It is and it's pretty funny as a Michigan fan & alum but you do need to understand that the narrative has changed. Mike didn't think Msu would be good enough to beat this Michigan team this season even when he was saying 'don't show up Michigan fans'. He was likely expecting a 4-2 Msu team to keep it close with a SLIGHT (but unlikely) chance to win at night but with tons of drunk rowdy fans in the stands with BAD BLOOD.
As a Michigan fan I surely hope the team is preparing as if MSU was undefeated and taking it seriously. MSU is another team in the way of Michigan's overall team goal and the focus needs to be take care of business week to week regardless of opponent or opponents record. Play smart, play hard, stay focused, super important to stay healthy and win the game. This game sets up like old school underdog/chip on their shoulder MSU teams that would like nothing more to ruin Michigan's national title hopes. Michigan needs to stay the course and stay focused and hungry for bigger things.

As a UM fan I've learned to never overlook MSU no matter the records, and the title odds mean nothing to me. With a weak schedule my concern is winning 1 game at a time.
As a Spartan, I still have a little bit of excitement for the game against U of M. If they stun Michigan, it will tear the heart out of that U of M team and U of M fans in a different way than it ever has before. Obviously, I don't think that will happen. But it would hurt them worse than ever. And I like wolverine tears. If U of M crushes MSU, I don't care that much. It can't be more depressing than blowing a massive lead to Rutgers or getting blown out by Washington.

UMs defense is just too good and too deep all the way around to get beat by a one dimensional offense. UM has sophomore rotational players in the two deep playing elite ball at all three levels of the defense DL, LB, DBF. In 40 some years of watching, I've never seen a UM team as equally good all the way around. The 06 defense was pretty good but this years D is entirely in line with the 97 team combined with the most versatile offense I've ever seen them field. This years UM team = the 97 team with a QB who's more than just a good game manager who can make big plays and be a game breaker.

I do think this is a really good UM team and it could win the national championship, but take it one game at a time. I think the games against PSU and OSU will really be telling. IMO Washington is better than either of those teams.

Personally, I want Michigan to drop at least 50 on Michigan State , which will be sweet redemption for the tunnel attack charges being dropped from last year.

Is it really excitement for a uofm fan? As a spartan we’re going to lose by 40 plus and the game is going to be over by halftime. I get that it’s a rivalry but when everyone knows what’s gonna happen how excited can u be?

He didn't say that, but it was absolutely the most played up thing in media history and the pearl-clutching was ridiculous coming from UM.

@clarkjansen2048 whether it's true or not, the way it got played up it was treated almost like Larry Nassar. It was an antagonized 60 second brawl. They aren't saying they did nothing wrong, but way overblown for what it was. Let's also face it too that UM doesn't exactly have a great record of accountability either, so to demand it from another school rings a little hollow.
@@putansug You could convince me it was overblown, the media will grab anything they can get their hands on if it increases clicks. The reason for my comment here was to correct a false statement made on a radio show. Members of the media who insinuate their opinion or satire is fact lose credibility in my opinion. Then others who listen who don't know the facts are misled.

I said a month ago it was going to be UM v Washington in Houston. But I believe UM defense show Washington something unlike no defense they've faced before.

@@putansug High falutin pass happy offenses are nothing new or intimidating to UM defense. Just ask Ryan Cooper. UMs defense is just too good and too deep all the way around to get beat by a one dimensional offense. UM has sophomore rotational players in the two deep playing elite ball at all three levels of the defense DL, LB, DBF.
In 40 some years of watching, I've never seen a UM team as equally good all the way around. The 06 defense was pretty good but this years D is entirely in line with the 97 team combined with the most versatile offense I've ever seen them field. This years UM team = the 97 team with a QB who's more than just a good game manager who can make big plays and be a game breaker.
@gabeswitala2292 I'm not saying that they're not, but you've not really seen an offensive talent quite like Penix yet. I do think this is a really good UM team and it could win the national championship, but take it one game at a time. I think the games against PSU and OSU will really be telling. IMO Washington is better than either of those teams.
@@putansug I predicted Washington to win the PAC and make the playoff before the season even began. And tbh I was a bit skeptical about all the Houston or bust talk surrounding UM. I really am pulling for the huskies, not because I think it would give UM any easier a chance. I just generally believe they are that good. But UM has turned out to be even better than I thought they would be. UM is starting to accomplish thing that haven't happened nationally since the 30s and things within the program that haven't been duplicated since Fielding Yost was HC. I like Pinnex Jr but given the depth this UM team has I'd take them over any team in CFB today.
As a Michigan fan, I'd be amped if Sparty was ranked and this game meant something. I don't want to pummel Sparty when they're down. For the sake of this rivalry, you want both of these programs playing at the highest level. Gonna be just another tune up game. Michigan hasn't played anyone with a damn pulse yet!
