    Future video idea: How do you clean up after a job? Being mobile, and for most of us home diy, what do you do with used parts, fluids etc? I know AutoZone recycles motor oil, but what about coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid. What about big parts like aluminum water pump, rotors etc.- can you recycle things like that or is it usually just landfill? Cleaning up oily shop rags? I’m sure this is dependent on your location, but any ideas of lesser thought about aspects of home diy would be cool.

    I've been a self taught mechanic since I was 14 and have always fixed my cars myself. Since buying my used 2008 335I E93, your videos have helped me fix many things on my car from the Oil pan Gasket, the rear seal, the oil cooler, water pump and thermostat, etc. Your videos help save the DIYer thousands and they are much appreciated. Unfortunately, I now have a failed CAS which causes the dreaded clicking from multiple built in relays, the lights stay on when I shut the car off if I can even get the car to start. Will be looking for an online company to either repair or clone mine into a donor CAS to hopefully get it reliable again now that all the leaks are fixed.

    I've seen this a couple of times now on a 2010 and 2011 model 328i Xdrive. The owner took the car to Wal-Mart to have the battery replaced and the lights quit working. When I looked at the car I got several foot module codes. I sent the module out for repair and it didn't even need coding when it got back. The second one was because the battery was completly dead and they kept jumping it with a jump pack. Same issue sent it out for repair and changed/coded the battery while the FRM was out and all was good. Just know the FRM can cause the windows not to work, tail light issues, hazards might not work. In the case of the second one the Autel wouldn't even communicate with it.

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  6 місяців тому

      Yes frm module is responsible for lights, window regulators and some other electronics but in most cases can be rebuilt and don’t require coding if it is original unit

I agree about everything going up in price so I dont mind paying for the job. At the time I just thought they cheated me on labour time by comparing it to your video and others I've seen, plus your answer now being able to do it under an hour vs 2.9 hours 😸. @@Zeiten I bought a genuine BMW hose from dealership. I’ve also tried aftermarket part as well. The radiator isn’t broken either. I heard adding super lube o-ring silicon grease may help seat the hose to radiator. Have you ever ran into this issue?

  • @JenyaFookleff
    @JenyaFookleff 6 місяців тому +1

    Hey Tim, firstly, your channel has been my go to for the last few repairs I have done, you explain things so clearly and it helped me to easily change and bleed brakes, do valve covers gasket as well as new radiator installation. So thank you so much for that! I do have a question in case you decide to make more videos in FAQ format in the future.
    I have a 2007 SULEV 328i, 128500 miles on it. Ever since I got the car I noticed that when the engine is hot and is left on idle for a while (maybe for 5-10 mins) while being in park (never on drive with my foot on a brake) all of a sudden engine RPM goes well down for a brief moment to maybe 100-200 RPM and bounces right back to normal 600 ish. That also causes check engine light to come on. I can't remember the code, unfortunately, because I try not to leave it on idle for a long time anymore. The code then goes away and all is back to normal. I researched this and apparently I need a software upgrade. I've been hesitant to do it because I am not sure how upgrading software on an older BMW can "backfire" on me on any level, no pun intended.
    Now I replaced my SULEV radiator and I have a new error code: 2AD8 (EAC Sensor Monitoring/Control), which some people suggest is a flaw of 328i which were produced before 09/2007, which is the case for me. This can also be fixed with something called ProgMan update. The error code doesn't trigger the dashboard light but is still somewhat concerning to me.
    My question is: can software upgrade do more harm than good, especially on a now 17 year old car? Is it worth it in my case? And if it is, can I do it myself and what tools do you recommend? The car has no performance issues so I am still a bit hesitant to do it. Your input would be so valuable. Thanks!

    On e90 2006 330i steel oil pan, why does gasket have 29 holes but bolt set comes with 28 bolts? Also wanted to ask you how your repair oil drain plugs on above car? • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  6 місяців тому

    • @Zeiten

      Stay away from it, general rule never buy bmw with v8 engine. Maintenance you might expect - valve cover gaskets, upper timing chain cover gaskets, alternator bracket gasket, water pump and thermostat, possible coolant transfer pipe failure and list goes on and on. Valve stem seal failure is very common at any mileage on those engines
