her english was taught mainly in turkey actually, to communicate with her teammates and coaches on the court. a typical chinese athlete doesn't really need to learn any foreign language. zhu plays for a club overseas so she learnt a bit and now can understand what the interviewer is asking. in the perspective of an english speaker, her english is really bad but u'd better not laugh at her because of this kind of peripheral issue. as for the english education in east asia, it's acceptable. there aren't many ppl speaking fluent english but they don't need very good english anyway.
Maybe you live in a remote village? ;) Any person with education should be able to express themselves in an international context. Willy-nilly English is today's international language. Especially a person who lives and works abroad should have a good command of English. Otherwise people would think of them to be some moron. She was "taught" English by some improvised "teacher", another Chinese girl.
SoVideo First, I live in a metropolis in an English-speaking country and I have never lived in a remote village (except some trips). Second, we need to express ourselves in an international context but not necessarily via our own mouths, that's why we have translators. While there is no denying that English is the ONLY international language nowadays, it does not mean a person working abroad should be accused of bad English if they have a perfect career. Everything is required for a reason and English is required for working purposes. If she works well, then it shows she meets the requirement. Certainly I know she has (should be "had" actually) a teacher. That HK girl is called Carmen, mainly did translation for Zhu and looked after her life. Now that girl is not with Zhu anymore though. Zhu is accompanied by another dietacian this year and she learns English via online courses.
Nice joke the one with the translators ;) Persons with "perfect" (?) careers should combine that with good English and good computer skills. She has neither ;) So, it is fine that she is just a sport android? And be sure she learns NOTHING now ;) I've been in this field (an EFL teacher) and I know how bad those improvised teachers are. And they have fancy certificates :) So tell her to contact me if she wants to repair the damage those caused. Bad EFL teachers are the main cause why Asians speak such bad English, although they come from intelligent nations. (And it is "dietitian" ;) )
SoVideo being the highest paid volleyball player (male and female) in the second year of her career as volleyball professional and received a bunch of MVPs. it's good enough to be qualified as a perfect career (actually she didn't think it perfect since she didn't get all the champions, maybe we say "a very successful career" or "the best achievement among all volleyball players in these two years"). good english and computer skills are required to achieve a perfect career? it's not very convincing. an IT professional in an english-speaking country naturally have it but presidents in asian and european countries may not speak english and an awesome artist may be totally a layman in coding. but is it proper to say these "disqualified" people don't have a very successful career? we call them politics android and music android? BTW, "dietician" is just a variant spelling of "dietitian".
I understood everything she said. I translate, for you: " We kicked their butts from both offense and defense... from both sides of the court all DAY... didn't even break a sweat. who ever is next... better looked the --- out and get out of the way.... thank you... I shall look forward to open the next can of wooooo-pass"
As Asian volleyball player, they don't get trained well in English language because they put a lot of efforts on the court. It's not that important as long as they put their good performance in the courts.
Japanese, Korean, Chinese, they are proud of their language. They seem not like to learn other languages as my experiences of studying in China with japanese and korean students. Honestly, they just don’t speak English. It’s kinda funny....
Cute ^^ Zhuting I know you are doing best to learn english Your English is not bad Don't worry Be Happy !!! Keep going. Confidence is best way to learn english Try Try Then better
soVideo - because it is hard to find good English teacher/tutor in Turkey, that's why she needs to go to English speaking countries. With 郎平 connection and her high salary, I believe she can afford to find a good teacher.
No, you got it totally wrong :) It's exactly the opposite! It is very hard to find an EFL teacher in an English- speaking country, because most of them are improvised and have no ability to understand their own mother tongue as a foreign language and no ability to teach linguistics. On the contrary, in a non-English country, there are people specialised in teaching EFL, with specific methods and materials, with specific training. Even so it is so hard to find a COMPETENT EFL tutor. And the result is the way most East-Asians speak English today. Not because they have some mental handicap, but because they had horrible incompetent teachers.
soVideo - Just like foreigners who learn Chinese in China to be proficient, same as 朱婷 situation. There are many ESL institutes in USA where I live, but they are expensive tuition wise, Better yet, if she can stay with English speaking family for awhile, that will improve her English tremendously.
no need to speak English. She speaks with her talent on the court is enough.
I think the reporter English was not good either
Even you've got the most prestigious English certificate, you'll never achieve as much as Zhu Ting on the Volleyball court.
PREACH!
She is the BEST yet she is the MOST HUMBLE. ❤

HaoHao MeiMei haha that's alright😉
On volleyball court, English is nothing! You never have to ace English in order to get an MVP!
Or the language would get hurt by how hard she spikes. She speaks fine, honestly.
Super cute ni Zhu Thing tumawa hahhaa, napaka seryoso sa court pero sa labas charming hahaha love from Philippines!!!
ADORABLE ! SHE DOES NOT NEED TO SPEAK ENGLISH TO BE A LEADER !
I understood everything she said.

The interviewer English is not much better than her.
Indeed. This is how English is taught in Asia by amateurish "native speakers"...

Nice imperialist title. Disliked.
I think Zhu Ting should study English in English speaking countries during off season.
Neah! She (anyone) just needs a competent teacher/tutor. Sadly, as a paradox, these are so hard to find!

so cute
Translator pls
Maybe try to interview in chinese!
Chinese is very far from becoming an international language. And many young Chinese refuse to use the difficult writing system.
@@sovideo_ who said that? Are u crazy
