I love you saying about buying local and second hand to stick it to the man! I wish I could do it more but I don't drive and there's not as many good things in my city second hand. BUT my partner and I just bought out first place together and we've agreed we'll be patient with our furniture, not rush into things and buy second hand where we can! When I got my place alone I just desperately needed furniture so I didn't think it through as much. So excited for that journey! (Also a huge second hand furniture store just opened up round the corner so hopefully that will bless us!!)

I was just on the phone wishing my 84-year-old mother a happy birthday (literally right b4 watching this!) and she was talking about how she was raised on the radio, how it’s a shame, young people don’t listen to the radio anymore. She thought everybody should get a radio too!!!
I love NPR (National Public Radio)! There is at least one station in and near major cities. You can also stream NPR online or from an app. Although they will play some of the same shows, each city has their own feeling and style so you can listen from one’s from different areas.
Also, your radio find is gorgeous!
Finally, your plant caught my eye and I looked it up and I will be getting a QUIETTCEX Split-leaf Philodendron too. The leaves look like curly/wiggly fingers that made me smile.

I forgot to mention NPR has a NPR Tiny Desk channel on UA-cam that has great jam sessions from various artists!
I grew up with a familiarity of public radio because my dad was a professor at two different HBCUs and they both had stations on campus, and once I was grown I sought out those stations in the cities I lived in. Clark Atlanta University has a fantastic station that is world renowned. And then there is also NPR of course. The left side of the dial is really where it’s at especially for us old heads lol.

Lolol. I've always been aware of radio, but I grew up only listening to the hit/hot stations that played pop/hip-hop/r&b. I hadn't ever listened to locally, publicly funded stations that talk about social issues honestly and that don't have commercials. I am 31 🤪.
I used to volunteer at KCRW and I’m so glad you’ve discovered public radio! I didn’t grow up with it either, but I’m so passionate about it now. ❤

I love radio! I've been casually looking for a new one for my house. I'm about 10 years older than you, and in theory that's not much of an age gap but in terms of technology, it's a lot. I grew up listening to the radio heavily, recording songs on my tapes of the radio, etc. I used to listen to public access plus "regular" radio stations. I still do that plus my streaming music service. Public access radio is so cool. I agree with you, everyone should have a radio! You found a real gem.
