  • Update: Cindy Moorman actually got back to me regarding her project: the we! She told me that the last 44 participants are the ones that we hear, and she has a tool to remove joke recordings, but that luckily doesn’t happen to often. The older recordings are archived.
Video in which I take us through some Internet art pieces I've been exploring for the past week. Internet art can be a large variety of things from a cursed website to a browser Flash game (RIP Flash) to interactive performance art through the web. Most have a nostalgic feeling to them. Some of them are silly. Some are traumatic. Which style appealed to you most, or do you think this "art form" isn't valid? Let me know in the comments below!
    Cool Links:
Reddit Forum where I found most of the Net Art examples shown in this video:

Ben Grosser Webpage where you can try out his browser extensions and view his other projects:

Catboy Church (careful for NSFW content tho):

This transported me back to middle school. I miss slacking off by playing the impossible game, cool math games, and that site where you click the button onscreen and it takes you to a random website (one of which was the apple lady site).
I would also eat up a catboy church video.

Cool math games is a classic. When I was a teacher, kids were STILL playing games on that site 😭

When we come together in a unified formation and act as one singular entity we posses the power and the fundamental essence to extract the things we want in life and make them reality, to believe in things that are beyond our regular scopes and harness the ability to communicate with ghosts, aliens and other supernatural beings”

I also feel like I remember a lot of net art things from the early 2000s - 2010s, but I don't remember them anymore! I was so young. I think most were like the 1st

I disagree with the chat roulette video take. I think it's not that people are heartless, its that it's way more likely that someone got on chat roulette to do something gross like pretend to hang themselves in front of strangers then it is for someone to actually have hurt themselves. And like, honestly that was a really irresponsible thing for someone to do.
Super interesting deep dive though thank you for sharing your findings

I get that, and that was a common criticism of their piece. It was definitely going to be controversial either way. Thanks anyway!

I was with ya, until you pronounced "gif" as "jiff"....

@@SirSugarMeat Unless you pronounce "UFO" as "yoo-fo" (instead of "yoo-eff-oh") and "Dr. Seuss" as "Dr. Zoy-ce", then you don't, in the most technical sense. Language is a fluid thing, and while it may have been originally pronounced like the peanut butter in 1987, it definitely isn't now. It has joined Dr. Seuss and UFOs and all the other things that may have been meant to be pronounced one way, yet for better or for worse, changed over time.
To be fair, this really starter off as more of a joke, but then you made me go research to justify my position. Am I really willing to die on this hill? Who knows. This may just be an offshoot of my animosity towards name-brand peanut butter.
