that will let you park for a fee. I'm sure it changes every year.

@@sebbeasant1868 how did we find it? Most of the popular breaks are on Google maps with pretty good access, parking may be a bit challenging sometimes. A lot of the breaks are within 1hr drive of each other on the main coastal highway. El Salvador is one of the easiest places I have been to navigate to most the surf spots. Nearly all of them have places to stay within walking distance to the breaks. If you have a car, you may have to pay some enterprising locals to park tho

So, how do you get down to the beach from the street. All I see is private stairs.
Most of the beaches have a small road or path that dead ends at the beach. You really don't have a problem accessing the beach on foot, but parking a car might require paying a few bucks to some locals or a designated pay spot. Next to that area are either cliffs or rocks with private property access as well.
