Voices change over time. Everyone saying "Bring back Messiah!" would likely not be happy with how he sounds these days either.

@@disturbingiconic4337 It's been over 30 years since his prime. I don't need to hear him to know there's no way he sounds the same. No one's voice does after that much time. Hell, he didn't sound the same on the reunion album from the early 2000s.

i came to that solo. bro its always been like this. candlemass lead guitars are beautiful.
I get why people are criticizing the new material. It did take me a minute to form a proper opinion on it because I'm biased towards their 'classic' sound myself-- but I think the almost hard rock tinge that Cmass seem to be going for w/ Sweet Evil Sun suits them nowadays. It's definitely different than the early stuff, but these are also definitely different people than they were in the 80s... Stylistic progression is good if you have an open mind to it, and the old records are always gonna be there if you don't like this! But personally I think this'll be a bloody good album.
I’m in Candlemass music starting from Epicus D. M. Era. The time when Modern Talking were still alive :) and I think 2022 Album is not worse then the 1st one.

To know our present we can look to the past. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath was the first experimental release from the main doom masters it also took some time for fans to get used too and we all know how that played out. The only issue is I find myslef waning a bit toward the end of the record...if Messiah was singing on this all would be different. 🙂

Both of these songs remind me of Death They Lover. They are catchy but lack that epic doom feel. I'm concerned about this new album.

Spent the majority of my time listening to this band being too nervous to listen to their new stuff, but I am sure as hell glad that I decided to check it out!
Amazing new tune, yes we still miss Messiah but this is great, really hoping a US Tour happens for this release, after the recent NY live show I do think you guys know waiting another 15 years to come back is not in the cards we were starving for some live Candlemass that show was insane from start to finish.
Amazing album... they have such a high level throughout their history it's almost ridiculous. A friend made me a tape back in 1988 "Epicus..." on one side and "Trouble" on the other side... been hooked to this music ever since. And this song just feels lika a natural progression or evolution if you will while maintaining that perfect "Candlemass" feeling.
I have played "Epicus..." every week since '88 and will probably continue to do that 'til I die... I never get tired of it...
Thank you Leif - for keeping it together for all these years and never fail to release epic material.

At first I used to say their new stuff could never compare to Epicus, or Nightfall but it's become one of my favorite metal albums of all. Sweet Sweet Evil Sun 🌞

people have to get used to Johan being back in the band since he was the singer for the first album until he returned back in 2018
I love the idea of Johan being back but he doesn't sound like the Johan of old. I still like him better than Leven but I'm having trouble adjusting to him singing songs that could have been on the Leven ep's.
Oh for chrissakes, Messiah hasn't been in the band for ages now... Get over it.

Fuckin' great to have Candlemass back. Still making incredibly gloomy sick metal riffs. As they do. Masters of their craft.
I don't think they can ever top Messiah/Lowe era albums (Bleeding Baroness, Of Stars And Smoke, Samaritan) top tier stuff. But this sounds decent
Honestly the last album was better than Psalms for the Dead with Lowe imho.

Not a Christian band, they have said it multiple times in interviews.
If I imagine Messiah, I fall in love with it!... No discredit to the current guy and all respect... I just can't get over associating the mighty Candlemass with the icon I fell in love with for decades.
Messiah captivated me just as much as he did many. But I thought Lowe was spectacular, do you not feel his albums represent Candlemass just as well?

I've always got time for a band that's been playing Metal for as long as I've been listening to Metal :D. In all that time, they've had a winning formula and stuck with it, which is good ol' flattened fifth Classic Doom. And why not? So if you like Classic Metal Doom, this is the band for you - they'll never let you down. And this track is - guess what - more of the same. My Score: Good 3*
I love this!! Great form on this! Gotta listen to the entire album. Johan's vocals are really great, better than on the previous album. I loved Messiah's vocals as well, but he is an incorrigible diva with a real Messiah complex, like most operatic singers, and who needs that headache? Would we want to sacrifice the members of Candlemass's mental health just to have Messiah back?
Also in many ways I prefer Johan's vocals... they are dirtier and grittier and has a more bluesy, punky voice. Hey, I'm one of those people who prefer Paul Di'Anno's vocals to Bruce Dickinsons so hey that is on me. It just sounds more organic and punky. Plus live Johan doesn't drown out all the riffs with "Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!"... Doom metal is ultimately about the vibe and the riffs to me. Leif kicks ass as always!

Very good song in this attempt to join the Scandinavian Metal Style, but I prefer Candlemass style, that glorious Doom which gave us a gem like Astorolus a couple of years ago!

Con todo respeto a una de mis bandas favoritas, no difiere mucho con lo que venían haciendo con Robert Lowe, que en mi opinión, Psalms for the Dead fue un trabajo superior a The Door to Doom, las dos canciones que he escuchado de este nuevo disco suenan repetitivas a lo que han hecho antes y se que pueden hacerlo mucho mejor, , espero las otras suenen más brutales, como extraño el impacto que me generó el regreso con el disco blanco con Messiah, pero esos días no volverán.

En efecto, la etapa con Messiah Marcolini, es verdaderamente insuperable. En mi criterio, la Banda se ha mantenido en el transcurrir del tiempo, ocupando su merecido lugar, dentro del género DOOM, si bien todo es perfectible, es extremadamente dificultoso que tengamos trabajos como Nightfall o Tales of Creation, trabajo éste que considero una Masterpiece... @@davidortega4422 no espero que lleguen a la gloria de los primeros discos con Marcolin, pero cuando se reunieron con el hicieron un disco impresionante, lástima que duró tan poco, cuando regresó Johan Langquist, pense que retornarian al sonido del EDM pero nada que ver, muy en la línea de lo que venían haciendo con Lowe que no es malo tampoco, soy muy fan de ellos tengo todos sus discos e inclusive la etapa más rara de los 90s aunque de allí salvaría el Chapter VI que a pocas personas le gusta, pero a mi me parece genial, por lo menos siguen siendo una piedra angular del Doom Metal y eso es indiscutible.
@@hmrvargas En definitiva tenemos inmensas coincidencias, incluso en referencia al álbum Chapter VI, donde tenemos temas como; Julie Laughs No More, Where the Runes Still Speak o Aftermath, simplemente excelente. Adicionamente, en mi opinión el retorno de Johan Längquist, es acertado, más, no espero que retomen el sonido y líricas del icónico Epicus Doomicus Metallicus... Saludos
@@davidortega4422 Where the Runes Still Speak tiene uno de los solos más brutales de Lars Johansson que ha hecho en su carrera, por eso el de este video no me pareció tan brutal como ese, también celebro que hayan contratado de nuevo a Johan porque no me gustaba como sonaba Candlemass con Matts Leven, a pesar de que me parece un excelente vocalista, pega más en los otros proyectos del bajista como Krux o Abstrak Algebra.
