    I can lots of my home grown dry beans. Did 60 pints just last week and that was just less than half of the beans I grew this year. I dry quite a bit too. Got tons of white and red rice too, and lots of Montana Morado dry corn which I can nixtilify etc. grew that too. I dry fruit, make chutney, a little jam. And yup we get 12-15 gallons of maple syrup from our own trees each year.

    Best pickled eggs are beet pickled eggs. Vinegar, canned beets, and pickling mix, serve with salt.

      I always wondered why Hannah's pickled eggs put red food coloring in their pickled eggs! I guess they are trying to make us think that those eggs are like the beet pickles (which I love!) Trying to learn how to make my own pickled eggs. I was reusing the "juice" from purchased pickled eggs. That will work one time. Then I have to add more vinegar to get the pH low enough for preservation. I think the eggs make the liquid more basic (from the egg protein).

      Well, they say poking the bear is a risky business, but someone’s got to do it! Gotta keep things interesting, right. But seriously, preppers come from all walks of life, and they all do it differently. Just trying to shed some light and maybe a few people might pick up on some new ideas and techniques. thanks for your input. Be safe and be prepared.

    It's nice to hear all the things to store, but it would sure be nice if you would have told HOW to make those items. Can't make this stuff if we don't know how to do it.

      You’re right! I guess I got so carried away with the “what to store” that I forgot the “how to make”! Next time, I’ll throw in a recipe for success! However we are a new channel mainly focused at this time on Survival Tips, Ideas, and Suggestions. Prepping for different situations, Blackouts, Hurricanes, Blizzards Economic Uncertainty. Wilderness Survival, Camping (a lot of camping gear used for survival situations). But we are gearing up to do some outdoor cooking in the near future. So stick around as we grow and learn together. Be Safe, Be Blessed, and always Be Prepared.

      Thanks for the heads up! I muted the video and read the autocaptions. Saved me from getting a headache; I'm a bit sensitive to "noise pollution" after working for years in a very loud environment. I also have to wear earplugs if I go to a store these days. I can handle low volume "elevator music", but not the overly loud stuff that is blaring out most places. One store had heavy metal. That chased me right out and it was a Hardware store! One of my favorite kinds of stores to browse & buy. Got my batteries and got OUT! Cheers!

  • @diannamc367
    @diannamc367 Місяць тому +1

    Well, you said input is helpful, so...
    The first thing i noticed was the recommendation of wild and brown rices. It should be pointed out that these items are for fairly short term storage. They will go rancid if you try to "stockpile" them.
    Most of the other verbal tops seemed ok but much of the stock footage did not match the topics being covered. How many different candies were being shown while speaking on fruit leather?
    In the canning segments too much of the stock footage again and many were not even canning jars. Very misleading.
    You have a pleasant voice but the script was too repetitive. Was that stock/AI as well?
    In general, people will learn alot more if being given examples and actually being shown how to do something by an actual person on the screen.
    If nothing else maybe your video can make people curious and give them a jumping off point to do more research.
    On a positive note, atleast it didn't sound obnoxious and in your face. I'm interested in learning old preseervarion methods not being told the end of the world is coming. There are too many fear mongering channels out there already.

    I'm sorry I can can all these things, you don't know anything about the prepper community we have learned how to do all these thing our ancestors also did all these things and we teach each other the things we might not know this sounds more like your selling for the Amish no thanks

    • @SurvivalScope101
      @SurvivalScope101  Місяць тому +3

      Haha, I promise I'm not an undercover Amish agent trying to sell you on butter churns and quilt-making! Just sharing some ideas from various communities. I know a little about prepping communities and survival. I've spent 60 years born and raised on the Gulf Coast. Dealt with I can't even tell you how many hurricanes and a few tornadoes. Spent time in the Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands as well. Worked just south of Chicago, dealt with winter power outages, ironically, while working at a power plant. When younger, was an avid fisherman, hunter, caught thousands of pounds of Crawfish and Blue Crabs. Lived at the Angola State Penitentiary, my parents worked there for 40+ years. We were taught about safety and survival in that aspect as well. Situational awareness. Self protection. After all, we were around convicts. Me and my brother would get up before school and go to the lake on the Prison Farm (600+ acre lake), check 200 hooks on a catfish line, put fish on ice and then go to school, come home and filet' them and put them in water and freeze them. And do you know what a "COCHON DE LAIT" is? I would spend the entire Christmas Break in the woods hunting, fishing and living off of the land. AAHHH... THE GOOD OLD DAYS!!!
