    I never even knew such a thing as Paper Aircraft Thrower existed. But wow, this is such amazing stuff that someone can build out of paper an aircraft that can fly for so long.

    It's so amazing that the thrower could understand exactly what types of changes he needed to make to get it to fly farther. I feel as if people don't give athletes enough credit for the skill and knowledge of their sport that it takes to do well.

    This is amazing! I've always liked the idea of paper airplanes, just because airplanes are almost a ludicrous idea to begin with, and then making them out of paper for fun seems so funny XD. I can't wait to see the rest of the airplane videos!

    What the heck is that guy talking about? He didn't even explain Bernoulli's Principal right. He was saying that if you put different coloured smoke over and under the wing, the smoke on the top arrives to the back of the wing first and that's NOT what Bernoulli's Principal is?? Ummmm, yeah, that's exactly what Bernoulli's Principal is. Then he goes to say the principal states the molecules have to arrive at the rear of the wing at the same time. Um, no. That's not what Bernoulli's Principal is. The air on the top of the wing travels faster than the air on the bottom, thus having a lower pressure than the air on the bottom and creating upward lift.

    • @tyn4639
      @tyn4639 10 років тому +27

      Lift is a lot more complicated than you think. Like the man in the video explains, the leading theories which are taught in schools are either incomplete or incorrect, mostly because the truth is a lot more complicated.

    • @trolololoolable
      @trolololoolable 10 років тому +3

      you have no idea of what your saying... it is said that the top air travels faster because it has more distance travel than the bottom air because of the shape of the wing, yet they meet at the same time at the end of the wing. What he said is that they didnt meet at the end of the wing meaning it didnt necessarily travel at the speed it would if Bernoulli's Principal applied

    • @fl2b

      Ty N This is youtube, people, not science-ville

    • @angrygreek1985
      @angrygreek1985 10 років тому +3

      trolololoolable the principal states that the air traveling over the top travels faster than the air traveling along the bottom. Because the air is traveling faster (because of the shape of the wing) there is less pressure than the air on the bottom of the wing. Whether this is the whole story or not does not change that that his how the principal is described. I only watched the video once but it sounded like he was saying that is not how the theory works...watching it again though I can see what he is saying and I think I misinterpreted what he was saying originally.

    Way back in the day on PBS there was a show about planes and cool flying toys. There was a guy who had the same kind of walk behind plane. So I spent along time trying to find a place that sells them. Found em in hong kong and they're a styrofoam wing. Works the same way as his did. Wish I knew how to make that!

    There are more efficient ways of doing it if it is actually propelled by fuel. Also, airliners aren't always too keen to try out new plane designs with all but the most solid theoretical backings because planes are expensive to build and having an occupied plane crashing could cost them their business for ages.

    G'day,
    Backtrack me to my "Aerodmodelling For Children" Playlist, wherein the Video, "World's Best Paper Aeroplane...", posted in 2011, shows how to fold this Design, and explains why it works *so* well...; I first saw it in 1973, being made and flown by a Papuan Highlander who was in Boarding-School in Australia..., presumably some Bush-Pilot taught his Village how to make them in the 1960's, unless it dates to the Aircrew operating there during WW-2.
    This bloke makes and understands how to tune them, and he may even have indepdndantly reinvented them, but the *Design* itself is what is classed as "Prior Knowledge", in the same way as if he were to have whittled-down a Tree and made claims to having invented the Wheel...
    Just(ifiably ?) saying...
    ;-p
    Ciao !

    If the air flows faster over the top of the wing, wouldn't it HAVE to reach the trailing edge first?
    That higher speed flow would reduce the air pressure and create lift. I know there's more involved but wouldn't that be true?
