  • This is my third attempt at using an A6 Hobonichi and it's sadly my third time I've realised it's just not going to work for me. Today I'm sharing my failure!

Good you found out it wasn’t for you. I know that relief & joy.
I personally am a Hobonichi girl - love the a6 for my dailies & have started a cousin as an astro journal. Love the paper.
My flip-flop was between dated and undated, oh boy have i facilitated on that! 😂
    Enjoy your bullet journal!

I'm a big Hobonichil girl too! This is just the only size I can't make work for me! I definitely prefer dated - I've always gone for the full Cousin rather than the Avec.
If you take a look at my last video - my buller journal didn't work out sadly!

I didn’t think I’d be able to handle an A6, until I got a Take A Note. The layout is the key factor-I love this particular planner! I totally agree with you in that there’s no use in forcing oneself to use a planner that just doesn’t work. I’m sure you’ll find the one that does!

Oh layout makes a world of difference! Although I know I have too much for an A6 as my full planner. I'm even thinking of ditching my B6 Take A Note in favour of my Cousin again as I feel a bit restricted with the space.

I hear that. I don’t use my A6 as my full planner but I feel like I might be able to if I added a thin notebook into my A6 Moterm. Alas-always searching for planner peace!

I love the TR paper, but try as I might, I can't make the A6 work. It's just too tiny.

It's strange because I can get it to work in a LT1917 but not the Hobonichi!

We're on the same page 😔 got a6 planner daily 2x and even bought a6 plain still didn't work for me but I still love it. It's just that I struggled a lot in catching up and I enjoyed decorating everyday but seems I didn't find it functional 😕 spent plenty of time in it than doing my task and to do list. It's also bulky in my bag. "Small bags" now I'm in passport size TN but I'm interested to try the pocket hard cover notebooks "leuchtturm" 😍

I'd love to get into doing some daily journaling and I think a regular A6 Hobo would be perfect for that. But it would definitely be for a creative outlet, rather than feeling functional. Having used both passport TN and the LT1917 A6, if you use small bags I highly recommend the LT. It's perfect.

I tried an A6 Hobo a few years back and it didn't work for me either. My writing isn't small enough (and i'm still struggling with that in my Hobo Cousin but i'm powering through because it's my work day book now). I think maybe next year I'm going to return to a Weeks for my own use and have a 'nice' notebook or a day-free for work.

Oh interesting! I've definitely had to adapt my writing over the years for Hobonichi. I use the A5 Hobo notebook for week and it's perfect. All my meetings are in my digital work calendar, so I don't need the monthlies.

I keep thinking about getting one and I know it wont work for me. My weeks is my main planner and if I didn't insist on putting it in a moterm cover it would fit in my little bag no problem. I thought about using my pocket Moleskine weeky for edc but it means updating 2 planners. I already have a cousin, hobo A6 5 year and daily pocket Moleskine for memory keeping. I think I i just need to pop the weeks in a clear cover and just carry that about (I don't go out much anyway!). Why is it so hard? 😂

I loved my weeks as an EDC for a couple of years but half my bags don't actually fit it and I don't like leaving the house without a planner. Updating two planners isn't too bad if you're particular about the plans that go in there. I don't re-write everything, just the bits that I will actually need while I'm out of the house.
In terms of why it's so hard? Because people keep posting pics and videos of pretty planners that we want!

I agree... Hobonichi is too thin. I need a thicker paper too.

For most things I love the Hobonichi paper. But for something I’m flicking between all the time I definitely need something thicker.

As a true lover of the A6 size, I wish the folks who don’t love it would just leave them on the shelf. Between the ones that sell out and the ones that get discontinued because of people going on and on on YT about them being “too small” even though they aren’t using them as a main planner, the A6 is a size that true lovers struggle to get their hands on sometimes.
Just buy the textbook A5s y’all love 😂 and leave the A6’s so I can grab one I’ll actually use without shopping in October.

Totally get that but... I actually swapped this for another A6 so it's not even the size that was the issue this time! This was all about having something I could carry round and A5 (and even a Weeks size) isn't right for me based on some of the handbags I carry.

Seems a bit harsh lol there are a lot of sizes with limited supply or decoration that sell out so most of us will have to give it a go in the fall.
