    Egyptian guns are my favorite aesthetics of firearms, idk why but seeing western made, or Soviet made weapons in the hands of the Egyptians with their markings is so cool. Maybe cause they are the most southern Islamic state with some serious history, idk why, I just really appreciate it.

    I love how no matter which firearm I’m researching are trying to find more information on I always find myself making my way back to Ian and forgotten weapons. And I really appreciate how when you’re being informed about the background on the rifle,machine gun,pistol what have you and he’s going over the components the platform is right in front of you so when he’s talking about it to his hands are on what he is describing and I find it so much easier to retain that information without physically having the platform in front of myself personally. Amazing channel.

    FN49s are really fun to shoot. Vigorous ejection of the empty, a nice "push" from the recoil. A HUGE report that scares people at the range line. I miss mine.

    As always, Thanks for the great video. I would like to correct and add a few things.
    1-The serial number is (٣٤٥٧٧) (34577) which is written in the Indian numerals which are the numerals used by most Arabic countries. so it is called Indian numerals or Indo-Arabic numerals NOT Egyptian numerals.
    2-There is a word written in Arabic on the gas valve( غاز), and that word is, you guessed it, GAS!
    3-There are also words written on the stock brass disk (الجيش المصري); which translates to The Egybtian Army.
    4-The number on the scope mount is (٨١٥), and this number is (815).
    As an additional info, Here are the Indo-Arabic numerals from 10 to 0:
    ٠-١-٢-٣-٤-٥-٦-٧-٨-٩-١٠
    10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-0
    And yes, the numerals used all over the world nowadays are Arabic Numerals while we Arabs reverted to using the Indo-Arabic ones. Strange how this world works.

    It's actually 34577, not 34588, but an 8 is just an upside down 7 in Arabic so foibles are understandable.

      This is Indian numerals not Arabic. The whole world adopted the Arabic numerals except Arabs they're using Indian numerals. Now they began to change that.

    The serial number is actually 34577 not 34588. I understand the confusion due to the similarity between the Hindi 7 (٧) and 8 (٨) they’re the same numeral but flipped basically, just thought it might be important to point that out.

      But last year they have found a huge statute buried under the sand and the stupid workers has broken its head so I tell if anyone in this world that don't how much their Archaeology worth its the Egyptians

    The Egyptians adopted 8mm because they had a (formerly British) massive Depot of captured German weapons from ww2 they also had the British armory from Cairo to manufacture the 7.92 Mauser that the British manufactured for the British middle East command and a considerable amount of said ammo .by the way the reason the British used it for the besa tank machine gun .

    Thanks! I have a buddy that had a standard issue Egyptian FN 49. It was a beast. As long as you had a truck or jeep to haul it, you could shoot it anywhere. Will you and Karl be doing a mud test on one of these?

    I own 2 century arms import models ( non sniper) imported in the 1990's.One has a dovetailed receiver ,the other does not.Around the same time ,I got a great deal on new in cosmoline barrels caliber 7.92 Mauser for FN 49 for $19.87 each when bought in a group of ten.That coupled with about 8000 rounds ammo purchased for around 15 cents each,I think I made a good investment.The rifles are very accurate and reliable.

    I'm just guessing, but the Egyptians might have tested the batches of shipments to decide which rifles can be turned to the sniper version? That would explain all the mess with the serial numbers...

    Ironically the British made the prototypes for this rifle and tested it shortly after the war was over,but decided to go with the EM-2
    And then to the L1A1 ie a non metric FAL!

    Deciding which one to turn into snippers was probably not random. soot them all in the bach pick the best ones to turn into snippers, send the rest to the armory GI stacks

      Yeah, having one of the standard Egyptian models, that's pretty much what it is. Realistically, the FAL is one of these reconfigured to a more 'Sturmgewehr' style layout (and originally in an intermediate cartridge). Very nice rifles, provided you can find one where the bore wasn't corroded away by failure to properly clean the corrosive primer residue out.

    Just note, "Meopta" is not pronounced like you'd have first part as word "Me", but like for example word "Mega".

    Please review some Ghost pistol (M1911 Colt) Which is handmade, And it looks like 1-1 image of M1911 complete with fake serial number and logos (Which looks like the same) These were handmade and was handcrafted with aids of simple tool. That took months to made... That really looks like an actual factory made 1911 pistol.
    also it was made in the mountains. inside a shack and the testing is.. Well just fire anywhere.

      They're quite different if you put them side by side but a lot of these WW2 and immediately post WW2 era semi-automatic battle rifles have very similar silhouettes. The MAS-49 has a detachable box magazine whereas the FN-49 is a fixed magazine meant to be loaded with stripper clips. Internally I think the only similarities the two have in common is that they're both hammer fired, falling block actions, but that's true for a lot of these types of rifles like the SVT-40, SKS, Hakim, and probably a few others that I'm missing.

    People here miss the fact that ٢ is 2 not ٣ which is 3, people usually neglect to write the correct number of, let's call them"horns", which makes them hard to differentiate. But this one is flat so it's either that whoever wrote it was illiterate in arabic numerals or that's it's a fake 24577

      The Hakim is a Ljungman based rifle.

      Likely not. The Hakim is an Egyptian variant of the Ljüngmann AG-42B, a worse rifle design in every way. They should have built FN's instead
