Penn State fan here. I realize mine is the perspective of a “have” but I’m with Mike: I want harder games. I’d rather have interesting matchups and lose than play UMass in week-7… like we’re doing this coming Saturday, where we’re 42.5 point favorites at the open. Boring. It’ll be harder to have an unbeaten season, but at least I’ll look forward to the games instead of having to stomach all of these lame blow outs over Pop Warner teams.
Michigan fan here, I love this. I haven't watched a full Michigan game yet this year because there hasn't really been a need to, I already know the end result. This means better games on my tv more consistently which I will never complain about

Right on. As a Penn State fan, I can’t wait to play Michigan every year, and I hate watching 2 quarters of us playing ‘Nova or Delaware, or frikin’ UConn. Also, this mentality that creampuffs should be fed to power-5 teams in the early-season is utter nonsense. Play opponents of comparable strength!
Looking at the current AP rankings, if realignment happened this year, 6 of the top 10 would be Big 10 teams. Sounds like some great football is on the horizon to me.

As a Michigan fan, it has been boring to see Michigan strength of schedule, waiting all season to see The Game or for Penn st to be decent every 4th year. I want Michigan to prove they’re good and have those tests along the way

I don’t think any Michigan fans enjoy the last two years OOC schedule at all but we also understand it wasn’t done to give Michigan an easier path to the playoffs it was done to generate lost revenue due to Covid. The narrative that we want easy schedules is just slander from haters. They know you can’t schedule p5 programs on short notice but won’t admit it. Georgia had the same issue when they were forced to cancel Oklahoma. Same problem Ohio state has next year after cancelling Washington.
@@Troy-fv9uqsucks that we finally have a fun entertaining schedule look forward to but we are losing the bulk of our production to the NFL after this year so we might get embarrassed next year unless we absolutely kill it in the transfer portal. Wish we played those teams this year!
Agreed, as a Michigan, yes, I'd rather see the team play a harder schedule with more interesting games. Honestly, I don't tune in when they're playing against softies. When they do play a big gam and they win it feels amazing and if they lose then whatever, you move on. But for the sport, the bigger games are better. Anxious to get this new schedule underway!
Michigan already has home-and-homes with Texas and Oklahoma the next 4 years. Their strength of schedule will be one of the best in the country. What concerns me is they are going to lose most of their starting players to the NFL after this season. It's a good thing they are getting the underclassmen into games to speed up their development now. It will be a real test of Harbaugh, the staff and the Wolverines culture to keep them in the top 10.
mike/rico have cried for months (constantly today) that UM "plays no one" but outside of washington, msu's schedule is pretty interchangeable w/ UM's. no surprise they haven't ever brought that up.
Yep, and next year when they can't bitch about that they'll pivot to "college football isn't fun anymore, I don't recognize this sport, this isn't the B1G, I hate the 12-team playoff, you losers can keep watching but I don't care anymore, wahhh." (Unless of course MSU somehow hits a home run with their coaching hire.)
On behalf of Michigan, don't try to defend our schedule. Our pathetic AD dropped UCLA last year and this year for additional cupcakes to cheapen our schedule and get additional home game revenue. It's ridiculous, nothing for us to hide from and the criticism is warranted flat out
For msu man they can rebuild that football program they just literally have to clean house like what the lions did when they hired Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell rebuild that culture entirely man. Make a team coach where he doesn't want or care about that spotlight but wants to put his team in the best spots to win. Mel tucker was all for the spotlight and headlines. As a michigan fan I got faith in yalls program to come back strong, just gotta make some tough choices and decisions and turn it around

I agree, I'm glad the days of needing to be 12-0 or 11-1 to get into the playoffs are coming to the end, because anything can happen on Saturday.
Also, one of Michigan's "cup cakes" next year is Fresno St; who will likely make a NY6 Bowl this year.
