Alone with her guitar and washed in a warm, orange glow, Mitski delivers dynamic performances that explore a range of texture and tone. In ‘My Body Is Made Of Crushed Little Stars’, she sings of youthful restlessness while her guitar roars with energy and ferocity. In contrast, her words of somber sympathy in ‘I Bet On Losing Dogs’ ring most true atop her delicate finger-picked guitar playing.
In these sessions, Mitski’s voice and guitar come together to create singular, evocative moments that linger in the mind. To best capture these moments, we rely on the simple, but effective combination of the near-field N22 and far-field, stereo R88.
Both Mitski’s vocal and guitar cab are recorded by the near-field NUVO N22, while the stereo R88 records the room. All tracks are without equalization or compression and the reverb is provided by a plate reverb unit.

Mitski is just the embodiment of uncontrolled emotional power. She plays hard and fast but it's simple chords and you can hear the strings buzz. She has a powerful voice but she veers off key and sometimes ends up crying her vocals more than she sings them. She's unrefined and she captures the room without any back and it's amazing to watch.

I would argue she is controlled even in her most uncontrolled moments. She is an artist, which means when she does have unrefined raw passion, it is still very purposeful. One of the greatest artists of our generation.
@@Edible_Kittens an artists job is to take that unrefined rawness inside of them and refine it. They carve it into something beautiful: their art. And that takes a lot of patience, effort and skill.
“Please kill me” the way mitski said that line felt like utter desperation more than any other lines. It feels like that desperation where all u have to rely on is that thing other wise u r totally fucked. Like u have no other choice, infact it’s not even a choice.
