Totally agree. I have to do my videos in the am hours because of health challenges of one of my sons (leukemia treatment). Productivity is a whole new ballgame these days.
THIS IS EVERYTHING!! I’m here after consuming Hormozi’s content for about a month solid (8+ hours a day / 6 days a week… I have the ability to listen all day while I work). I have learned a great deal from the content and I’ll continue to listen and absorb everything I can. And although I do agree with “just working harder”, “doing more volume”, and becoming the exception to normalcy. Ryan is making a point that I just needed to hear from someone else. I have a 2yo and one on the way. Working a 40hour work week and then Putting in an extra 4 every night trying to build a business…and lord knows on the weekends is crazy…a 90 hour work week is bonkers. It’s just nice to hear that I can work hard, succeed, and not have to kill myself to do it. Im still someone’s w2 at the moment, but I’ve been priming for 15 years; the next season is here. I’m afraid to take the leap though.
I'm so glad my video resonated with you. It's just a different animal when you have kids. Find that leverage. Listening while you work is fine, but now it's time to put it into action. No need to take a "leap". It's not all-or-none. That's a lot of pressure to put on yourself. Just focus on creating TRAFFIC. Even if you have just 20 minutes a day, do something to connect with others and create awareness.
@ thanks Ryan, I appreciate your response and encouragement more than you’ll ever know. I’ve come up against the towering presence of ENTREPRENEUR time and time again in life. Each time I’ve either listened to the advice of someone telling me not to do it, or I rationalized taking the safest path instead. This has created a real dissonance for me, as I’m very much an against the grain, make your own path and leave a trail kinda guy. I’ll be listening to more and more of your content. You sound like you’re in Jersey, maybe we’ll meet sometime. Thanks again!
@theryanlee it works too. I’ve certainly been sucked in before reminding myself that I’m beyond that now (been there done that). I started my business from scratch in 2013 with 3 kids. The guilt was crushing and counter productive. But you know what was worse? Telling my wife I only made $500 from business. I put my family in a bad situation. Talk about feeling like a shitty dad and husband - there is no worse feeling). A happy ending though. 11 years self employed last July.
I have three kids. Been working 60-ish+ hours a week for as long as i remember, no vacations or anything. I approve this video soooo much! The reason why im working so hard is to learn to be efficient to be able to spend more time with kids until its too late, while having enough money to provide for the family. Been travelling wth my family - when we walk together i can stop and have a call for an hour (in the middle of the street) etc. :) Trying to dedicate at least an hour to them daily.
Yessss finally a content creator that takes into account having kids and wanting to actually be present and raise them. I’m also sick of the advice that says if you are serious, stay up (essentially burn yourself out) to become successful. I’ve subscribed and I look forward to checking out your other content
It's so great to see so many comments like yours. Clearly, this is needed and I'm here to serve. Thank you for subscribing and hold on.. it's going to be a fun ride!
so true man, it’s a whole different ball game when you have kids it’s not just a time issue, but you also have a whole different timeline and priorities! By the way, your sound is cutting in and out
Brilliant Ryan. So glad the algo served you up this morning. I'm also in this niche of inspiring GenX moving into Act II. Or III. We are perfectly positioned to thrive in the digital economy. And the prod bros don't always give us the best advice (as much as I love Hormozi and Koe and they got me off my couch). Awesome, simple framework for real people with lives.
Great video as building a business with kids is like playing a game on harder settings compared to others who don't due to the amount of extra time they have
Hustle culture is a religion elevating the growth at all costs philosophy. The religious rhetoric: Got a family? They'll understand. They'll wait around for you. They'll thank you for the stuff. They'll always know that ypur absence means you care. Until they don't. Growth at all costs is VERY COSTLY! Hustle at your own risk.
Awesome vid Ryan. Dang mic was cutting in and out. That might be one of the most frustrating things that happens to content creators. Lol. I did a whole video where my mic was off one time 😂🔫
Can't agree more: don't take advice from people who aren't trying to do what you're trying to do (which includes raise kids but also include: having your own interests. Whether or not you have kids, keep your own interests!!)
Now I know my phone is listening to me. Today, I said out loud, "I'm not taking advice from someone who doesn't have kids." I also said, "I'm not taking advice from people who dont want to create opportunities for others."
Ryan, the glitches actually make the video more relatable and cause you to come across as a regular guy doing great things. Bro, it's a free instructional video on a social media platform, not a multi-million dollar Hollywood movie. One take productions are fine...
I feel like you are misunderstanding at least Dan a bit (I do not watch Hormozi enough because he just isn't my style). Most of Koe's stuff to me is mainly philosophical principles and I would not put him anywhere close to the mindset of Hormozi who from the little I have seen wants to work as much as possible because that is what he loves. Some one similar (who I know does have kids) is someone like Dan Martell. Martell says a lot of the same things, but has a bitt less of the hustle culture mentality compared to Hormozi (but still more than Koe). I agree with your overall principle about things being different for parents. I just wouldn't put Hormozi and Koe anywhere near the same camp.
Yup, I hear you about Dan. And I agree... I wouldn't call his stuff "hustle". I respect what they've all built. My video is more about taking any "productivity" advice from people without kids and since a few subscribers have asked my opinion of Dan Koe--I added him to the video.
TRUTH! and SIMPLY! This is actually only my second video from him but it won't be my last. I don't know how I managed to get him today but it was exactly what I needed to hear. He is absolutely right taking advice about the organization of your day or week when you don't have children is absolutely different. This is refreshing and so many people need to hear it. Then he talks about single parents and you have a whole other element of time adjustments. Now if you add a family member who's disabled also completely different. I really like his heart as he wasn't saying anything negative about others just that organizing a day for someone with kids is different than organizing a day when you don't have kids. Then we talk about poverty level. Some people have the ability to have nannies. I just love this video and I hope that all the people who need to hear it find it. Thank you for the truth. It is so refreshing brand I think that's what I was supposed to type? I would love to get on your list.
So... having a video that recommends people with kids should take advice from people without kids with a grain of salt. And then, outlines an actual, usable 3-step productivity system for busy parents... ...this is all "contrarian"?
If you're a fellow parent and feeling this one, I'd love to hear your comments below!
We can build a business AROUND our family and lifetyle.

I'm so sorry to hear about your son. Wishing him a full and speedy recovery 🙏

This is exactly what people need. More family friendly business advice. You dont just grow a business, you have a growing family too.
I'm going to try and help as best I can!
I’ve been thinking the exact same thing for the past few years as I’ve watched these guys.
It seems to have gotten worse.
Overall, lots of "young" hustle-types making people feel guilty if they aren't constantly working on their business.
@theryanlee it works too. I’ve certainly been sucked in before reminding myself that I’m beyond that now (been there done that). I started my business from scratch in 2013 with 3 kids. The guilt was crushing and counter productive.

Great analogy!
Hustle culture is a religion elevating the growth at all costs philosophy.

Kiddies first and fit the business stuff in when you can. I'm glad you liked the video. More to come...

But glad you liked the video (at least, what you could hear of it!)
So true! With kids, it's a totally different game.
Absolutely. Completely different game.
I would remove the noise gate on your audio. Thank you for posting.
I know.. the noise was an issue on this.
Well said. If you don’t have kids don’t give me productivity advice
They can give it... I just take it all with a grain of salt.

Honestly, this video was just a principle of branding. You’re basically being contrarian here and more people flock to that.

Not sure they're out of touch with reality... I think we just have a different reality (especially as a parent).
