One of most endearing things about The Small Faces is they never took themselves too seriously. They were always having a laugh and left the pretentious stuff to other bands of the time.... And yet they still came out with some iconic 60s gems. One of my favourites.

@Stinkeye Jones yeah lets jump into the time machine and head back there, as kids playing hide and seek in people's back gardens, gate hole football in the street, taking off with your mates on a Sunday morning to the woods making a rope swing and coming back only when you got hungry, and not a penny in sight.

I was about 14 years when the Small Faces gave a concert at the "Vestlandhalle" at Recklinghausen, Germany. After an overwhelming performance they had some water spread all over them just to cool down and to refresh themselves a little. Some of the water drops reached the audience, among others some young beauties. They where out of their mind and at those spots, where a water drop had hit their skin they drawed small hearts with a pen directly on their skin. Incredible to imagine that most of those beautiful young ones now are grand mams.
Glenn Johnson One of the best 60`s songs of all time.I even remember my dad watching the Faces on TOTP`s performing this and his feet were tapping away like mad.He was 40 then and when he reached 80,told me how good the 60`s music was.Say`s something doesn`t it.A great video too.A million thanks.
@@doctorbohr1585 Well Joe Cherubin remembers being at a Small Faces gig in 1970 so he couldn't have been at it if there was one (as opposed to a Faces gig with Rod and Ronnie).
This was one of the songs played endlessly on the radio when I was a kid, and as a result it is imprinted indelibly on my memory. A wonderfully whimsical, dreamy tune!
That's amazing pal. I remember seeing Dear Enemy when I lived in Melbourne in the early 80's along with virtually every other aussie band at the time !! The local rock scene back then was absolutely amazing and many of the bands are still going now !!
For me they're the most under rated bands of the 60s. They were having a laugh and never took themselves seriously like other bands of the time. Irreverant and fun lyrics with a joyful sound. Love always to The Small Faces.

At the time I was sent to Scotland this was the first song I heard on the radio. Never had heard it before. Thought it was so amazing. Wish I could re live those times. Take note of the band members, and after careers.
This is so reminiscent of its time, unmistakably raffish London style, the accents, the clothes and the subject matter all speaks of a time that's completely vanished, a great band
Ian Walton - you speak the reality! I'm born 1948 and like this old songs - this evergreen! I grow up with this music, that comes back nearly in 40 years more or less! german music like "The Scorpions" is not bad - but the english is absolutly better!

The first time I was with my parents at 8 years old on a camp with teenagers, a tribute band played this, since than It was my fav band, now I have my book All or nothing from Steve , glad Kenney is still in, 55 years afterwards I'm old school and listen to these Mod's!!!!!!!!
I graduated high school in the 90's. We all listened to music from the 60's and 70's. I still never heard of these guys until tonight. Pretty far out! I'm glad I stumbled upon this.
So good to see this great promo video...which I must have missed first time around! I've seen interviews with some of the band who regret this song was put out as a single, because it was whimsical & had a 'comedy' element to it which they thought stopped people from taking them seriously as a group. To me, it's a wonderful song that just adds to their reputation & shows how broad their creative range was.
This song, these Small Faces, mightn't have blazed the globe as did Beatles but they charged my mates and me with a spark to dance and sing along. But I wish they'd started a fire. Bravo!
I used to work with someone who remembered this song from the time and loved it as much as I. After a while, when we saw each other, all we had to say to each other was "Blimey, Mrs Jones, 'Ows your Bert's lumbago?" and we would be in tears of mutual laughter for a minute or two....
the power change in steves vocals at 1:50 shows what he was capable of....1 second taking the piss out of cockney lingo and then going into FULL vocals to express the power in his voice,,,stunning...RIP friend......peace

Most underrated and yet influential Brit 60's band ever? Superb.
+a j Carter they were never underated, they just had a thieving manager thats why Steve left
Superb song. It's one of the classics, it really is.
The first time I was with my parents at 8 years old on a camp with teenagers, a tribute band played this, since than It was my fav band, now I have my book All or nothing from Steve , glad Kenney is still in, 55 years afterwards I'm old school and listen to these Mod's!!!!!!!!
Hilarious when he comes out the front door for a tear-up and ends up gettin his neck wrung by the neighbour!! Total quality!!! 😂😂😂
That’s Mrs Jones (Kenny’s mum), I think.
To me, it's a wonderful song that just adds to their reputation & shows how broad their creative range was.
well said
" I'll sing you a song with no words or tune" echos of John Cage's 4' 33"
Great songwriting. Good humour. Songs to put a smile on your face & after 2020 we need that!!

I love The Small Faces. Amazing British group representing the era of the time. Raw, exceptional talent
awesome band steve marriott pre rod
Fantastic group great songs
I was 4 yrs of age,can remember as if it were yesterday hearing this coming from a neighbors house, wonderful memories Auckland New Zealand 2021
Great song. Great video. Thank you for uploading.
the power change in steves vocals at 1:50 shows what he was capable of....1 second taking the piss out of cockney lingo and then going into FULL vocals to express the power in his voice,,,stunning...RIP friend......peace
Just brilliant bob !
Superb
100% right, always loved that "proper" chorus.
Steve Marriott was one of the greatest Rock musicians of all time (R.I.P.), and this is one of my favorite songs.- Thanks for loading this and thanks to UA-cam for possibility, -
Steve was one of the best singers we ever produced ,such an amazing voice .
Grew up on this quality....so glad I was introduced as a child.....so fun. I'm warped, my hubby and our kids.... Happy individuals having fun feeling and sharing the love x
1 of the Greatest Bands from the U.K.
As much as Itchycoo Park is a pure gem, this one is still tussling with it in my mind for first place. Just love it, never heard on Sydney golden oldies radio station 2WS ever - shame! But I never ventured further into the albums of Small Faces.
One of the best to come out of the UK in the era
The Small Faces always looked like they were having so much fun...bless 'em. RIP Steve & Ronnie.
