    Well, being someone who is big into camping I can absolutely confirm that this is not the smallest bbq and on top of that it's bloody fiddly. I much prefer the flatpack folding style stoves, available in stainless and titanium, the latter being extremely light, which I doubt the one in this video is, they also include a grill to put on top most of the time, they are maximum 1cm thick when "flatpacked" and have a bigger grill area.

    I don't know if it technically counts but I made a pocket stove from a UA-cam tutorial once using an Altoids tin and it basically works like a BBQ, can burn anything that fits and can have a griddle added like a BBQ has although I only went as far as pot supports, cooked an egg and boiled maybe half a litre of water in a minute or so.
    Altoids are a pain to get now but Marks and Spencer do an own brand version and the tins pretty much the same dimensions if you want to try it.

    Thats actually surprisingly a fairly good product.
    I don't know about cooking corn on it but if you're cooking hot dogs/sausages on it you can get several hot dogs for like a family picnic where you don't want to carry too much stuff.
    But for a single person it would cook a nice sized steak. Although a bigger t-bone might not fit. It would certainly be good for someone without much space.

  • @jdhiv4

    You have "MATCHLIGHT", Which means it's got chemicals in it to burn from just barely having a match to light it and you need to let those chemicals go away and burn off before you put food over it

  • @gnawtsatyr8865
    @gnawtsatyr8865 Місяць тому

    You're supposed to cook the foil wrapped stuff while the flames are hot and new so they start steaming and set them to the side when the heat dies down to cook your meat. Or start your water boiling for tea or coffee while the flames are hot so you don't waste any heat while you're waiting for the right temp to cook anything unwrapped by the protective casing of foil. There's nothing wrong with adding more bits of wood or coal during cooking but I think the entire ignition process could be better utilized for high temp applications in a survival/camping scenario when resources may be limited and time can be more usefully consolidated.

    I had a small bbq twice this year inbetween the rain in may and then I needed extra kindling and a handheld fan to get it going properly, the weather has been gruesome for the tomatoes and chillis too and the courgettes have gone a bit funny, it's like they were producing and then stopped some of them half way when we had overcast and rain for over a month and couldn't continue them with the skin shrivelling and so all but 1 abandoned growth and started new fruit instead

    I love a good BBQ! So does this mean there will be more BBQ recipes in the future? I like to use my little BBQ grill as a smoker too. Gives food a good flavor. I made a pork shoulder in my instant pot today and tomorrow I will take some of the leftovers put them in an aluminum tray and give it some Mesquite smoke. Then make a couple of pulled pork sandwiches and for the rest of the meat, I will make a bunch of green chili pork tamales. So delicious! If you ever want to learn to make tamales I learned from a UA-camr Whipperwillowhollow and her tamale recipe is amazing and she explains her techniques very well! I love that little BBQ grill! ❤

    Sometimes we get our end of the world rocket stove out to cook on. It's like a small barrel that is lined with bricks and very heavy. Your fuel is either charcoal or dry twigs, Which can be fed continiously without taking BBQ apart. You can cook with a cast iron pot or frypan on it or my favorite is to use an old cast iron grill plate from a gas stove and BBQ on it and I even have an old domed metal lid. Thing is heavy though. What you have is good for a back packer. You should try it with a small frypan or pot.

    I just finished watching another UA-camr setting up for a thousand-person barbecue on their new resort in Texas (if you know, you know) and by contrast the one-person barbecue looks a bit sad, but practically speaking it’s a great thing for home use for a single person or no-kids household. No doubt that with some practice you could cook two burgers at once, several sausages, or two smallish steaks together.
    I was a little concerned that it was going to warp or fall apart but it seems to be well constructed and just fine for camping or a day at the seashore.
    I’m with those looking forward to the pizza oven video(s?). I don’t remember if you explained why it takes both wood and gas- at the same time or as options?

    When you mentioned the booklet and said some of it were in french, I at once thought of Le Grill and could se you destroying most of the booklet except the french section

    I have the next size up from this and we can feed 4 adults on it. Tatts go in the coals whilst 4-6 burgers can cook on the top

    My husband takes his briefcase/attaché case to work everyday so yes in some cases it still very much a thing. And he looks silly on dress down Fridays when he wears shorts and sandals.
