I have a very small place in France and always wanted to keep one of these down in the cellar so I could use it for pottering about when I'm there. I wasn't sure how safe it would be to keep in the cellar. I also wasn't quite so keen having to get number plates, helmet and insurance for a motorized bicycle. I assumed all you needed was a baguette and a bag of onions.

Haha! Wonderful. As we would say in Australia…she really pisses along! Well done, love her. 🥰👍🙏🇦🇺🦘

Having to adjust the choke partially on usually means the tiny hole on the inside of the carb just before or after the slide (depending on what carb is on it) is clogged. If you turn your mixture screw and it does nothing. Then that little hole is clogged.

No one who enjoys a velosolex is crazy! Have you ever seen the vingt quattres heures du mans. Epic madness.

i certainly won't argue with Brian's comments at all regarding the choke lever settings (i;ve seen a lot of his videos and he knows these machines inside out!!), but a thought that comes to my mind is maybe a dirty gas filter. if an engine is starved for gas, then choking it a bit is helping to overcome that.

007tallguy thank you,I will be giving her a good service this winter and will check/clean any filter I can now too yes. ,they are so much fun to ride and great in town as you simply get off and push it easily through the pedestrian areas easily when you need to. Also a very good conversation starter with interested people.

Are you sure that's a 1985? I have one just like it, and mine is a 2004. Made by Impex in Hungary. It has the same plastic hand controls. I thought all of the older ones had the metal reversed brake levers. I managed to get what may have been the last one available in the U.S. Brian helped me get it.

Yes it's definitely the 1985 model but impex bought the design I understand and build them to the same design apparently, why change a design that is tried and tested over time I guess. Great fun aren't they

Great video! What mile per gallon do you get on one of these?

Adam Cooke hi, and thanks. I have not ridden it for hundreds of miles yet but do plan to do a France trip as soon as a mate gets his registered for road use. I am led to believe they will achieve anything between 200-300 mpg ! Which on the fuel use so far on mine I’d be inclined to believe. The real test will be the long trip we plan, I’ll be sure to do some filming and put it up on my channel for others to enjoy. Are you planning on getting one or do you already? All the best, happy biking
