On cargo ships Bulk Carrier, Chief Officer is usually in charge of the forward station during unberthing operation or a ship leaving the berth. Mooring and Unmooring is a risky operation on board ships. There are a lot of accidents over the years involving mooring operation during berthing, unberthing and ship to ship operations.
