- Alice and Julius are playing on the seashore when Pete comes around, gets Julius drunk and tries to steal a crossword puzzle from Alice. Julius has to sober up to come to the rescue.

Ok, few things to point out:
This is NOT Felix the Cat, this is Alice's friend Julius Cat
This is the first ever debut of Pete, who later famously became the rival of Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and Oswald
Also well known for being second in commend under Maleficent in her heartless army.
Julius was different, he got white hands, white feets and a white stomach, but he became identical to Félix.

I knew Walt Disney went way back, but I never knew he was combining live action with cartoons. I didn't even know that even happened in 1925. What an inventive mind. I grew up in the 60's watching Disney on a black and white TV. It was so cool when my mom bought our first color tv, I suddenly got all these new friends, a couple still are my friends to this day...
Disney wasn’t the only one. In old Betty Boop and Popeyes Max Fleischer used real 3d background sets in front of which he would photograph the animation cels, and the background models were mounted on a spinning wheel to move with the action. Fleischer himself often had his cartoons coexist and act with him at his actual drawing table. Search the “Out Of The Inkwell” cartoons.Fleischer invented rotoscoping in which the animated character was traced over frames of live filmed actors, evolving a more natural looking animation.

In my english subject syllabus there is about Walt Disney. And I learnt from their that " Alice in cartoon land" was Walt Disney's first cartoon series but the first series didn't make so many splashes. I am here to watch Disney's extraordinary thought 👍👍
This is truely amazing love the animation of disney together mix with real life action of a little girl. Very adorable. Unique Alice in Wonderland mixed with Disney cartoon animations and real life action child.

I'm trying to hunt down the uncensored German version of this animated short. If anyone can help I would be greatly appreciated. The deleted segments are the end of the Bootleg Pete chase with the pelican dragging him on skis. He pulls a bottle of whiskey out of the pelican's mouth. This was removed from the American version because of prohibition laws.

Why couldn't they use a girl's voice, or at least a woman's voice?
They didn't know how to put sound in film back then Julius voice and music were added later
It was literally the 1920s, when most movies are silent. There are many attempts to include sound in movies but I guess technology at the time is probably so primitive they never went mainstream.

They're not lost, though.
Some of them are actually lost but this isn't one of them. Just because it's not streaming doesn't mean that it's lost. About 18 Alice Comedies shorts are at least partially lost.

You know for starters the alice comedies were easy to be in English and not silent thanks to some of the voice actors who voiced alice and felix aka julius and many more characters
Julius and Felix Aren't The Same guy. They just have the same design.
Sure you think that but felix and julius are the same character believe me I know felix the cat he might have kept his name but for julius I don't think the name suits felix he is one cat that will not and I repeat will not change his name for anyone

Mickey & friends x Funko Series 1 brought me here 😅. Collected the whole set and was watching the cartoon shorts the figures were made from. Pete is one of my favorites and after watching him kick Mickey and Pluto off the train I found this gem. A true classic
