Companies dispatched for smoke in the residence. 44 Command went on location with a working fire on the 2nd floor. One line in service with a couple windows taken for Horizontal ventilation.

I grew up in Springfield, and was on the Ambulance Corps when I was in high school 40+ years ago. We responded to structure fires as 44-7 and 44-7A. Good to see the maroon paint again. I always thought we had the best looking equipment. Good knock down on this one. Hopefully not to much damage that can't be easily repaired. Those homes were all built after World War 2, and had plaster on lath instead of drywall. My little brother decided to play with matches in our bedroom one time and burned my older brother's bed (1974). I remember seeing the lath and plaster when they had to rip it out. It actually held up quite well to the direct fire and heat. Companies 44 and 14 both had a full response, but the old 44-1 had it knocked down in no time.
