Man i remember watching this about 2 years ago, this made me want to start playing guitar. It was the best tone and guitar ive ever seen/heard. Still rate it best solo ever! Long live eric clapton!
Eric was on form that night... I've never seen anyone put so much passion into the solos as he did... Maybe it was because of the good cause... It will be a very sad day for me when he's gone... To me, God IS Clapton...
@@nizzcryptocity6991 dont humanize god and don t divinize humans give everyone his duty and clapton is my favourite guitarist and i listen to all of them (chuck berry, hendrix, stevie ray vaughan, alvert lee, bb king etc etc )
the best thing about clapton is, he doesnt give it out all at one times. this solo is a roller coaster. just when it feels like hes gonna rock it, he pulls it back , just building it up to be even more awesome. he has that unique style in his solos
No doubt about it - one of the greatest - or absolutely the greatest guitar player ?! He does`nt play the guitar - he IS the guitar !!!!!! Dietmar from Dresden / Germany
Wish people wouldn't cut off the audience response at the end of performances like this-it's part of the experience!!! I'm pretty sure Bob Marley heard you on this one, Eric!
If you get the chance to see him on this current tour with Doyle and Dereck.. DO IT. Spend the money, and do it. He is playing better than ever and is pulling solos like this out of his hat every night. Just an incredible performance to see live.
Clapton is called Slowhand because whenever he broke a string, he immediately changed it or a new one. In the meanwhile, the audience would start clapping at a slow tempo until he was finished changing the string. After that, he would just continue playing like nothing happened. Like a god
people say jimi hendrix is the best guitar player in the world and he is pretty much up there but eric clapton has that thing that nobody else has he feels what he is playing he breaths it he lives it he lives in a constant state of greatness he is the best that there has ever been and there will ever be just listen to while my guitar gently weeps or layla or crossroads and you will see how great he is long live eric clapton.......CLAPTON IS GOD
@mattfirevai it is improvised. every time he does this song he plays it differently. u caint remember all thos notes. he just feels the song and makes great solos off the top of his head, and can make it fit any song. thats why hes the best
I remember when i go this DVD as a gift and saw this solo for the first time....i went back and watched it about 5 more times before going onto the next track (which has a solo just as great!)
Now there is no Question about Eric playing fast!! But Also very Clean...this man's Guitar playing is superb!! And can match anyone of the hot shot guitarist of today!!!
ha ha i've (on my guitar) almost mastered this solo... but i still dont have close to the smoothness as clapton... it will take years to get that smooth... but yea i've listened to this over 150 times. he was amazing at the excel energy center U.S kickoff for 2006 thats where i saw him... AMAZING!
@Elgigante21 Hendrix and Clapton are musicians, not some fake actors in Raw or Smackdown... They don't challenge each other and kill each other on stage... they play music. :D
03-05 were his last best years. 94/95 he was at his peak during the nothing but the blues tour. probably the best guitar playin you'll ever hear during '94 and '95
I've played the guitar for 6 years now, and you are right, there is no special virtuoso techniques in this, or any other of his solos (there were some when he was younger). This is exactly the point. He doesn't go home and practice so that he can impress the watchers. He goes home and practices because he enjoys the sound. One which does the former is not a musician. He/she is just an entertainer.
the pickups are vintage noiseless, so he doesnt get that buzzing single coils often get. As for strings i *think* its just a set of ernie ball 9's. He halso has a 25 db mid-range booster on his guitar which lets him go form strat sound to les paul sound
He made this up on the spot! Eyes closed, doesn't even need to look. People say the minor pentatonic blues scale is easy, which it is. But how many people can take the easiest guitar scale and turn it into...THIS
you know their a good guitarist when any one note can make you stand there in awe... I saw bb king live and hearing him play live is incredible compared to hearing his recordings. every note literally vibrates the theater and its power just blasts through you
though clapton dosen't have much stage presents. (meaning he just stands around when playing) he makes up for it by playing solos that can make people cry on contact. love the build up and the shred
@deastinator I don't think he uses effects in this song maybe reverb and i'm not sure, his sound is beautiful i know and i think he uses his Fender Twin or a Jcm 800.
I've probably listened to this about 400 times in my life. 200 being in the past day. Those are estimations, probably lower than reality. I was caught up to the third heaven with the angelic harp-likeness of his riff around 1:00.
I COME HERE ONCE IN A WHILE TO NURTURE MY SOUL ERIC IS TH BEST BLUES PLAYER IN THE HISTORY OF BLUES
This is one of the best performances ever.
i've seen this solo almost literally 100 times. i'm still blown away by it.
i'm always going to be blown away by this
He is not human, feeling improvising is amazing !!!

one of his best guitar solos ...
Can NEVER get bored while watching this clip. LIVING LEGEND!!!
best solo of all time by anyone
Eric Clapton is one of the best musicians of our time. Thats all that matters.
The Art on action called Eric Clapton. The best guitarrist ever.
look at his face man, straight from the heart. arguably the best guitarist alive
I will never get tired of watching this. It's pure class.
His playing is so melodic, lyrical, noone can play like this.
So true 👍
if i was to ever want to know ONE solo..id have to say it would be this one...Tone, Phrasing, everything.....Amazing solo
May or may not be the greatest solo ever, but certainly is among the memorable ones...any solo that has this much feeling in it ought to be great.
I have been watching this same video over and over again for the past few weeks.
No doubt about it - one of the greatest - or absolutely the greatest guitar player ?! He does`nt play the guitar - he IS the guitar !!!!!!
Dietmar from Dresden / Germany
When Clapton plays solos like this God is listening and enjoying ... masterpiece
My Man Eric Clapton what can I say? Fast and clean! Just my favorite guitar player ever!!!
So awesome Clapton sounds so good fast and clean not a bad note!!
Wish people wouldn't cut off the audience response at the end of performances like this-it's part of the experience!!! I'm pretty sure Bob Marley heard you on this one, Eric!
2:36.......gets me way too excited
Sean McMullen me too

the best ever, period.
I don't get people who say Eric Clapton is overrated... This and he is amazing!!!
THE best solo. PERIOD
Monster player!
His dynamics and expressions are on point!
Hard to get right and overly looked by a lot of guitarists
eargasm

beautiful, the greatest
love how hes just jamming making it look so easy, yet sounding so complicated! i listen to this so much

Oh mon Dieu !
J'ai pas d'autres mots pour décrire ceci.
Oh my God !
I haven't got others words to describe this.
Thanks a lot.
Steve gadd drumming like a boss
This just made my day, my week, my month, my year and my life
claptons brilliant. i'm going to see him at the 02 in february. it will be brilliant.
that drummer was amazing
Look at his spirit man !!!
That's Steve Gadd cause
Yes he is💃
I remember when i go this DVD as a gift and saw this solo for the first time....i went back and watched it about 5 more times before going onto the next track (which has a solo just as great!)
god that was the sickest solo ever!!! i got goosebumps!!
I recorded the sheriff solo recently in Detroit. Awesome guitar playing! Thanks for posting Paj
The best guitar solo ever heard
yah that was badass
Just WONDERFUL !!!
one of his best solos imo.
Now there is no Question about Eric playing fast!! But Also very Clean...this man's Guitar playing is superb!! And can match anyone of the hot shot guitarist of today!!!
I love Claptons' look, If you saw him on the street you would think he is a teacher or just some regular guy.
unglaublich ....... sooo geil!...hören und staunen
To me this is Clapton's best solo ever. And Steve Gadd is the best drummer ever.
Its all about the feeling, and there's tons of it in this solo.
Drummers name is Steve Gadd!
i get the chills and goosebumps EVERY freaking time i listen to this.
pure genius, love it.

Génial
@Elgigante21 Hendrix and Clapton are musicians, not some fake actors in Raw or Smackdown...
They don't challenge each other and kill each other on stage... they play music. :D
It's an album by Clapton which contained three fairly popular singles.
Words fail...that solo is nothing short of incredible.
Best solo ever!
I love how it crescendos.
Gorgeous perfect solo, but got cut short!
how can a person always play a great solo any time any where
STUNNING !!!!!!
Look at the drumer , he is old but his spirit is ten times younger than me . Imagine him as being your grandpa .
even if you could - you can't create something as good as this.
Nathan East played with Clapton from 1985 to sometime around 2005 i think, his current bass player is called: Willie Weeks
Magnificent!!!! Unique guitar too:)
Grandma mary
Bravo!!!
03-05 were his last best years. 94/95 he was at his peak during the nothing but the blues tour. probably the best guitar playin you'll ever hear during '94 and '95
i dont know if hendrix is better but this old love and confortable numb guitar solos are the best i ve ever listen to
Wow...Clapton's tone is amazing. His phrasing is better than anyone else's who is alive today, too. I gotta pick my guitar up and try this one out.

how in the hell can 13 people dislike this godly solo???

love the build up and the shred
Kneel Before Eric !!!!!!!!!
I sat down on my guitar last night and thought.. why am I not better than Eric Clapton yet? then I saw this video and realized why!
amazing..truly a legend.
Worlds top three guitarists in my opinion:
1 Eric Clapton
2 Mark Knopfler (DIRE STRAITS)
3 Jonny Greenwood (RADIOHEAD)
Plese reply on your choices.
@deastinator I don't think he uses effects in this song maybe reverb and i'm not sure, his sound is beautiful i know and i think he uses his Fender Twin or a Jcm 800.
Fucking amazing shit, no matter what the guitar looks like, no matter how old he is, the man is shredding blues.
I've probably listened to this about 400 times in my life. 200 being in the past day. Those are estimations, probably lower than reality. I was caught up to the third heaven with the angelic harp-likeness of his riff around 1:00.
