Full range speakers are absolutely required. Not that I've got any! However, I do have the next best thing.. Standmounts going full range with the help of a stereo pair of high-performance subs. Perfect for small listening rooms, btw
Being a 50 year old grumpy old fart there isn't a lot of modern music that I enjoy (unlike the Mrs who listens to any old mainstream shit) but when I saw this on Jools the other night I couldn't believe what I just heard. This band is without doubt the best I have heard for manys a long year, energetic singer and excellent musicians, I didn't think stuff like this existed anymore, been downloading a lot of their stuff and each track is as good as the next, not sure if I'm the age group they are aiming for but this really is excellent stuff.
I'll second that. And add a suggestion: Check out a group called The War on Drugs, they have an new album coming out soon. Lead singer sounds like Bob Dylan and Mark Knopflers love child. In my opinion. I think you'll dig 'em. Chao!
I have to agree completely with your comment. I was totally taken aback by this track and its performing on stage I had to rewind it and listen again to it, again and again and again. The lead singer is a bit bonkers but wow what a great track and performance. Has a bass line like the Cure, lyrics a bit like The Killing joke and a passion like no other!
Dear Mr Grumpy, please listen to Radio Paradise. (No, it's not a new age, religious or other zany radio station.) You'll find a lot of great new music on there, without ads or other BS
I fit in to your bracket too, and totally agree with all you say. I bought'far fields' and from the first notes on the album it made the hairs on my arm stand up and still does, what a talent these guys are.
This is not just songs. This is a whole story with the most honest performance I've seen for years. Every song is laid bear by the lead singer in traditional story telling style.
I was extremely lucky to be standing next to the set when he performed this .at 2.55 when he shook his fist it was straight at myself and a friend... what a performance 👏
It's the powerful, passionate delivery of amazing lyrics backed by fantastic musicians. Truly memorable. This was new to me a few days ago and I can't get over it.
Jesus, I’ve been trying to define how this band makes me feel and I came across your comment - it sums up how this band makes me feel perfectly. I’ve not been able to define it before so thanks. It’s almost unnerving how this band makes your emotions bubble to the surface so violently. Amazing.
I’m crying 😭 with a pure heart and dancing 🕺 like a banshee. Every time I listen to these Guys I get an emotional overload of purity that makes my sole vibrate and it is almost overwhelming. It’s just so beautiful 🤩. Thank you Future islands.🙏
This song was my therapy during last months of my last relationship with psychopatic woman, it was so hard to leave, but this helped me to built up the emotion, and finally starts over. This songs is for me a manifest of standing by myself and finally yelling, i dont believe anymore, i wont grief anymore...for you... Its just so emotive, that i totally understand they performed only 20-30times the song, its just so emotional that even for Sam it has to be hard to get back to the feelings he had. Anyway i just thanks for this song.
Being a 60 plus grumpy old man, I find the music I end up enjoying in all sorts of strange places. When I lived in the UK I picked up a few bands and artists I now love from watching "Later with Jools". But these days, random videos appearing up on UA-cam, like this one can end up bring me so much joy. As I get older, depression can get me really down, but watching these guys and similar energetic groups helps a lot. Their music and the energy lifts my soul and brings me back to feeling there is enjoyment and hope in left.
Northern soul dancer, after a couple of ‘swift halfs’ stands in for the lead singer. He has a few ‘anger issues’, but pulls it off. Stunning performance. You are in my favourites list, love it!
Like most people, after 10 seconds I thought 'wtf is going on?' Couldn't actually take my eyes off it though, and not much holds my attention for long. Madly brilliantly mad.
I love Future Islands....And I love every album, it's deep and magical to listen to music so exciting on so many levels ... as to how to act on stage, it reminds me of David Thomas, Pere Ubu revived in another context
Never heard of these guys until I saw them on Jools the other night - within 1st minute I'm also thinking of the brilliant David Thomas ( also Captain Beefheart! ) Totally mesmerising performance and fabulous musicianship.
As me and a friend was driving home from a game of badminton about 2 days ago I played him Roxy musics jealous guy. To which the outro is mixture of bass and synth which we both enjoyed. After which he then put on future island - king of Sweden and I was blown away., and now been down the UA-cam rabbit hole and keep finding absolute gems I can’t believe I’ve never discovered them before now, although better late than never I suppose
There is something mysterious and mesmerising about the whole thing: bass lines, synths, drumer, voices, dance, lyrics . . . I just can't stop watching this performance again and again.
Absolutely fantastic band.Sam sings from the heart and the true emotion from him is honest and stunning.I have only just discovered Future Islands and I so want to see them!👍
Saw them last night at Brixton Academy 21/11/2017 they were only three handed and were Bang Bang on and their support band were very very good as well a two drummer band called Zack Mexico playing Psychedelic pop indie stuff, Saw Future Islands first on the great Jools Holland show waited a long time to see them live really worth the wait*****
Ian Curtisesque type lead frontman, early Joy Division sounding wth slower rhythmic bass riffs, smashing track, so full of intent and purpose and boy does the lead singer throw this song out there - classic stuff from Future Islands.
Ok that ending note......hats off guys for pulling it off absolutely perfectly. The director for the cameras obviously knew this great bit was coming. Most other TV channels would have missed it...not our BBC.
I think it's safe to say this man sings from the heart.
That bass is absolutely purring
nothing tastier than whaever comes out of that ampeg fridge
mesmeric !
Full range speakers are absolutely required. Not that I've got any! However, I do have the next best thing.. Standmounts going full range with the help of a stereo pair of high-performance subs. Perfect for small listening rooms, btw
Sounds great. Has strong U2 New Year’s Day vibes

I've sung and danced like this guy for 35+ years in the pub, at weddings....everyone laughed at me...I said..'...you wait and see..'..
And who's laughing now
Haha 🤣🤣🤣
Pmsl
See what?
This is not just songs. This is a whole story with the most honest performance I've seen for years. Every song is laid bear by the lead singer in traditional story telling style.
Couldn't have said it better myself
he's just going for it, such an amazing performance

It's like trying to fart and sneeze at the same time.

Like Shakespeare's Richard III crossed with Tindersticks undergoing an exorcism: brilliant! What a band. Lead singer is great.
Quality band with a frontman who has a personality
and puts everything into it ! 👍
Simply awesome. X.
There is something mysterious and mesmerising about the whole thing: bass lines, synths, drumer, voices, dance, lyrics . . . I just can't stop watching this performance again and again.

Keep coming back to this months on.
Outstanding!
super tune.....epic and authentic......thanks from Germany.....
Wow, his performances on Jools are legendary! I first saw them on there and was blown away.
I love Future Islands even though he looks like a drunk office worker or your dad. He's somewhat eccentric and makes me smile even if unintentionally.
Chris F 71 I don't think anyone gives a sh*t what he looks like.
Brilliant. So good to see something a bit different/unusual. Love the new album.
Awesome. Original and what a stage presence ....
Great Music.
