This was a sweet little Daddy-daughter skating duet, but I wish the camera had been more on THEM than on the singer, whoever she was. I would have liked to seen more of Viktor and his daughter, but I feel like the camera was on the singer half the time! In fact, this would have been better WITHOUT having a singer on stage to begin with!
I wonder why these Russians all settled in the U.S. at the end? Was it that bad in Russia, in the Ukraine that they couldn't stay there? They all relocated to the U.S.
Ukraine had won independence only recently when Petrenko had emigrated after his win in '92. It would be a good move as he would be able to earn more, tour more, and make stronger connections as a coach. Galina, his mother-in-law, was able to work as a coach here in the States for much longer and more successfully. Petrenko now skates in Russian theater-on-ice shows like "The Scarlet Flower". Some of the more recent people emigrating might be leaving because of the "decency" laws.
Several reasons but you should know that life in those nations was not easy and democratic. Plus Usa loves to have Champions and famous people (not "mexicans" ....) from other nations choosing Usa

Viktor and Victoria did such a great performance together. Such a sweet father-daughter routine. Talent runs in the family.
Victor Petrenko and his whole family really are frequently helping out in the community - really nice people.

@@maurascafati1987 The U.S sucks. Bad choice to move here. Not a place to raise healthy children. People raising children should care about "decency."
