Another gorgeous engine. It's really nice this Vision Line can make 054; makes it tempting as I can run it! But after seeing how awesome the Lionmaster engine is in my newly acquired LC Big Boy, I'm excited for my already pre-ordered Pacemaker J3A!
The 1950 773,is still my favorite Hudson built. The fact my late grandfather bought it in a junk bin at a hardware store in the 1960’s. I will always enjoy her.. yet I want this one as well.
I have 2 gorgeous NYC engines: The Mohawk and the 2010 Vision Line Hudson. I was very lucky with those 2, because they came at real bargain prices (paid just 1k for the Vision Line 4 months ago and the Mohawk came to me for 800 on an eBay auction with me as the only bidder)Those will remain like that pulling some great NYC K-Line passenger cars I've gotten.. I think I will go for the one with the smoking tender to make it N de M 😁
I picked up the MTH Premier Hudson last year for $1000. It runs on O-42 and has a steaming / quilling whistle that I like. Excellent value for the price and a lot of high end details.
Finding a preowned version from 2010 is kinda difficult and when you do find one, they’re already expensive! So it’s almost better to go in on the 125th Anniversary release!
If I were to get a Hudson, I'd get the LionMaster. Hopefully, I can get it with what looks like the centipede tender. Now, that would be really cool 😎 I'm buying used steamers save for an MTH Hudson(Ps3). I bought new, but it shorts out when power is applied
Both are fine locomotives. I would take the LionMaster over the VisionLine. It’s a great fit for smaller to medium sized layouts. Although the VisionLine Hudson isn’t exponentially larger and would be okay on my layout, I think that the LionMaster looks just right and would be perfect heading my AMT NYC passenger cars. An excellent video, as always and I’m looking forward to the 3R/4D live stream.
Hey Mike so I did order the lionchief pacemaker Hudson I lo è that red but I have also ordered the vision line fantasy gray with the water scoop tender i love these features had i know they were going to do this for there 125th i probably would have just gotten the vision red pacemaker but oh well its just money we work to play
While the LionMaster series is great, all my stuff is scale, so I’m sticking with the scale offering. And for me, the extras for Vision engines make it worth it. Actually, I wasn’t going to even consider the Hudson until I saw that Mr. Muffin is offering a Pittsburgh & Lake Erie/NYC custom run. Originally being from the Pittsburgh area, the P&LE has a place on my layout. So I have ordered that one. As it is a customer run, I just hope enough orders come in to get it made. 😊
Yeah they also have a Boston & Albany that I would’ve considered for similar reasons. My dad grew up around that area and it would’ve been cool to run here at home as a nod to that. Hope your run gets made!! I’m sure it will!!
@@Dadified86all so often the railroads we knew when we were younger play into our layouts today. Conrail and Chessie, railroads I knew as a kid, have found a presence on my layout. And thanks for your optimism. I am hopeful it gets produced also.
I'm not a NYC , so,I'll play with them ,but, will pass on these ... although ... the Big 4 also ran these and the Big 4 had rights over IC into Chicago....
It’s not just extra size of a visionline J1e. It’s all the prototypical details and features that semi scale will never have vs full scale. You talking about on the budget semi scale vs full scale visionline. It’s like comparing apples to oranges.
If we’re talking about apples, at their “core” both are 3-rail trains with command control, lights, sound, and smoke. Apples and oranges would be like if they used different track or something 😅 Ones just a VERY fancy version. The other is still nicer than traditional-sized Hudson’s we’ve had before. Both Apples 🍎🍏
Idk? Great engines. The only limitations are your wallets. You want it? You can afford it?? You’ll buy it regardless. It’s the latest and greatest shiny new engine. Just my opinion.
Until O "scale" can figure out how to uncomplicate itself with all these various tiers and "standards," potential newcomers such as myself will instead go with another scale such as HO or N. For example, Y'all managed to take the idea of DCC and muck it up in every goofy proprietary way imaginable vs following the NMRA standards long agreed upon.
Can't go wrong with the LionScale .... for a full scale guys won't go wrong with Legacy ...
I'll be proud to sell you either one !
I love the 700e. But I’m going to stick with the lionmaster J3a model when it comes out
Yeah, I’m sure I could sneak this around my O48 curves but honestly the LionMaster is gonna do everything I need at half the price.
@@Dadified86 I still believe that the price for the New 700e is Bad at all. I think it’s pretty fair bargain

Great video as usual! Love the new hudson’s Visionline & LionMaster! 👍
I am sticking with the Lion Master series, I would love a vision line, but not in the budget just for a few differences.
I wish they had a Lionmaster Mohawk that can take O42 curves. Especially the one based off the 3001.
Hi Mike thanks for bringing the lion master line to my attention I preordered the red one can’t wait great comparison video 😃🚂👍
I think you’re going to love it! I ordered the same one 👍
i have o-36 curves so i'm going with lionmaster the pacemaker or halloween hudson would be my pick
I’m pretty sure the scale Hudson can navigate o48 which is the next size up

There’s no fault enjoying both where things started and where things are going.
Can’t wait to see how this turns out!

What a great engine!! Good call 👍
Love the Hudson’s as always ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
As a person who owns 7 lionel hudsons and about to own an 8th soon I can comfortably say I got enough hudsons :D
Haha yes you’re set for life!
Cool video! Great comparison, and I think in this respect it’s a toss up and both models are justified in their own respect. RTT out!
I was happy to find that both are great options that will excel with certain needs for different types of collections.
Normally not into buying brand new trains but I’m considering just for the 125th anniversary aspect. That and the Hudson is one of my favorite

I have an original 700E that runs just as well as it did new with the original cars.
That’s amazing! I’ve never seen one of those in person.
I’m in the garage sale / eBay fix up club sorry I buy my trains from cash not credit card
No need to apologize. It’s all trains, it’s all good. 👍

Being a S scale guy, personally I thought American Flyer’s Hudson looked better than Lionel.
Amen!! Is that originally a Lionel design or did another company do it and now they produce it?

Both versions are a bit too rich for my blood. Lionel and MTH's "Baby Huds" are champion units for the money.

🤩 a beauty for sure!

The irony of this statement is that Lionel pioneered sounds and remote control capabilities long before HO did.
