My dad and uncle were in the metropolitan police in the 60s till 2005 so glad they're passed so they can't see this shower of so-called police. My dad saw the rot setting in in early 2000s.
My father and uncle were in the Met / West Mercia as well. As much as I miss my dad, like you I am glad that he is not around to see the current state of policing in this country. Like your father, he saw things change. One of the things that he would point out was that the modern police aren't required to know the law and he saw this as one of the main reasons for the decline.

It’s all very sad, years ago when I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s we all respected our Police. Now the Police go by the letter of the law (at least most do) but unfortunately some are just too busy ignoring what civilians need. Discussion, empathy, compassion, communication and tolerance. Everyone seems to be in a hurry and some people are so angry, there is no need for it. ❤️
