    An alternate history scenario, asking what would happen if Prussia never existed? It is a continuation of my "what if the Ottomans were expelled from Europe early timeline.
    I accidentally called the Battle of Vienna (1683) the Siege of Vienna (1529).

    Did a lot of experimentation in this video, but it was a worthwhile project for me. I'd appreciate feedback on the mapping, video editing, thumbnail, voice etc. Also feel free to give ideas for future videos.

      I absolutely love the new map style, keep it up, a definite upgrade to the old one you used. Your voice was more clear and wasn't monotone so that's an improvement. Thumbnail tho could use some work, loved your old thunbnails where there was actual stuff instead of just a flag over a map.
      Never leave your editing style, it makes your work yours and it is entertaining.
      As for future videos, perhaps what if there was no turkic nor tatar people (Iranian central Asia, buffed Byzantium, how different would it affect the eastern Slavs without Mongols and their relatives having power over them for so long, etc, etc)

    The Austrian Empire wouldnt exist with the Ottomans expelled from Europe. The only reason Austria inhereted Bohemia and Hungary was because their king, Louis II. Jagiellon, died in the Battle of Mohacs.

    • @HistorysInfluence
      @HistorysInfluence  Рік тому +1

      That isn't necessarily the case, Duke/King Ladislaus had ruled over all 3 countries until 1457, although he only lived to be 17. The reason the Austrians did not hold onto Hungary actually seems to be that the Ottomans Whilst this is of course after the 1444 Ottoman expulsion time I gave, I don't believe the precedence would necessarily go away for these countries uniting. There are issues however, such as John Hunyadi's influence in Hungary. Also I think you are probably right on the overall point that it point that it wouldn't be too likely.

    If Huguenots don’t leave France, could that mean the Industrial Revolution doesn’t take place in England?
    A France that is a refuge place for protestants and bright reformers could take away the human capital escaped to Britain in our timeline.

    • @bakirkoyeminonu
      @bakirkoyeminonu Рік тому

      Hugenots and protestants of all kinds revitalized trade and brought in social changes in Britain. These transformed and enriched the country, made London a financial center, opened up the possibility of philosophical developments such as tolerance and personal liberty, etc

    • @HistorysInfluence
      @HistorysInfluence  Рік тому +1

      It's a great point you raise. I'd say more likely it would delay the Industrial Revolution rather than prevent it, the Protestant world view, work ethic etc. was already ever-present in Britain, so it wasn't like the Huguenots were the source for all of that development (not saying you're saying that). Forgot if I mentioned this in the script, but I believe France isn't a very coal-dense location, meaning that it probably still won't be the source of the industrial revolution.
      This is a point that Whatifalthist used to mention a lot, but France was incredibly populous in the middle ages compared to the rest of Europe, but since the Industrial Revolution it has lost such a competitive edge. This may be a bit of a stretch, and I'm not really knowledgeable enough on this topic to say, but perhaps due to these incentives a Protestant France would actually reject such advancements themselves.

    Love your videos! But as a Swede I have some few objections. The area of Norway (Aka trondelag) was only supposed to be under swedish control for a decade before being returned to Norway. It wasn´t a permanent province. Already by the great northern war it was back in Norway/Danish control.
    Also once Sweden lost control over it´s Livonian holdings and no longer shared a border with Poland they would become natural allies against Russia. Possibly forming some dynastic ties as happened previous in history with Sigismund. Which will limit Russia's success as being a great power and help sweden regain some control over Estonia and Nöteborg/St petersburg. While poland would get Goldingen and maybe Riga. So I do think you should retcon some of the Russian stuff, at least surrounding the Baltic region.
    Otherwise I love this scenario.

    Ok after actually finishing the video i can confirm my previouse comment, it's great.
    My sole gripe is that Sweden being able to hold such a vast portion of germany due to "shared german heratige and shared faith" seems a bit optimistic. Id assume it would create some sort of nationalistic wave leading to some tiny pan german state. (NOTE IM SLEEP DEPRIVED SO IGNORE THIS IF IT MAKES NO SENSE)

    • @HistorysInfluence
      @HistorysInfluence  Рік тому

      I get what you mean. I'd say the snowball effect of Swedish power may overcome such a movement. With Austria being so dominant in Southern Germany and no Prussian Equivalent I'm not sure the Northern Germans would muster the strength needed to resist Swedish domination. Although the "shared heritage point" is a bit weak in hindsight.

    Good video, though I think you overlooked something. Without Prussia to balance the power of Europe, the British would have to be involved more in central Europe. In this timeline, instead of leaving Hanover happily, Britain would try their best keeping Hanover from falling into other powers of Europe, thus making Hanover and the British reign more aligned and Hanover more liberal, since they knew they would be eaten alive after being left by the British, so they had to accept some reforms from Britain. Instead of France being antagonized because of the revolution or Napoleon, it would be Britain due to the slowly, but progressive liberal reforms that went against the other Monarchs. Though unlike France, it wouldn't create wars, as Britain didn't like "French style" revolution and destroying the balance of power, so there wouldn't be a "1 vs everyone from Europe" for the British.
    Russia wouldn't be feared and respected much in this timeline compared to the original timeline, maybe they didn't even considered by some to be European. With Poland standing right before Russia, they might focus more in the far East and centrl Asian. Less fighting against Russia actually make the Ottoman empire having a better time to live without the "Othodox protector" from Russia to their holding in the Balkan, while Austria was too busy in central Europe.

    • @HistorysInfluence
      @HistorysInfluence  Рік тому +1

      I neglected to mention the UK, that's a good point. Assuming the personal union with Hannover takes place, Britain could be another vulture alongside the Austrians and Swedish intent on dominating Germany, leading to constant mainland warfare for the Brits. However, it could be argued that due to the legacy of the Hundred Years War, the UK would abandon Hannover after an extended period of fighting, preferring to be isolationist like what happened historically.

    • @vaninhhuu3215
      @vaninhhuu3215 Рік тому

      @@HistorysInfluence yes, if they could make sure Hanover's independence from others (or at least Hanover could stand alone without being used against the British). Austria and Sweden weren't a problem as Austria prefer soft power and Sweden didn't have enough strength to hold it for long. The other German states were too weak to invade Hanover. France on the other hand was the main proplem. As the strongest power in Europe, they would pretty sure trying to gain more power to interfere the German's politic. This even easier if Louis XVI still married Marie of Habsburg and strengthed their relation with Austria. Surely the British never even wanted France to gain new access to the Celtic, North sea to threaten their literal existent. Also having Hanover could protect the United Provinces's back from potential attacks (I know the UP and the UK didn't have the best relationship, but the UK want an independence UP rather than a French pupet here)
      Of course Britain could just leave Hanover if the cons was more than the pros (or if Hanover tried to get away from Britain by using inherent laws) and instead focus more on their colonies outside of Europe, but I don't think the British would leave something critical to their main land without a "fall-safe" plan.

    1. Britain would have interfered with the french annexing major german land, since the resourceful territories held major strategic value and thus shift the power to france. Therefore France would remain similar.
    2. Oversea territories are harder to maintain and northern germans shared a common hatred due to Swedish brutality, would make coalitions against the Swedish highly likely. Even Denmark 🇩🇰would gladly use the opportunity. No protestantism or ethnonationalism is gonna change that. To the east Sweden would experience Russian attempt to annex the baltic and Finland .
    3. Austria could annex parts of Germany and the balkan, but that would lead to internal conflicts and thus their fall.

      @@HistorysInfluence Yeah sure, I think that it's either the way you present the things you say without enough explanations for why they happen and how and when which makes me feel like they are made up for no reasoning behind it. Or, it is simply not enough knowlegde around the subject, but both of those are not easy so still congrats on the editing and map making. Maybe as an exercise you should try doing an entire video (writing, researching etc...) without mapping at all until the very end, because I feel you rely on the maps too much to do the scenarios, try adding more imagery, graphs and sound to make your videos more dynamic but I guess what really matters is the quality of the scenario scenario, and scenarios from the middle ages are super hard to do. If you want to know things deeper you should def read lots of books for your vids!

      @@cameroonemperor755 Thank you for the congrats on the editing etc. I think you have a strong point here. My main concern on this video was I didn't know enough about Prussia and those dynamics. I sort of finished the script despite that, redid it a bit, and left it there, without critically thinking about why the things I decided would happen would happen.
      What I do on my videos is just do the script first, for this one I planned a lot of maps in it. But I don't think I gave it the attention/research it deserved, in this video at least. I think the more holistic approach your outlining could add a lot to the videos. Would you say the script on this one is subpar compared to previous videos, or is it about the same as usual? If you can remember lol.
      The book-reading is a good point, I think it will take a while for those results to show in videos though simply because of the time it takes to read books. Whatifalthist's old videos relied upon his reading and the results were amazing of course.

      to be more precise, I disagree wiht some points in your video, one being that if sweden ever came close to taking this much of germany, especially litteraly annexing brandenbourg AND saxony, it would definetly lead to a major european war. If brandenbourg and saxony keep challengin each other, austria and france would always intervene to profit from it, therefore sweden coming in and annexing them would destoy the region's power dynamic, and since there was no napoleonic wars (Which I think would realistically still happen) europe would still be very ready to fight each others over nothing, so sweden would get to be the one that europe fights against instead of france. also probably that's around the time where france would be looking for the natural borders, so guess it makes sense but sweden would not be able to fights both austria and france in germany.
      I would see sweden agreeing to a free saxonny and have a protectorate/vassal over brandenbourg
