  • Launch of "Gender equality and diversity in Indonesia: identifying progress and challenges" hosted by LPEM FEB UI and ANU Indonesia Project, with the support of Ministry of Finance RI.
The book is launched by Dr Titik Anas on behalf of Her Excellency Dr Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister of Finance of Indonesia. Introductions and remarks were delivered by Chaikal Nuryakin (LPEM FEB UI) and Her Excellency Penny Williams PSM (Australian Ambassador to Indonesia).
Editors Angie Bexley (Program KONEKSI) and Diahhadi Setyonaluri (Universitas Indonesia) and author Andy Yentriyani (KOMNAS Perempuan) provided an overview of the book and its contents, and Ninuk Mardiana Pambudy (Kompas) will discuss the book's contributions to the policy discourse on gender issues in Indonesia.
This book is based on papers delivered at the 39th Indonesia Update conference convened in 2022 by Angie Bexley, Sarah Dong and Diahhadi Setyonaluri at The Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. It explores how gender relations have been shaped by historical forces such as Reformasi, decentralisation and economic transformation. Spanning topics such as the effects of democratisation, Islamic movements, gender identity and public space, the economic impact of digitisation and the growing middle class, legal reforms, visual arts movements and more, it is a comprehensive review of gender relations in Indonesia over the past twenty years.
