    My Lord Commissar with Emperor's Benediction has killed (to date):
    3 Dakkajets
    6 Ork Boys
    A Morkanaut (well, it's last wound anyways)
    Vulkan H'stan himself
    Swarmlord
    Typhus
    3 Plague Marines
    Probably some more less impressive stuff over various battles.
    and 7 cowardly guardsmen.
    My god I love this guy.

    A Commissar only executes a Psyker if he would be slain as a result of perils of the warp, so a 4 wound Primaris Psyker is safe from his Boltgun :)

      Actually only the primaris psyker has the for your own good rule. Commissars don't execute astropaths.

      That just means he can execute him 4 times.

    On my battlefields lord commissar Vasquez has not survived a single battle - he always charges the oncoming enemy lines at one point or another. He has killed an intercessor after charging their squad and he has killed chorne berserkers with The Emperor's Benediction. Though usually he just dies in battle with a necron lord or equivalent enemy HQ choice. He has also never executed any Mordian guardsman, but that is to be expected.
    And if nothing else, with me owning no command squads, the lord commissar and my primaris psyker make a cool retinue for my warlord company commander.

    My Catachans' commisars keep accidentally being eaten by monsters or falling off cliffs- the boys try their best to save them, but there was just no helping them, sadly. ;-)

    When you can get an astropath for 1 point less that deals mortal wounds, commissar seems pretty lackluster.

    • @benkaes3657
      @benkaes3657 4 роки тому +4

      Yeah, the only commissars I would recomend you bring would be HQ choices, seeing as "rule of three" hurts the Guard hard. That, and they cost around as much as a Company Commander. Easy way to bring a Supreme Command detachment, so your Baneblades get regimental traits.

    • @Leifenguard
      @Leifenguard 4 роки тому

      @@benkaes3657 By that point you should just bring in tank commanders and comp commander, or even primaris psychers because they all have proactive combat abilities whereas lord commissars have limited tactical flexibility.

    • @benkaes3657
      @benkaes3657 4 роки тому

      @@Leifenguard not bad ideas, but in my case I already have three comp commanders and three Primaris psykers in my current list. I don't really have the points for 3 tank commanders and a baneblade, so I compromise. I do agree that the Guard has better options than Commisars (whether they are Lords or otherwise), my problem is that for the most part, I'm already using them.

    There might be even a situation where it is usefull to reroll aiming for a higher number.
    For example: Denying the opponent an easy kill in their next turn, by finishing of a unit now, when they already scored "kill more" this turn.

  • @longhunter5935

    Maybe it’s my great experience with them in 7th as well as 8e that continues to made them an auto include in my guard list. Since 7e I have ran sort of a melee squad: company commander, commissar, and offer a priest all nestled in a huge group of guardsmen. This has now moved to often replace the priest with a primaris psykers but when playing a Catachan list the Priest always seems to stay. With the recent drop in astropaths these are now replace most of my Primaris psykers.

    Glad you brought up that master of command trait as I had been wondering if the new keyword had negated Yarrick's ability to issue orders to scions if he is the warlord.

  • @Trickstick77
    @Trickstick77 4 роки тому +2

    Nice video, I do enjoy watching them to see if there is anything that I have missed.
    You did make a small error regarding Its For Your Own Good. The ability only triggers if the perils slays the psyker, preventing the mortal wounds aura. So there is no downside, the Commissar just prevents damage to other units.

  • @MyDelta38
    @MyDelta38 4 роки тому +2

    One thing about the voice of command warlord trait is it also allows the commissar to order a units that normally never receive orders. For example Bullgryn normally never get orders be cause their regimental keyword is "Abhuman Auxilia" and it is not possible to take a company or platoon commander with this regimental keyword. Since the Commissar can issue it to any regiment it can be used to make Bullgryn benefit from Fix Bayonets or Re-roll 1's to hit or wound with a large squad of ratlings.

    • @Trickstick77
      @Trickstick77 4 роки тому +1

      I don't think that is true. This errata:
      Page 140 - Master of CommandAdd the following sentence:‘If your Warlord is a Commissar, it can issue an order to any Infantry unit (irrespective of what regiment that unit is from - e.g. Militarum Tempestus, Cadian, etc.)’
      Would mean that the unit still needs to be , and I don't think Abhuman Auxilia counts.

    • @chanachon56
      @chanachon56 4 роки тому

      @@Trickstick77 Yup. According to the codex, the abhuman units do not have the keyword. So unless there's FAQ somewhere that rectified this, then yeah, you're correct.

    As a Mordian, I find Commissars very interesting due to our high morale - since Parade Drill only increases our Ld by +1 rather than changing the base stat, it increases whatever Aura of Leadership increases it to. With Yarrick amongst my men, the Guardsmen of the Mordian 59th have 10 Ld. That matches Guilliman. Short to say, The Hero of Hades Hive continues his tradition of not having to execute anyone while he accompanies my armies.

    • @Trickstick77
      @Trickstick77 4 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately that doesn't work. There was an FAQ that states:
      Q: Some Characters have aura abilities, such as a Commissar’s Aura of Discipline or a Chaplain’s Spiritual Leader, that allow nearby friendly units to use the character’s Leadership characteristic instead of their own. There are also lots of abilities that modify Leadership characteristics. Could you explain how these rules interact and in what order I should apply the substitution and any modifications?
      A: You modify the Leadership characteristic first, then you use the character’s Leadership characteristic instead (this means that the modification will not affect the unit unless the character’s Leadership has also been modified).
      So, unless you can modify the Commissar's leadership it doesn't work, and Commissars can't be Mordian.

    I like bringing Lord Commissars with my Catachan Infantry Hell Ball. I kit him out with a boltgun and power maul. Doing this, he's pretty good in melee, allowing him to tie up pesky Marines, demons, and pretty much anything else the Emperor seems Heretical. Combined with Yarrick, Straken, and my axe wielding sergeants, my hell ball is pretty deadly in melee, surprisingly.

    Used to love commisars, have around 30 from back when you could attach one to units but with the new rules for Mordians and moral basically getting one for free Ive stopped using them, which is sad as I rather do love the lore behind them and the way the models look on the table top.
