I firmly believe that Ladd arguably is the best talker ever. When he talked, that booming voice of his made you believe he could and would back up everything he was saying, and who would argue, considering his size. He was also very funny, which only adds to his appeal on the mic.
Leave Dusty Rhodes out of the mix a moment. The only two guys on all of Seventies TV who cut better promos in character than Mr. Ernie Ladd were Carroll O'Connor and Redd Foxx!B.W.
@@Ted_Bell Rhodes was a phony. His wanna-be black thing was unique, bizarre and aggravating. Besides that, Ladd was a real athlete (albeit missing his knees by this time) and Rhodes was a doughboy. I never bought that guy.
